The Transition: Oil, Natural Gas, and American Energy Dominance

Oil and gas are clearly important energy contenders. However any discussion about energy dominance needs to absolutely include coal as well.
As far as natural gas is concerned, you can bet that Europe wants nothing more than to get back to business as usual with Russia. LNG which is currently replacing much of the Russian pipeline gas is really a measure of last resort. LNG is energetically much more expensive to produce than pipeline gas. Consequently LNG costs roughly 4x the pipeline gas that was coming from Russia. Europe is finding out the hard way that you cannot run an economy only on LNG.
