@@MPH2210 yes, a computer runs more programs than the number of its cores/threads. But each program is run by a core, we do not have a program that is run by core A for a bit and than by core B. Also games use gpu threads more than cpu threads.

Honestly the i7 980x was too amazing, and the entire X58 lineup with the 6 Core Xeons and i7's was amazing I still use my 10 year old 6 Core W3670 on a 240mm AIO, overclocked to 4.7GHz, it's going amazing 10 years later

Apple products are horribly misleading when you realize how everything is built to be perfectly optimized for eachother when snapdragons are designed to fit a multitude of other phones. It's like comparing a console cpu to a cpu fitting hundreds of pcs. It's not the same. It's all worked with in house, and if you were to put that into a device that wasn't an apple product it would be massively worse. Don't forget they use old parts and screens from manufacturers they consider competitors and act like they introduced something new to a market.
I love AMD, they keep intel prices down. It really sucks that most things work better on Intel. My friend could not even use his HP Reverb G2, because he was using an AMD system.

I still have a Phenom II X4 :D Never had any real performance issues with my 955BE, altough I only played games on it :D I switched to a Phenom II X6, for almost free, it's not much of an upgrade, but at least it's a bit more efficient :D

So my current pc I bought secondhand has a ryzen 5 2600x, I'm looking to upgrade the gpu and its a toss between rtx 3050 and rx 6600. If I'm understanding the cpu gpu combo right, would it be smarter to buy the rx 6600 to pair it with my amd cpu.
RX 6600 6600xt 6650xt is the way for 1080p 1440p. Later try to get a good deal for a 5600x so you can activate SAM G4 Decoding in the Bios and enjoy moar fps.

NVIDIA has cards is the overall better one, and gives the most amount of power for gaming and editing and other heavy tasks, although u have to give your kidney first, Lol! As a guy who just upgraded from an old amd a10 5800k to a ryzen 3 3300x i relate to this on a personal level
we upgraded around the same time to the the same thing from almost the same thing (a 10-6800k) got a 5700x on the way now along with a 7900xt
