Excellent video, thank you so much. I was just wondering that some of my tallies sit sideway on the cushion. Have you come across this problem. Many thanks for posting.
Thanks for the comment. The problem can be with the length of the tally, if its slightly too long it can sometimes do this to try and fit between the pins, or it could be tensioning on one of the passives is slightly tighter than the other side. Its difficult to know without seeing you work it. Sometimes they just seem to develop a life of their own, like a rebellious teenager not wanting to conform! Keep practicing and they should improve.
Some people use a single knot, but it isn’t necessary if you always pin at the end of the leaf tally as soon as you finish working it. Ideally be ready to secure the leaf tally with whatever the leaf tally is next going into, before you work it.
Yes! You are so right! I didn't want to make the single knots, so I practiced making some flower petals on a simple virgin background and that works perfectly by tightly incorporating the background into the end of the tally. I'm really new at bobbin lace--only three weeks--and I adore it. Thanks so much for helping me understand.
Excellent tutorial 👏
a very good explanation by an excellent teacher
So clear and easy when you explain it. Thanks so much!
A very good demonstration. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Wonderful. I have tried a few different ways but this looks like the right fit for me. Thank you.
Thank you Louise , perfect video to follow 👍
Thank you. I made my first leaf tallies today and now realise that I was doing them wrong. They weren't great. More practice tomorrow.
You can do it!
Hi Louise - really helpful - my tallies much improved!! You asked for suggestions...? I was wondering about right and left hand picots...?
you make it looks so easy ;-D Thanks so much for sharing!

I just wish people could go a little slower but this video is probably the best of the ones I’ve seen.
Hooray! I got it. Not pretty, but it’s a leaf. Thank you.
So pleased... now its just practice and they will get better.
You could slow the videos down by clicking on the settings menu and then chosing the desired speed, e.g. 0,5 instead of 1 (normal speed).
Thanks so much. Ruth from Auckland.
Thank you.
Hi, Louise.. Do you place a knot, and if so, how? Or do you just move on from there into your patterned background?
