  • Every empire falls, no matter how long they reigned and how far their rule stretched. So is the empire we’re living under today - the US Empire - also crumbling?
There are three symptoms of its impending demise that we can see from looking to the past.

This is why history is so important to be taught and not selectively omitted by ANYONE!

    • @Jack-xg1kg

Understanding history is important not just to aid critical analysis of the present but also as a personal enrichment exercise. That said, it is huge - it's literally the entirety of human existence up until now. It is impossible to not selectively teach/learn it and somebody must do the selecting.
I adore the study of history and wish more people felt the same, but realistically I don't think our problems are down to the selective teaching of history in modern public education. Modern syllabuses, particularly in the UK, make a good, though imperfect, attempt to cover most important material.

We need to build together a better society that can replace capitalism.
Local production cooperatives to meet local needs, collaborate best practice ideas across the world, in a secure and safe manner. As Socialism believes that the power should be with the people, for the benefit of people, it becomes easier for public businesses to exist, which increases the amount of competition in the economy, which means lower prices as those businesses price to compete with corporations, forcing corporations to lower their prices. Less competition means maximized price gouging.

The richest man in Rome, Crassus, owned the majority of real estate within the city of Rome. He amassed all of that real estate because fires were very, very common in the city, and because there was no public fire department, he had a private fire department that would be dispatched to burning buildings and offer to put out the fire in exchange for ownership of the building...they would either give ownership of the building to Crassus or let it burn. That always seemed to have a uniquely American vibe to that

What sucks is no matter how bad the rulers of the USA get, it lands squarely on the shoulders of its citizens in the world’s eyes.
They may hate what the country does, but instead of blaming the government, or whatever, it’s, “YOU FUCKING LAZY STUPID YANKS! You deserve to suffer! YOU’RE evil! YOU’RE greedy!”
So after suffering at the hands of your own system of governance and having nobody on your side, you get to go online daily and see from everyone **NOT** in the USA and see how much more moral they are and how better than you they must be for your for choosing to be born in the wrong part of the planet on purpose.
Keep in mind whenever you hear non-Americans shit on the USA, it’s not the evil systems they’re after, it’s the every day people. In fact, if the government decided to start imprisoning every possible American citizen, suddenly the world would love America again.

The reason: Those countries (so countries like China, USA, Russia, Japan, UK, Germany, France and even India) have all declining birthrates.
In just a few years the retirement system in those places will not work anymore or generally speaking - those societies will not be able anymore to finance themselves since there are to many old - and to few young ppl.
This drags down a lot of countries - a lot of states - as we know them.

Wow, all of that just to support terrorist organization like Hamas?! US and EU countries never stopped supporting civilians in Gaza by all kind of funds. Even when Izrael closed borders, trucks with goods prepared for civilians were waiting for borders to reopen. When they were open again first people to sieze the goods were ppl from Hamas. And those, your heroes, were selling this goods to other people, that should have recieved it FOR FREE! At the same time, all people in the US did not start protests for support of Palestine - just leftists and some part of middle political spectrum voters. Thats about 50 % of the population. Where is your "all people went to streets"? Thats simply lie.
And in the end - US have so many bases, because US can simply afford that. Even though it is a lot of money, its still rather small percentage of US budget. Whereas during the fall of USSR, its military was dependent on the biggest piece of pie of the budget at that time. You are tossing strong opinions without giving any context. Those fast conclusions are dangerous and you know it. but you still love to spread it, which does not make you any better person then "they" are. Interestingly enough, I share a lot of opinions with you, but living in the country which was invaded by russians in the past and is about to be invaded again, I will rather side to "BAD US" than to Russia and China. Unfortunately my country is too poor to afford good enough military, so support from US is more than welcome in here.
Funfact is that Trump is all in for Europe to secure its own borders on its own, which means less US military presence. So... are you gonna support him now? Funfact2: Yes US is losing its soft power to influence us and other countries, because there is too much woke agenda going on in Hollywood. In Europe we laugh at woke propaganda in movies - we laugh to black people being put everywhere to the roles they dont belong to and same goes for putting women, or trans to these roles. We simply like to watch movies where it feels more natural - we dont mind black people, women and trans, BUT IT CANT BE FORCED and placed in its roles by force. Like black king of England, black Cleopatra, or black Joan of Arc. Showing such bullshit is how you lose soft power in Europe, because we are not stupid, we know our history very well and same goes for this video.

We lived in a mixed middle class neighborhood,ie union workers, lawyers, butcher, carpenters, insurance brokers, etc. we all owned our own home. Life was beautiful for white Americans at least. In 1968 everything changed with the Vietnam war and Nixon and then Ronald Reagan. The American dream was finally over with the rise of the oligarchs and tax cuts for the wealthy. By the early 2000s I knew Eisenhower was right about the rise of the military industrial complex draining our tax coffers and buying politicians. So sad to see so few people destroying our economy bc of greed and lack of empathy for the working poor and the homeless.

And what if there are no powerful countries to defend you because almost every country became a regular country?
"Without a lot of terribly wealthy people to drive prices up and cause traffic jams" - Actually prices aren't only affected by rich people. It's more to do with supply and demand which can be affected by natural disasters, recession, and a country wanting supremacy and conquering everything. Also, by taking away the ability to generate wealth, aren't you taking away their right to happiness?
As for the traffic jams, poor people own cars too, middle class own cars too. So, I don't think rich people alone are responsible for traffic jams.

Man's dirty politics produced capitalism and its culture. The state is a product of capitalism, the state creates a system of social order in the colonies, law in the culture itself. There are two options for hoarding wealth in capitalism, namely using people's tribute for exploitation, colonizing, enslaving other nations and countries, stealing their economy for the benefit of the elite and a little for the people. Or conversely exploit, colonize, enslave their own people, because there is no other nation or country for that. That's why according to Islamic teachings you are allowed to enjoy wealth as long as you obey the economic rules made by God. Those who have the right to pay taxes (zakat) are legally competent people. And natural resources are shared fairly and wisely. The monetary system's politics over currency is a crime against humanity, a product of capitalism, including slavery and the exploitation of humans against other humans. Do you believe in God or do you not believe?!? You already understand that you are still in an era that is darker than the dark era of Europe at that time. Capitalism = evil Capitalism = killing or committing suicide

I just throw some artificial chicken nuggets into the toaster oven and eat that for my meals. And if I’m lucky, maybe some waffles for breakfast. We don’t even do stuff anymore, as in go on vacation, as we can’t afford it. One of my parents has a to work more, especially because the other got laid off their job. And I’m the one left to take care of my younger siblings.

Lowkey yeah this is kind of my current situation, my family can barely afford anything and my mother is always trying to save up for groceries and things because it’s literally unlivable at this point. She’s always complaining about it too and I get that, my dad barely makes the average salary on his job since he recently quit his job he’s been doing for years that didn’t even pay him good either and would only give him like 300 dollars which literally means nothing at all compared to the bills we have to constantly pay. I’m only like 15 years old and I wanna try to start working in the summer to help them because life at this point has became so unlivable because we barely have any money. Like the income my dad gets is like lower than average and my mother just got out of surgery so she can’t go to work just yet. We were only able to afford the surgery because of the Medicare that came with my dad’s past job. Buying groceries are just all too much, the average groceries on things you need is probably like 100 dollars or more. The bills here where I live keep going up and up and it stresses me out so bad, I don’t even understand why my dad voted for trump…I know all politicians can be bad no matter on what side but I feel like we should really focus on averaging things and making things a bit more livable, maybe focus on the environment too because it’s already destroyed. I just feel sometimes there are people who promise they are gonna make things better but they don’t, regardless of the side. Everyone is angry and protesting for what is happening and honestly I don’t blame them because you can’t even afford living in a apartment or house, I could see why gen z (people of my generation) wouldn’t want to have kids…like if you can’t even take care of yourself and afford something necessary than why have kids, right? Because it comes with responsibilities too and everything. I try to distract myself with like going to school and not worrying about the inflation and everything going around me but it’s like trying to ignore the elephant in the room if you get what I mean, but yeah I’m goin through the same type of situation as you man. You aren’t alone

Second, your claim that trickle-down economics is "no such thing" seems misguided. Although it may be referred to as a "political buzzword," this label does not negate its factual basis.
Third, "Trickle-down," "Reaganomics," or simply "tax cuts for the wealthy " suggests that policies benefiting the wealthy and businesses-such as tax cuts or deregulation-will eventually lead to economic growth that helps all socioeconomic groups.
In our history, these tax cuts during the Reagan and Trump administrations both showed evidence, found by economists, that the resulting benefits were disproportionately enjoyed by the wealthy while INCREASING income inequality.

I think much attention isn't paid to what's happening with the Uk at the moment.
Also the collapse could be less drastic, and USA can just stop putting up military bases across the world, and continue thriving economically like Netherlands. Which was once a global empire too, they simply decided to focus internally rather than try to project their might on everyone.
Both are examples of how America can end up. Struggling like the UK, Portugal of Spain. Or soaring like Netherlands

Well, do not forget that the Netherlands are a vassal state of the US-Israel tandem. Also, the Netherlands suffers from some of the same issues as the US. I.e. Declining middle class, declining wealth, elite politics, blaming immigration (like in the UK also), declining quality of the educational system, surging ultra right wing sentiment (an ultra right wing party in the government, worse than in the US, btw), surging cost of living, increasing real estate(and rent) prices, beating downward (blaming the vulnerable) in stead of upward, claiming to defend free speech while using force against it. So, it depends on what you call a soaring state. To some people (politicians mostly) it looks more like floating in a cesspool in stead of soaring in the sky. At least, that is what the politicians make it look like. In a way, a self fulfilling prophecy, because in their ardent endeavor to make things better, they actually make it worse. Keep beating downward and see what happens. Crush the base of your society and see what happens.

    • @Linux_Fan_Boi_76

The only reason why the Netherlands can thrive economically. Is because the US has those military bases all across the world.
The true purpose of those bases isn't to wage world wide war 24/7. The true purpose is to secure and protect international trade routes.
Unless India voluntarily takes on that multi billion dollar responsibility. The U.S. is going to have to keep on spending hundreds of billions to guard that trade.

that's commie/socialist thing. In unregulated capitalism is hierarchy, but also competition. The hierarchy should be deserved, tho. In a world, where law suppresses competition, happens this.
Planned economy or state law controlled by oligopoly, enforced by state repressive forces ... it's the same thing
Monopoly isn't bad, as it's ideally temporary, if not protected by state, by bailouts, regulations etc.

I honestly think Luigi Mangione united people across parties more than the plight of the Gazan people. Hamas being the Palestinian leader has def made it hard for some people to sympathize with Palestinians, without knowing much of the history with the IDF.
Luigi, however, is uniting people across EVERYTHING except class. You don't need to be educated on the healthcare system to know its fucked, whereas I'd argue most Americans, even with extensive reading, will never fully grasp the depth of a conflict happening so far away and for SO much longer than any of us have been alive.

    • @kansashoneybadger7899

The "plight" of the Gazan people is that they are lead by Hamas and Hizbollah. If they would accept co-existence as has Egypt they could have a peaceful and prosperous place to live. Egypt, you will note is not sending its young men to die. It is not burning precious resources on endless wars. Egypt is doing just fine.

i very much agree that luigi mangione is a rallying bastion for all of the (non bootlicking) middle class, but the insinuated depth of the conflict should not be the same. israeli people, no matter how much you hate them, were 'given' the land by the british; they had no more reason to believe that their given ancestral land was false than you assume a birthday gift was stolen. no matter how much israel hated the palestinians, they never openly attacked until they were attacked first.
in recent times, israel-hamas conflicts have only been about israel being provoked by hamas, whether through kidnappings or rocket strikes. israel, like every other country, has a responsibility to protect her citizens; if you were taken by north korea, for example, would you not feel safer knowing that the full military force of your homeland was out to protect you? would this not deter possible deaths of innocent citizens?
i agree that dragging innocents into this struggle is horrible on both sides, but i cannot support a terrorist group. i have donated to aid foundations sending food to palestinians, but some people online seem to think that just because hamas is getting beaten down that it was somehow undeserved when they had kidnapped equally-innocent israeli citizens from their homes

@@kansashoneybadger7899Funny thing, we can blame Israel for Hamas and its awful doings. They supported it to undermine the secular Palestinian Liberation Organization, to divide Palestine and advance themselves in the West Bank. So, being attacked was kind of the country's own fault.

    • @ohheyemmi
      @ohheyemmi 29 дней назад

@yuzuflavoredmochi lmfao "its okay to do a genocide if they started it" isn't really the mic drop gotcha moment you think it is. We are talking about Palestians, not Hamas. Fun fact - the last time Palestinians had an election was in 2006. Fun fact 2 - The british just sort of decided that Israel was going to be a thing despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of arabs already lived there. Hundred of thousands of Palestinians died or were forced from their homes after Israel declared statehood. Since then, Palestinians have had their land and property taken, their movement controlled, their families separated. Israel has built settlements in East Jeruselum and the West Bank that are illegal under international law. The UN has declared it an apartheid state.
Tell me, friend, what would you do if you were forced out of you home because some country you'd never even been to said so, then when you reluctantly obeyed the same people who forced you out were now expanding into the little scraps of land they let you have, were controlling your movement with checkpoints, instituted a judicial system that discriminated against you because the country that took your home wasn't following the rules they set, makes it illegal for you to even enter their country (which again, used to be yours so some of your friends and family probably still live there), refuses to allow you citizenship, puts your entire community under military rule when those illegally occupying they scraps of land you were given are under their own judicial law, and treats you like you're sub human. Now imagine a group comes out and says "Hey, this sucks. We need this to stop and we're going to do something about it."
What do you do, Yuzu Flavored Mochi? Do you continue to have your rights trampled on and live like literal animals, or do you at least let this group try to help you? Because thats what happened in 2006, which again was the last time they had an election, after half a century of military rule, constant warfare and invasion, and having everything taken away from them.
There is a difference between Hamas and Palestinians, just like there's a difference between the Israeli government and Jewish people, just like there's a difference between US citizens and the president. Do you have this same energy for Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, or any of the other warzones the US has started under the guide of spreading democracy? Or is institutional violence and genocide only OK when you agree with the cause?
No one is asking you to support a terrorist group, but that doesn't mean you support a genocide. Those aren't the only two options, Yuzu Flavored Mochi.

We may not be necessarily witnessing the end of America, but a metamorphosis.
Generally, the average lifespan for an empire is about 250 years, which is where we are. Now, that doesn't mean every empire that reaches that mark inevitably collapses, although sometimes it does. It could also go through a period of crisis that reshapes the empire on a cultural level. Like how the French Revolution reshaped the societal consciousness of the French people and their way of life.
We're about to enter a uniquely fraught period in American history. In one scenario, it could lead to our collapse as a nation. This could take the form of a civil war where the country splits up into two or more "sides" composed of states, or breaks apart into individual states themselves. Or, it could take the form of a misguided foreign conquest that sees us overextend ourselves as our economy crashes, leading to us being conquered by allied foreign powers and carved up between them like how Germany was after WWII.
On the other hand, this could be a reformative period in our history. Perhaps the next few years light a new fire under people that reshapes our cultural identity. Much like how the stresses of wealth inequality reshaped French values and society, this new gilded age could do the same for America. It's possible we come out the other end of this as a new reborn America, something completely different than the old America, where our values of hyper-individualism have shifted toward more communal values as a response to these economic pressures. If this next period of our history is jarring and painful enough, it will convince people to recalibrate their cultural values, and when that happens, revolution will become inevitable, and the America that emerges beyond that will be something new and reinvigorated.
Whatever happens, the only sure thing is that the America we've known for the last 250 years is officially gone now. There might be a bright future waiting beyond this dark period. Or, we might truly be at the end of our existence as a nation, and whatever lies beyond that point could still be livable, but our glory days will be done. Perhaps in the very distant future America could re-emerge. But we will likely not live to see that day. And whatever happens, America will never be the same after these next 4 years.
EDIT: I have been recently informed that the "empires lasting 250 years" thing is considered bogus, so I retract that, but the rest of the point still stands.

The economical decline of the USSR was a secondary issue. The true decline of the USSR had to with the overbureaucrarization and monolithic nature of the Communist Party. The Managerial elite ruled their own sectors of the economy and exploited it to their benefit, notably the military and security services. It gave rise to the oligarchs and nepotistic leaders like Yeltsin and the thugs running the regimes that occupy the former Soviet Union. By the late 80s, Gorbachev’s idealist attempt to reform the union led to these same forces that benefited from the corruption to unhinge themselves and split the union apart.
