    In the days since Covid I have found that friction polish and wax finishes do not hold up to hand sanitizer. I prefer a lacquer finish which does not wipe off with alcohol hand cleaners. closed grain hardwoods only require two or three coats while open grain wood like oak may require seven or eight coats for a more permanent finish.

      Thank you for the feedback! I have never seen any issues with my pens holding up with Brad's finishes, but I'll be on the lookout!

    Nice, Daniel. It's great that you were able to keep some of that paint. I was afraid you were going to sand it away.

    Since the paint was turned off I might have considered taking some of the paint from the scraps and inlaying it just to add the colour. A nice pen with a great history.

    do you ever do CA glue finishes on your pens?

    • @TournageDubois
      @TournageDubois  Год назад

      I do not typically. I prefer the tactile feel of the wood, which you lose with the CA finish.

      @@TournageDubois well said. I do CA glue finishes on my bowls. There is nothing like it in terms of final product looking like liquid mirror finish. I couldnt get into pen turning but I respect the snot out of it. Definitely looks great!
