Not often you get someone who can sing MJ better than MJ himself. I love this stripped down version. Don’t get me wrong, I love everything they do but it’s nice to hear nothing but their voices and tremendous harmonies. This is the second MJ song Deejay has done. He did Man in the Mirror with them as J None’s farewell song.
The arrangement, the harmonies, everything was absolutely fantastic. I didn't think anyone other than Michael could do this song justice but I was wrong.
Every now and then VP drops those more "serious" and "typically acapella" songs. It's like a reminder: "Hey, we still can do it this way!" in between their theatrical, comedic or effectful projects.🥰 And this version is a respectful tribute and does the Original justice just like "In the air tonight", "Creep" or "Nothing Else Matters"😘👌
This is such an excellent cover! You're right, videos like this and Bridge Over Troubled Water have a more cozy feel. They mix their genres well. I think MJ would have liked this. I like how we didn't get Rock God Eli (mind you, I adore him), in this, I love how they know when to hold back. They know when and where to add their own feel. Especially with Geoff in their line up. And hmmm, Geoff as Lestat? I'd watch it!💙
Voiceplay also did "Man In The Mirror" a few years ago. It was J None's last video as a member. DeeJay was in that one as well. That's when J None came back several weeks later from Navy boot camp and they did "Friends On The Other Side" and right after Cesar joined the group.
You may have done VP covering Man in the Mirror? It was 2021 when J.None was about to leave to join the navy. This is the coolest thing they've ever done. Smoooooth and sexy. And yes they always have exactly the right guest to accompany them. Did you catch the sideways look Cesar gave Geoff? So cute. I don't know if you know Angelina Jordan, but she's covered some MJ songs to great effectL Heal the World, or Billie Jean. Both very special.
I don't think Voiceplay ever tries to be better than the original, although in my opinion they frequently are. They always pay homage to the original but Voiceplay with it. Geoff has said, why do something that someone else has already done. This is the second time Geoff has arranged a sweet, calm, gorgeous piece right after one of Layne's maniacal arrangements. This time it was after Classical Chaos, the time before was I Can't Make You Love Me after In the Hall of the Mountain King.
Yes sir you reacted to Gabriel Henrique covering Michael Jackson's Earth song...with that being said I absolutely love Voiceplay and this was amazing...Great reaction Sir ❤
Deejay is just the perfect choice for this song as you say! Occasionally VP does strip it back to remind us that they do not need the theatrics to be labelled incredible - and it was the respectful thing to do. I also think they were quite happy not to have make-up on after Classical Chaos! 😁. Did you not do VP's 'Man in the Mirror' that also features DJ Young? What I like about VP is that you cannot predict ANYTHING about the next release they do! Thanks for the reaction!🌹🕊
I find their slower paced vibe on this preferable to the original. I cannot stand the original video. It feels too threatening. Fortunately, MJs version is better IF you don't watch the video. Usually, covers of this go with the watching a pretty girl walk by vibe like MJ's. THIS one feels more like they are singing it to someone close to them. VoicePlay's cover has such a lovely, sexy, slow groove to it, that this is most certainly going on replay OFTEN!
I totally agree. MJ's original song is musically good but the video was so aggressive with the harassement vibes and misogynistic clichés, probably voluntary but it's triggering. Voiceplay turns it into a true yet very sexy love song and Deejay really sounds like MJ. I like it much better. It is the way I would have liked MJ to actually sing it.
Another great Geoff arrangement that highlights each person’s strengths and talents. Thank you for your reaction 😊

love that they can go from full on theatrical as in classical chaos to sitting around just singing and it’s all amazing and yes DeeJay is fantastic ❤
Doing this stripped down seems more intimate. I loved how they transitioned from one chord to another juicy chord. It was just right!
The arrangement, the harmonies, everything was absolutely fantastic. I didn't think anyone other than Michael could do this song justice but I was wrong.
Fire!!!They killed it!!😊😊
VoicePlay did another Michael Jackson cover, Man In The Mirror, with Deejay before. It was in connection to JNone leaving the group for the Navy.

The groove in this!
Plus, Deejay. There is zero doubt why Deejay is touring in Hamilton....

Oh yes I knew I was forgetting something😅 we need more MJ covers👏🏽😁

So smooth. Love the song and reaction
Vampire Geoff is on display in This Is Halloween. 😊
I can't believe you didn't react to J None's last video before the US Navy, Man in the Mirror w/ Deejay included.
MJ's was more lust..almost like a stalker. This was passion for someone you know well enough to love.
