Glad to see how many people realize the problem with the poor puppy’s hips but also sad how normal it is and how easily you can tell a puppy has been bred incorrectly yet people don’t care and still want them
German Shepard's are notorious for it
@@bailmasterflex a lot of the closer German lines have great confirmation but this watered down version of GSDs you’re spot on
Not to mention they continue to win dog shows and prizes for showing their dogs with messed up hips like that.
It's actually a problem from the beginning of the breed. The original breeder accidently left a dog with another and now it's a common issue. It can be "worse" if inbreeding is done again.
@@jammer212 never heard of it being traced all the way back to the very origin of GSDs but I’ll have to look into it that’s interesting
Those poor hips on that pup 😭
First thing I noticed.
What’s wrong with her hips?
@@angelinaclark9329 the pup had a slopped back, which leads to the unnatural walk they show in this video but later on GSDs with this slop will have terrible hip dysplasia. I've seen dogs as young as 4 that can't walk without pain because of this awful breeding trend.
Kill the duck
She's not purebred.
So young and already her hind legs are all collapsing and stuff
German shepherds have that kind of problem, the breed is prone to hop dysplasia because its hind legs being to close to the ground unlike the front legs. If you can see their back has a curve when reaching the tail and thats not good
@@Paris_2004 which is why they need to stop selecting for that sloped back
@@janehannah220693 mine is straight and still has rear end problems. No where near this dog but it’s not a selective breed choice, it’s just a German shepherd thing. Legit y’all are so worried bout dogs for what? Dogs wouldn’t give af bout you if it wasn’t for food/treats. Either way the breed isn’t the problem, it’s just the dog. My dog near bout stands taller on the rear but still has no strength back there. Nothing bout selective, it’s all of them if they have bad genes or bad habits of living you can expect that with a german
@@VegBeefSoup ... so many inaccuracies in this comment
It is a result of selective breeding, if you breed a low hip Shepard and another low hip Shepard, then take the lowest hip pup of that litter and the lowest hip pup of another litter and just keep doing that, the hips will get lower and lower
With pugs, they kept picking pups with the shortest faces and breeding them with more shortest faces until we get the adorable, but chock full of health issues breed that can barely breed and looks like it ran face first into a wall
It's selective breeding, it's why all these dogs breeds have more issues than their predecessors, shitty breeding selection based on appearance and not health
@@Gibbypastrami but it’s not just a selective breeding thing, my gs which is a pure gs and his hind legs still effect him. The whole point. It’s not just a breeding issue, it’s a gs issue in general
This GSD has been terribly bred. The rear legs shouldn’t be that way.
I thought I was the only one to notice that
@@Juanito56276 nope I noticed hopefully with water therapy and maybe surgery if possible won't cut the dogs lifespan.
Yes, I feel so bad for her! She’s so young, and you can clearly see her hips are in trouble.
Issue here is smooth floor the pups play in homes that leads to cow hocks
Breeding has nothing to do with it
It can be permanently cured with supplements and keeping the dog on hard floor
@@bismillah5497 I only have smooth floors in my house but my shepherd didn't have any of this. But if we sqg your reason is right and its down to smooth floors how would supplements help? That sounds more like getting inadequate food to need supplements for it to make a difference
Poor puppy I can already tell she’s gonna have bad hip dysplasia 😢
I hate certain purebred dog breeds for that reason, also why we specifically chose to get a crossbreed (with both parents concidered healthy by the vet ofcourse)
“gonna have bad hip dysphasia “
… hip dysphasia is inherited and a genetic thing . so therefore no , this dog will not “have” hip dysplasia . i’m sure this dogs parents have had genetic testing and a have a great pedigree as a lot of GSD do.
Yep.
Thr hips are definitely not ok, like overcooked spaghetti. Poor dog
@@Hannah-uv8hy more of a problem with irresponsible breeders and bloodlines in most cases
I love German shepherds but watching their hips progressively deteriorate more and more is so hard to witness
I don’t mean from being walked or anything just their genetics taking an unfortunate turn
Yeah, and this one is the worst case I've seen. Her legs are all wobbly when she's walking. Poor dog is going to have many problems.
I put both of mine on joint supplements once they hit 2 years old, and progressively increased them. No joint problems, and one died of cancer at almost 12, and the other is still puppy like at 7. It's never too late to start! Best wishes!
@@Kelly_Benwhat do you recommend
There are still working lines.
his legs are screwed
@@melmardiamond sorry for assuming a dogs gender
@@melmardiamond thanks for the much needed correction, saved her from the horrors of a misgendering
@@melmardiamond why do you care?
@@melmardiamond i just love how you focus on a non issue instead of focusing on the messed up dog with hip problems due to genetic deficiencies caused by horrible selective breeding, you understand the dog doesn't give a fuck right? IT can not understand the concept of gender
@@melmardiamond u fasholy got no friends n got made fun of in highschool
I’m so glad my German Shepard has normal hips and isn’t like some of the ones I see
Same. Got mine out of a shelter and after only being able to see pictures of her was so relieved that she didn’t show any signs of early hip dysplasia. She has a small slant in her back but that’s about it. Awesome dogs, but it’s a shame they’ll end up hurting because of breeding for looks
It’s bc your guys gsd are not showlines
Great work you’re doing helping these puppies grow into well-adjusted companions. I hope you’re reminding those owners to sign up for pet insurance now, before those hips go out!
That puppy will be lucky to get 4 years of decent quality life.
I think its already painful😞 she is growing
Sadly it was in pain from day one... breeding needs to be banned unless you are registered to like akc or ckc... aka purebred health checked dogs... I hate backyard breeders because they make good breeders take a bunch of shit... a good breeder dishes thousands into a dog and if one thing doesn't pass that whole dogs LINE the entire breeding line would be tossed. There needs to be laws around breeding animals because this is disgusting and horrible... And I bet you they sold this puppy for like, three grand and called it a quote purebred...
@@mrrandom5467
🤡
@mrrandom5467 Um... Well i've been around actual breed standard shepherds... And no their hips do not look like that, A dog that entered the ring with hips like that would be disqualified, It wouldn't even not place it would literally be disqualified... There is a breed standard for a reason, And nowhere in the breed Standard for a shepherd does it say wobbly hips, No shepherd should ever move like that, If they do it's a serious major major major redflag... Think of it as a person, Okay right so lose the whole dog aspect, If that was a human, And every time it took a step its hips left the socket and flopped everywhere, Would that not be classed as abnormal and wrong? YES that would be incorrect and classed as a major health issue... A dog is obviously not correct if An ethical breeder wouldn't touch it with a fifty thousand billion foot pole... That dog would not pass its Hip or elbow x rays, That dog would actually be a full blow Fail on the health tests, Meaning that that dog is suffering And actively in pain. Getting an actual fail over A bad reading for your hips In dogs is Not easy. The only way to actually fail an x ray Is to have hips that do exactly this, A k a Is constantly dislocating and relocating and Constantly grinding bone on bone. This puppy by age one will have major major beyond major arthritis Among a mass of other joint and bone issues. Sorry but As somebody who knows thischoolwise And husband mirroring people who have done this for decades I think I know what the fuck i'm talking about. Arguing with me about what I'm saying is like. Arguing with your doctor when they tell You that your leg is broken... You listen to the professionals right? OBVIOUSLY yes you do. I know my genetics I know all of that shit, I know how muscles and structures work, I know how defects work I could go on and on and on and on and on, I am mirroring people who have mirrored people who have mirrored people who all have college degrees in this shit. I'm in the process of getting my degrees like all my predecessors I think that's the word... Trust me, I know what the fuck i'm talking about. I can look at that dog the same way You would look at a tomato and say yes that's red, If you can use your eyes and see that a tomato is red, I as a professional can use my eyes and tell you that dog is suffering.
Oh also not only are you arguing with an actual fucking professional You are ignoring every single last comment Saying that this is abusive disgusting and cruel. Don't breed animals that'll die in two years time or be suffering their entire life. How about I stick nails in your shoes and make you walk around for the rest of your life? Would suck ass wouldn't it these dogs don't deserve to suffer. It's pretty bad when an animal is better off dead than living like this.
@@kljl2akc and ckc encouraged this shit. If you want an original bred by standard GSD go with the Belgian shepherds or leave the breed alone. The AKC thoroughly enjoys their hips being sloped into their back and their hind legs being shorter than their front and being twice as heavy as their brethren. I love my GSD’s. After getting one even I have buyers remorse because the breed itself is a design flaw. The Belgian shepherd breeds really do be the last of vons work that hasn’t been tampered or completely fucked
It’s so sad seeing a dog like that, knowing years down the road it won’t be able to walk right
Do you mean months
The reason I won’t ever buy another gs.
@@nicolemelo8994 yeah, bit of an over exaggeration on my part
@@_JiminyCricket_ agreed, but at least it can move enough for the time being
@@_JiminyCricket_it’s not the breeder fault just that breed tends to have leg problems I had one who had the same problem by the time he was like 5 I grew up with that dog
The slope on that pup breaks my heart :(
Great advice, the puppy going to have major hip issues
Yes; it looks like it 😣
It got cow hocks which can lead to displacia but can be cured earlier if treated with supplements
That walk looks painful already. Can't imagine in 10
@@NoNo_IStay its a puppy
yes I was about to say something. her hips are horrible already as a puppy, she is gonna be in so much pain in the years to come. 😔
An example of "breed standards" getting more and more exaggerated and causing problems.
Those are old show breed standards unfortunately there are still people that want the old show breed standards today we’ve actually made it a lot better than it used to be if you look at some of the show photos from when the breed was first in show it’s even worse I’m not saying that puppy is good at all I’m just pointing out we are slowly improving our standards
@@kodiakwolf2964 the breed standard actually started out well and has gotten beyond awful in the last dozen or so years. Thus why well bred germans are called "old line"/working line/European line. The hunchback on this puppy is actually NORMAL and just barely not in standard in the ring now - absolutely deplorable.
@@Night-ud4ew sorry I should’ve specified old show breed standards! My bad they have actually massively improved shockingly GSDs used to walk on their hocks which as a vet is sickening! That’s an old show breed standard not working line the working line has mostly stayed the same.
I hope that dog was adopted by people who can help her and properly care for her medical needs
The sad part is that dog is gonna have a horrible 2nd half of its life It will still have so much energy left but due to its poor hips it’ll be bedridden.
2nd half? If it’s an energetic pup like most gsd’s are, I’d say it’s gonna wear its legs out by 4 years old
praying for this dog’s future😢
Same 😔
Amen 🙏
Owner doesn't seem that incompetent
If the dog is bred so bad her hips are like that, you don't have to worry about her attacking anything she's probably scared of her own shadow
That, and she’d probably trip trying to get away and hurt herself. Pretty sad
The hips 🥺
she just needs more exercise
@@tcapo514Exercise has nothing to do with shitty breeding.
That poor GSD is going to have horrible joint pain as it grows older
For the hip dysplasia to show up so clearly in a young dog is just heartbreaking. Mama duck will take your nose though for sure!
Horrible rear on that dog
I noticed that, too! Poor girl is going to have so many problems. 😕
It’s show quality
I had a beloved German shepherd who was healthy until one day he couldn't walk up our porch stairs. We took him to the vet, they called it coonhound paralysis. His hind legs atrophied, even on steroids. At first we had to help him urinate by squeezing his bladder. Later we would stand him up to walk for short distances until he couldn't anymore. We took care of him for years, we loved him too much to put him down. We dug his grave in the rain and had to scoop water out with buckets until it was deep enough for a steel vault and a wooden box within. He took a piece of our soul with him.
Sorry for your loss. 😢
Im truly sorry for your loss, but it should Always be about Quality of life first. How long did you have to help your dog pee. Sorry but that's not Quality of life. No mallace meant 🐾🐶🐾
Did you guys have children?
Oof, I have a coonhound and that's just one of the reasons we don't hunt with her 😬 sorry for your loss, terrible way to lose an animal
Mama duck is like get closer and find out.
you and Tom Davis are my favorite on line dog trainers. great job
Wow!
It's important to help the dogs learn to give the Mama duck and her babies some space!
duh
I adopted my german shepherd and he walks just fine. My friends grandpa had 5 that he got randomly at some point all different ages. Only 2 are left but the other 3 lived to 17, 15, and 13 and could all sprint tell the end. Kinda rare to find shepherds without disabilities. Guess We got lucky
There’s 2 lines .. show and working .. identical except one (the working) has a flat top line (back) and reasonable hip scoring.. and the other ..(the show ring) which has a very angled top line and really bad hip scoring record ..
it depends on the line you buy as to the probability of dysplasia
Too bad people don't realize how many dogs have problems...different breeds have different common problems 🙄 😒 😕
dude it's rare to find them without issues because of irresponsible breeding methods and unfortunately there's no way to entirely stop Backyard Breeding and Crossbreeding
I have no idea how I got lucky but my dog is a purebred working line gsd that I found at some little shelter two towns over. She was most likely the result of adoption without understanding that dogs are a lot of work, and the general theory from the shelter was that she was dumped at 5 months, intact and everything. Completely irresponsible, but hey, she’s an amazing dog now and shows no signs of hip dysplasia or spine issues
@@reahaweekly9612I have a coonhound who's actually generally healthy for a dog breed, she negates that by getting herself into dangerous situations( she's been attacked by boar, a very angry skunk, and a wasp hive) 😅 there's no winning with dogs I swear 🤦
Real life desensitization is absolutely crucial!!!
"mama duck ain't gonna hurt you"
Mama duck "I WILL FUCK YOU UP!!!"
Lol I had to introduce a rescue pup to my chickens yesterday, they went from running away to pecking him in the face real quick 😅
German Shepards are such beautiful intelligent dogs
Dog is showing stress throughout, is wearing a pinch prong collar (aversive tool) which is also uncorrectly fitted. I also see this trainer recommending shock collars (more aversives).
Yeah I wouldn't let you handle my dogs.
Git ' him mama duck! Namas dont play😂😂
"How cowhocked do you want your puppy?"
"Yes."
Great handling, that dogs breeder should retire though 😵💫
What up with them back legs can they be corrected ?
Yes
This happens due to smooth flooring in homes
Keeping the pup on foam like mat or on grass like surface whole day with glucosamine supplements and a lot of exercise can cure this condition
@@bismillah5497 no that’s not quite right
No, it is fucked up breeding. Supplements and physiotherapy, pain meds and hip replacement might help.
That happens due to unethical, selective breeding.
The only treatments are surgery, lifelong pain medications starting as a puppy and euthanazation.
The low backs are as harmfull as the face of a pug, organs of a bulldog or the skin of a chow chow.
The legs being angled outwards can be somewhat corrected. But this dog is screwed in any case due to bad breeding.
I used to have a German Shepard :( started off great but after a year or 2 she lost her ability to walk and began having seizures ;( had to put her down. Miss you sasha
Critical moment here, glad to see this. Most people when training don't do this, never end on a negative. Hit the nail on the head. Thank you.
Take dogs for walks any chance you get, and find a good route to get them going (though take other paths to keep things interesting). The town I live in has a great walking trail near a small airport that supports firefighting aircraft, so over the course of one summer my dog became used to helicopters and the like taking off, and now loud noises don't bother her at all. In fact, if she sees me staying calm when something big is happening, she stays calm as well 🐾
urs i was thinking that. the human is not afraid of the duck
“Mama duck ain’t gonna hurt you.” You can’t promise that! Lol
He can promise he won’t let mama duck get close enough cuz he will pull her away in time
@@TheBehm08 he was referring to pulling the dog away. Not the duck, why would he mess with a wild duck and its ducklings? Whats wrong with you lol

Most dogs don’t realize the damage they’re capable of inflicting. My 140 mastiff would probably be scared of mama duck too😅
Beautiful puppy. She's in pre hip dysplasia. You really should get her to a vet.
People who breed for money be like "yeah that's normal it'll buff out when she's older" yeah right smh
That poor pup already can’t walk right and it’s so young. By time she’s a little older she’s going to really struggle getting around.

I need help with my rednose puppies. Brother and sister, 7 months old. Anytime I walk them past a house with a dog in the yard they go crazy like they want to fight through the fence. My older dog is about 3 years old and she does the same thing. I can't get them to focus on me no matter what, they just get tunnel vision and pull to the fence
@@Somethin_Slixyou need to take them one at a time, that way you can have better control to hold the dog back. Stop and turn around at the first sign of any aggression or attention being locked onto the fenced dog. Keep doing this until they get the point that they dont get to continue the walk when they behave like that. Its similar to raising kids. They dont get rewarded or get to enjoy special outings when behaving badly. Obviously reward your dog as soon as he displays good behavior by focusing back onto you. Consistency is key, and your ability to control your dog physically is vital. Otherwise youre guna have a dog fight and possibly lawsuit on your hands one day. I wish you the best of luck. I know how difficult it can be to have reactive dogs. Like i said, Consistency and control are key to overcoming this. You can do it!
My poor 95 lb German Shepherd knew he wasn’t supposed to bother the ducks. And they would chase him across the yard. I miss him. He was my buddy. And he was sooo good with my grandkids.
When the pups are born I talk loud vacuum and bump the box, turn music on and off. Any random sound, they are calm and don’t react or freak it bc of fire works or things like that. They know they’re safe! Oh and randomly give ‘em luvin

Soon as that GSD loses the ability to walk, he's put it down and get another one 😪
hey people, this video is about introducing a dog to different enviroments, not on the confirmation of the dog
Yes but it’s still good to see that people know what an unhealthy conformation looks like. I’m happily surprised to see how many people pointed it out, though the pups situation is sad
Ducks a vicious creatures. I hate them.😂
As a bird dog owner, this is an impossibility for my dog lol
My shepherd and my shepherd cattle dog mix are bird killers. They have massive prey drive I have not been able to work out of them
Adding to the comments about the poor dog's hips. This has to STOP. It's NOT something to strive for! This is a DEFECT let's be clear.
Poor duck, she looked terrified. What a horrible experience for her.
Not rlly Karen, through this experience evolution has given the ducks a protective manner over young (along w all animals) that ensures the survival of the species…
Lol that's a Muscovy, they're always pissy, they hiss constantly and are ginormous, if she was truly alarmed she wouldn't be threatening to maul said puppy, she'd walk her babies to a bush and hide them.
She’s gorgeous! Out of our Brady Bunch of dogs (total 8), we’ve 2 German Shepards. Prince is a moose boy - like 100-110 lbs with no concept of his own size. Loves to play except when he accidentally whaps me with one of those massive paws of his! Then his sweet sister Star who is a doll baby with everyone except her brother who I’ve seen her manhandle him by playfully grabbing the back of his collar causing him to submit to her. And that’s only 2 of our 8!
“No big deal”
Proceeds to look back 😂
Me reading the comments “maybe the people pointing out the bad hips are German shepherd experts and have a trained eye”
Me watching the video “damn that dog has terrible form”
poor thing, we gotta do better-animal welfare over profit or aesthetics
I’ve also been told I can look but not touch. I feel ya pups😂
Lmao
I have no knowledge of/experience raising dogs, but even I can tell her hips shouldn’t look like that.
German shepherds are the best. Definitely my favorite breed
I had to watch this 3 times to take in the training info because I, too, was so appalled by the hideous rear on that puppy. I have handled a different breed at shows in the past, and it is criminal what has been done to GSDs.
Brand New CORVETTE SUPER FANCY. I WAS 😩😴 TIRED.
That dogs hips are so messed up, at such a young age also.. really sad.
Poor dogs legs look messed up
Is there something seriously wrong with that poor baby girls legs? 😥
Good on you though for helping desensitising the dogs to stuff like that! 😊
This is why I love my countries breeding regulations and laws. Each GSD parent has to pass the hip and joint dna check to ensure healthy breeding and EXTREMELY low risk of hip dysplasia and joint issues. To ensure stuff like this pup doesn't happen
All of you are saying “The puppy’s poor hips!”, but you aren’t thinking, what if the owners rescued her, and are trying to get her hips fixed? All I’m saying is that you just need to know the backstory before you judge anything.
Muscovy's aren't like other ducks lucky they didn't get chased.
Guy says Mama Ducks not going to hurt yo.mama duck: you want to test that theory.
Funny i used manage one of those tire shops with the crazy sounds...hah hah good von hans...TK
Your out of order for letting that dog anywhere near mother duck.
Why stress the hapless creature out like that? 😡
I was born around working line German shepherds and eventually served as a k9 handler in the 3rd battalion rangers using Malinois and German shepherds. I hate seeing show line German shepherds with them bent hips and zero drive.

People really need to start protesting the inbreeding of GSDs. These dogs suffer horrifically as they age, and they never live full lives. They get to the point where they can’t even stand up on their own anymore. It is so sad.
I know , I have a 13 months old shepherd her hips isn't the best, running in a large back yard she run so fast around the yard, the hip seen to be better, those kind of dogs need to be out to run n jump please don't just lock them from being tied up or in the house, they need to be walking on days at lease 5 days out the week or have a large yard let them run free in the yard,

The owner acts rough and uncaring toward the dog. Have a heart dude your dog is crippled.
my dog limps but it’s because he injured his leg when he was a puppy and i don’t think it healed correctly. it’s just so energetic and we tried to keep him down like the whole time he was in his cast but no. he was still jumping up and off our couch. mind you he’s a chihuahua. he’s the best tho, he has seizures and lives a pretty hard life because of it but he’s so energetic and playful. and loud too holy shit lmao
Guy=momma duck won’t hurt you…Momma Duck= wanna bet…
So if mama duck attacked on self defense, the dog walker would smesh the mama duck?
It’s a puppy and walks as if it’s 8 years old.
Worst trainer. My GSD was Angel. Loved every living person
“Look but no touch” - where have I heard that before.
bro💀
Doesn’t really matter, but we can do this. Just depends on the dog.
Was it just me or were the rear legs looking really bad as the pup walked?
I already feel sorry for the shepherd
One issue with this is a dog who would eat the ducks 🤦♀️ my dogs are prey driven 😪
Met some folks training a seeing eye puppy on a trail ride, they were delighted that it would get to see horses up close, especially since the horses were so non-reactive and showed they weren't scary, but they also weren't remotely scared by it.
New experiences without drama, what all dogs should know!
