I worked in a toxic environment and they hired someone that they fired and several years later they rehired them. I was let go and the little time away does give me perspective. I think if I had that break from work I would have realized a lot more.

That's a good perspective, thank you for sharing! Hopefully you moved on to a better place!

For me, it depends on a case-to-case basis. If it's a good employee and this is the first time happening, I would ask the employee what happened and probably let it slide. However, I would let them know that the next time it happens for whatever reason, they will get a warning, and the third time it happens, they will get fired.

I think you are right on target Raz! Definitely case by case decisions. Definitely an opportunity to communicate and train expectations. But definitely can't let people continue in the poor behavior! Thanks for always checking out my videos and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!

If a person was held at gun point or died you forgive them for missing day at work. Such a valuable insight.

I knew a very nice girl who lost her job to circumstances well beyond her control similar to this example. She was on vacation and flew to her home country in Africa. While she was their a revolution broke out and the rebels seized the airport for 4 weeks. By the time she was able to get back the company had already fired her and refused to take her back. It was a real shame too. She was a good employee. The company was not the best. To give some context, this company actually made a profit off their employee by hosting an employee Christmas party.

@Elderos5 That's terrible! It makes me sad to hear things like this. Hopefully she will quickly find another job, hopefully in a better environment! This is a great opportunity for businesses to step up and be the kind of place people want to work! People are hoping from job to job, businesses should strive to be the last place an employee hops to!

Hi, I have employee always not show up to work like every couple days in one week. But he always calls before in the morning. He says don’t feel good or I’m sick. It’s small restaurant, it’s very difficult to find someone to cover it. Especially in the weekends, I can’t find no one. What can I do? Should I just fire him or cut his hours?

People are so easy to jump to conclusions.
In this case I’d be afraid that “Jenny” might not show up for work again because she might be dead- her crazy boyfriend.

I always "try" and give the benefit of the doubt, and always ask why. I try to assume good intent from others. I may be wrong sometimes, but it saves a lot of needless anger on my part.

Can you change up the title to how to deal with employees who don't show up to work or Here's is what you should do when employe......
And also make the thumbnail text say should you fire her or them?. Apologies for my wisecking😎

No problem, I appreciate the wise cracking! I have found that people are more likely to respond when I say what "I have done" then if tell them "what you should do" But I'll take your direct approach under advisement. Thanks very much for taking the time to comment.

It's not getting back to you. You got manipulated. You'll realize when she does it again with a different far fetched story. PS never been to a Sonic but your commercials make me want to try it!!
