I’m really grateful to you! I’ve been searching for this kind of tutorial for a long time but couldn’t find it anywhere. I want to make games to play with my friends, and I’m looking forward to seeing more tutorials on multiplayer.
So this was great. But for some reason when using the player controller as my Player Controller Class in the level, I can no longer move my character. But I can if I switch it back to the first person character
@@JustAbyss Thanks! Probably not, no. You'll just be able to join a match with your team and play against other teams, but a matchmaking system would be much more involved!
When i use the listen parameter, the player goes back to the initial game scene [as your is loadlevelin, mine is MainMenu] Any idea? Only when i use ?listen
hi thank u for your great tutorial i done all the thing the same but when i use shift tab or in my friends list i created here i cant see any one and even in my shift tab dosent show up steam friends list
I'm getting so sad.. I've been at this all day and see no errors in my set up!! I can't see names of friends and invites don't work!? I can print debug user names but no idea what to do for checking steam ids and such to make sure invites pass over. I get invite failed in pie and packaged project
The issue with the steam friends list opacity, doesn't actually seem to be about the opacity. I noticed in mine that my online friends are not necessarily at the top of the list, so I believe this is actually an issue of not being able to tell if friends are offline.
@HappyPantz Yeah my thoughts exactly. It for some reason isn't able to get the online status, which is strange because it's getting the avatar and display name correctly! 🤔
I've built this out exactly as shown, but I can't get the friends list to populate. I'm running in standalone and I can get the Steam overlay to open, so I know the integration is working. Any ideas?
@@ledthegamedev found the kind of solution , the friends appear as offline in the testing environment, so change the branch to show offline and it populates the list
Hello 👋 I have a question. How do you suggest that I send the zip file to whomever I want to send it to when I test the game. I tried some messaging methods and it usually says that the file is too big. Just curious on how you would go about sending it. Thanks for an amazing tutorial.
The friend list opacity isn't really a opacity problem, it's the plugin itself, to solve it i found out a Unreal Engine Forum called, "Steam friend list has not presence state in build game", there you have the way to solve it.
@PitchforkAcademy hi, thx for tutorial. I have a question - is it possible to create a multiplayer game where the multiplayer will be implemented as follows: - when starting the game, all players enter the main menu and select multiplayer - then all players enter the lobby level - after the start of the game, all players get to the main game map (top down) - if one player enters a city or village (first/third person) then he ends up on a separate map. All other players continue to play on the main map but have the opportunity to join a player who entered a city or village
@@PitchforkAcademy amazing, I am trying to understand how to implement this without additional dedicated servers. At this moment when my "server player" traveling to the city map all players also traveling( Working on it. Can you cover this case in next tutorials (for patreons)
For me everything works except, no one can join... Any ideas? I've tried to join with laptop, with friend and we live in same city (steam region is same too), game instance parent class is advanced friends game instance, honestly no clue what went wrong :\
I am a fan of you. can you please make a video of how to make multiplayer team death match and one team win and other looses with pop up widget to show winning team?
@@PitchforkAcademy thanks. preferably, continue the first person multiplayer game. you have reached now episode 11. i hope episode 12 will be about that
@Foreverawp That's not a guarantee, no, but if you post in there asking for advice you will likely get some from me or some other helpful members. The server also has integrated AI which you can ask for help, and we're working on a system for early access to our videos. It's also just a really nice place to be, and your contribution helps to keep us going with making tutorials!
@MorningStar4421 Not sure. I'm sick at the moment but changing jobs in a couple of weeks which will free up some time for more tutorials. Probably around the end of this month...
Awesome tutorial.. I do have a little request though, in regards to your uploads in generel.. Would it be possible to include what the episode is about in the title, instead of only "part 2" ?.. for instance this episode, could be called "creating a steam session" or something like that.. It would make it alot easier to navigate your videos, to rewatch.. or if there's is something specific from the topic we wanted to find.. or include it in the thumbnail, if you dont want the title to become to long..

Same here , the problem is about the online status not being online for all of my friends , it may be from the test api we give to steam.

Friend list opacity works fine for me in shipping builds uploaded to Steam. Just not development builds.
