The flash-backs also perfectly highlight how brilliant Alec Guinness' acting is...he gave Obi-Want all the proper sadness and regret without even knowing the full story yet.
Sir Alec Guinness served in the British Navy during the Second World War, primarily in the English channel, often involved in trying to rescue shot down pilots, English, American, and German. He saw a lot of casualties, both killed and horribly wounded. Though Guinness only knew the scantiest bit about the Star Wars backstory, he could portray PTSD, because he had it.
If anyone is new watching Emme, her star wars reactions (in order) are so much fun to watch. It's super fun watching someone not knowing the spoilers run through the emotions, plus her love for R2 proves her fan level. Ps don't mind her forgetting faces and the millennium falcon
As a person who endures CPTSD, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series was super relatable. A lot of fans expressed disappointment that the version of Obi-Wan in that series seemed very different from the version of Obi-Wan from the Prequels and from The Clone Wars animated series. Yes. He has PTSD and is struggling to work through a lot of sh!t.
I always felt that so many people seemed to miss the whole PTSD aspect of the series. Once you understand what he’s working through, the series becomes so much more impactful. Plus, it could help explain the common complaint I hear from people “why didn’t he just kill Vader when he had the chance”… did you not SEE Obi-Wan break down when he saw Anikan!?
I don´t think that was the biggest disappointment that most fans had. I think it was mostly the show not really focusing on the character actually, as much as it should, and not developing it better into that characterization (suffering from PTSD does make sense for him at that point indeed, but it deserved so much to be explored better). There was too much filler, when it would have been amazing to get the resources they used for that filler into creating a bit more of a character study. Specially given it´s a character so beloved.
May I remind you that the writers for the Obi-Wan show didn't know that Obi-Wan knew that Anakin was Darth Vader? That means they never watched Return of the Jedi nor the prequels. Why hire people who never bothered to watch all six of the main SW films?
🎉 congrats, if you want more hard hitting videos like this HFP has so many fan edits that are amazing, they have their own obi wan video that hits similar but it includes animated clone wars scenes that really rip your heart out for obi wan
6:11 The Jedi masters never trusted Anakin from the beginning this is one of the reasons why he fall to the dark side only Obi-Wan trusted Anakin before his fall
There's another really good edit where at the end of Return Of The Jedi, when Palpatine is torturing Luke it shows Vader flashing back to Padme and how much he loved her, and how excited he was at being a father. How he fell to the dark side to do anything to protect his family, before he picks up Palpatine and throws him down the shaft.
Come for the wholesome funny reactions. Stay for the Poopatine. :) You will get that 100k plaque some day soon too! This PTSD video was amazing. Added so much context to Alec Guinness's performance.
Emme, long time subscriber here. I remember when you first started doing SW films nearly 2 years ago. I only drop in occasionally because you watch a lot of stuff I pass on. Anyway, I see you've changed, growing older and better, since I was last here and I'm wishing you well on your YT journey.
Great reaction to a great video congratulations on 50,000 subscribers you deserve it. You’re very entertaining and very heartfelt. You appreciate things which is very good. Most people don’t these days and I’m sure that video is pleased with your reaction. I hope I hope they see your reaction because it’s a really good one shows people appreciate the hard work. People should know that other people appreciate the hard work. I always try to let people know that that’s why I always comment on most things especially things I like, sometimes I want people to know that I appreciate it. Thanks thanks for the fun until next time.
The star wars fans got you to 50k. We absolutely love to see your reactions and the journey of how you became a fan. We're so happy to welcome you to the fandom. 😊
Hello Miss Emme!😊 Congratulations on 50K subscribers!!!🎉🎉🎈🎈🎊🎊🥳🥳 It is well deserved as you are a wonderful reactor!!!!👏👏👏👏They did a great job with this compilation!!!!🏆🏆🏆🏆
Congratulations on 50K, Emme! I remember your very first Clone Wars reaction randomly popped up on my feed a couple years ago, and since then it's been awesome watching your Star Wars journey, and your channel growing right along side of it. Your channel and community was a fun bright spot during a time when I needed a break from everything going on in life at the time, so thank you! Other commentors are suggesting reacting to some of HFP's (Heroes Fan Productions) Star Wars edits, with which I heartily agree, including their video "Kenobi" which I think is even more emotional than this one (plus it delves into his stories from the animated shows). SWFT also has great ones, if you're ever looking for more of these kinds of things to react to during the breaks in between new Star Wars releases. MTFBWYA!
Such a good video! I think your 100k subs reaction (it's coming soon, I know it!) should be Bad Lip Reading - Seagulls. Don't be fooled by the name, it is Star Wars :)
The moment a channel celebrates a subscriber milestone is the same moment I forget what the count was when I subscribed so I can never show off how early I hopped on the bandwagon
Obiwan wasn't there for many of those scenes. So he couldn't have remembered them, unless its some kind of mandala effect through da force. And they left out the last time he saw vader.
This was fun to watch. I hope you'll react to other youtubers star wars videos again in the future. Including youtube poops, there are a lot of good ones for star wars.
Speaking of ptsd you should react to the band of brothers mini series 10 episodes with an unofficial 11th being a documentary. The movie Saving private Ryan is connected to the series as well
This is STAR WARS. a tragedy an opera. Unfortunately, Disney took this entire incredible universe and destroyed it, literally. Today Star Wars no longer exists, it is just a discourse tool. That should never happen in the art of cinema and entertainment. And of course, Anakin's and Obi's paths are like life itself and it is exposed in such a subtle way that if you analyze it very well, it is a parable. This short shows how painful it is to lose hope and a loved one, Obi considered Ani as his brother. ps: congrats for 50K!!! 🎉🎉
Whoever put this original video together did a pretty good job, connecting the first six films with relevant scenes to each other. The Force Awakens was mostly okay, but The Last Jedi was horrendous, and I skipped The Rise of Skywalker. I did end up buying the Obi-Wan Kenobi show on Blu-Ray though, and I'm curious about the programs that take place shortly after Return of the Jedi.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING ME REACH 50K SUBSCRIBERS!!!! ❤
Interesting enough that this video was made before obi wan series would've been interesting to add those scenes
You know @@jian5568, if I’m not mistaken the guy that made this did a remake not too long ago including the scenes from the Obi-Wan show.
Congrats. Won't be long until you hit 100k Emme.
If you have not watched it i would recommend the chosen one by Heroes Fan Productions that video made me cry
You most likely won't see this but you shoukd watch heroes fan productions kenobi tribute it's an amazing video

i love alec guinnes as obi-wan kenobi. he's acting the old mentor to luke so well.
@@YezaOutcast every Arthur needs his Merlin.
Alec Guinness' thousand yard steer is 100% real, he was a royal navy landcraft crewman druring the invasion of Sicily
You absolutely MUST watch HFP's videos. Namely "the chosen one" and "failure is the best teacher".
I second this!
Didn't HFP put out a remastered video of "The chosen one" very recently? I haven't watched it yet.
@@perssontm1628 He did!
And Star Wars: Always
@@tumbleheart4664 I watched it, the new end got me tearin up lol, It's crazy how good he is at editing.

You need to watch HFP "The Chose One", that is the GOAT video. It was remastered today so perfect timing for a reaction!
This needs the "You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker.... I did" scene from Kenobi and it would be perfect. Perfecter than it already is.
Watched that years ago. I really love it. Congrats on 50k! MTFBWY!
Awesome! Thank you!
The power of editing and just one good actor...
