This is amazing. I'm pursuing a UG in chemistry, boy no professor has ever explained these concepts with this clarity.
organic chem is bullshit.....
Like mehhhn he is so damn good
But in india we have to understand this in our highschool 😢
@@boora789nigga there is much more deep study and practical work in university and everyone studies this in high school. But this is taught in first year too and obviously she was learning this during her first year as she is majoring in chemistry.
Salute from Brazil, your videos are awesome and are helping me a lot !
Wow, salute from India lol.
another Brazilian ay!

im so sad i failed my first test and i dont understand mechanisms very well still
It's ok, chemistry is not easy. A good way to start is search for solve exercises, they will really help you, just like math.
1:10 from start to here I spent my whole 11th class understanding addition rxn and now I am a 2nd-year dropper now I get it 😭Love you man huge respect for ya!
For the first time am failing to understand this teacher...I'm so lost here😢😢😢
Don't worry! Go back a few videos to practice or checkout Porfessor Dave, Khan Academy or Crash Course to complement something you may be missing.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
right he just goes straight to it and is not even explaining how you do it.
Basics you need
This is a sort of revision video
I felt the same same too but then I watched another lecture and came back to this lecture and now it makes sense
Helo organic chemistry teacher
Pls I still find it hard to still understand reaction mechanisms pls what do u think I do..
Johnbosco from Nigeria
Thank you sir! It's pretty summarise one especially for me who's studying last minute for finals🤣
Carrying me through this semester. Thank you sosososososo much. Your explanations are the best!
You helped me pass Gen. Chem. for a Nursing Program. YOU'RE MY HERO BR0.
im from ethiopia 🇪🇹🇪🇹 this guy diserve award

all the comments filled with college students.. meanwhile im a high school kid having to understand this shit desperately for JEE
SAME dude same I thought I came for a wrong video but it's a wrong chapter for class 11 it seems
literally me but my work instead of school
I have reached the final form, watching organic chemistry with the sir himself!
I am still getting a bit confused after watching this video. Are we suppose to automatically know what the products are going to be if we are just given the reactants? Would you be willing to explain for me please.
Same confusing
Yes i saw it like that in my past papers
this is my problem too😭😭. I think we are unfortunately. How?, i dont know
@@osazemenamu7034 do exercises and understand your lessons before you watch these videos because now after I studied these reactions I finally understand his videos.
@@FBWUniverseMode What would you recommend us studying before watching videos like this? I'm trying my. best to understand but it's so confusing.
This is literally amazing...I just revised all types of reaction mechanisms in exactly 0.5 hr!
This kind of first learning has never been in my mind this is so astonishing
Moment of silence for those who haven't discovered this channel
i keep getting confused on how to label the molecule:\
Appreciate the video, but how do you know which reagent to use for the reactions (or it is something you have to memorise)?
I really feel so bad because I'm
done with my organic chemistry exam and I now realise this after not understanding mechanisms and still doing it😢,I now understand though, maybe useful in future😌
It was to the point and simple....thanks for making it easier
im studyign chem engineering and damn you saved my semester
I have to say your Channel is awesome! You might save my and many others' asses! The Videos are well structured, accurate, comprehensive, and very well explained. Keep it up!!
Thank you so much...words cannot describe how contented I am...cheers to chemistry
I think you meant to say confused* instead of contented.
i should be paying this guy my school fees😂😂 a big kudos

Why can't the carbon just give it's hydride ion to the 2degree c cation
Why do we need to shift the methyl
19:10 don't we call this the aldol since the final product is alpha beta unsaturated ketone
I'M ABOUT TO WATCH THIS, THE COMMENT SECTION MADE ME WANT TOO HARD WATCH THIS, I THINK I'M GONNA LEARN BETTER THAN EVER
Nice one thank you for helping me understand better 💖
He understood nucleophilic methanol.
I'm confused about something, If I have a youtube membership do I have access to all videos? If I have a patron membership do I have access to all videos?
I think he made a mistake with showing the mechanisms for Cl to OH example, where the double bonds are rearranged!
Meanwhile in Asia we are learning this in grade 10
8:35 Same is with LiAlH4 both of them are strongest reducing agents because of H-
you a snack bruh
I'm sort of understanding but I feel like I fell off the tracks a long time ago, so it is a bit confusing, study guide plsss

We will be orgchem warriors
We will always know how to paint energetic diagram
Our idea of how electrons flow will be always right
Me too. 💔
Watching from here , AFRICA ZAMBIA
My dad is on addition and elimination reactions.
Why its feeling so easy !?
Please up to now the organic reaction mechanism is making me confused, help with the basis
Bashiru Kabiru musa take a deep breath go back to that part and write all the steps down and then try to workout the mechanism. Practice more mechanisms and you’ll understand it better.
@@texanboiii562 tanx sir
you have all my respect
What is going on here?😂
I don’t understand the mechanism at all
8:52 isn’t it a reduction reaction?
Yes it is a reduction reaction. A Ketone is being reduced to Secondary alcohol by NaBH4 reagent.
thank youuuu i barely understand ch8! but im ready for my lecture now
Thank you for existing. Love you!
could you please explain in the next video the Wittig reaction and thank you so much
does SN2 and SN1 works for alkane, alkene and alkynes or only for alkyl halides?
Only for Alkyl Halides, or in other words. Halogenoalkanes
Organic chemistry is made easy by your videos.. 👌👏💐
Are u a indian bro
Easy to comprehend thank u so much
Thanks so much Sir...
4:18 - How would you know what product to expect? Clearly you know, but how, why?
During this reaction two types of products form the major and minor product. The major product would be the one in which the Hydrogen in HBr attaches itself to the rightmost carbon (Markovnikov's rule) and Br attaches to the second carbon from right. The minor product will be when the opposite happens Hydrogen attaches to the second carbon and bromine to the first carbon.

A very useful video...which everyone can easily understand
Thanks so much Sir and more Grace. You are the BEST!
My worries are:
1- When do we use OH- as a nucleophile or as a base?
2- When do we use water molecules as a nucleophile or as a base even when the reagent doesn't contain water?
Please help safe me from these confusions 🙏. Thanks waiting to hear from you soon!!!
Greetings Sir, still waiting for reply 🙏!
@@andujarvis3961 please be quiet im trying to study
@@andujarvis3961 reply to this , so if I'm ever in a position to help you some time soon , I'll remember to respond
In nucleophilic substitution reactions OH acts as a nucleophile while in elimination reaction it acts as a base
20:25 OH- is a nucleophile so it can substitute for Br right? But after the reaction Br- is also a nucleophile so does the reverse reaction happen again? Or why can only OH- substitute?
Before I found this video, I was lost, but now I'm found. Thank u Organic Chem Tutor

28:15 why does the oxygen in NO2 have a negitive charge
Some one please explain
Oxygen and the members of Oxygen family tend to form 2 bonds with other atoms. However, they if form a single bond, they acquire a negative charge on them. And if they form 3 bonds, they acquire a positive charge. The Oxygen atom in this case has only one bond (With Nitrogen), so it has acquired a negative charge on it. Similarly, Nitrogen and it's family form 3 bonds but in this case, N has 4 bonds so it has a formal charge of +1.
If you want detailed explanation, you can search for other videos on this channel. It really helped me with my Organic chemistry.
Thank you😊
Thank you helped me a lot ❤️🙌🏻
