For a native USA listener this probably just sounds nice.. but for a born Slovenian - this touches the very soul. Troopers, perhaps better U didn't understand those lines - man in tears can't sing so good..
Great performance of a great song! For those who don't speak Slovene, here is my rough translation to English (not the best one, I know), just to help you understand this beautiful lyrics, especially in this chaotic and difficult time. The Linden tree was turning green There in the fragrant grove, sprinkled me with flowers, I felt like I was in heaven. It streched its branches High up to the sky And reached the deepest Parts of my heart. It invited little birds To its shaddow And when I was laying under it I felt refreshed. Now the poor tree Is barely alive, The winter took its Flowers and green leaves. Just sleep, my dear, my love, You wil not sleep forever, New Spring time will come And new flowers will grow. There will be birds again, Happy birds, Singing the joyful songs In your green branches.
This Slovenian American is touched. Great job on the pronunciation, especially on a language that isn't often heard outside Slovenia. Thank you, US Army Chorus!
This is a real Slovenian anthem. The linden tree in Slovenian history is a symbol of companionship, friendship, kindness, and mutual help. The profound message of Vilhar's poem is that love is eternal and its energy never dies.
Globoko sporočilo celemu svetu, da zopet bodo ptičice vesele, pesmi nam prepevale. Neverjetno lepa interpretacija. Hvala vam. Ponos in hvaležnost iz Slovenje.
Lipa zelenela je translates to The linden tree grew green. It's 170 years old song describing a linden tree trough one year cycle. Wishing about it growing green when Spring returns to the land. And linden to Slovenes is like maple tree to Canadians. You can spot linden trees growing all around our little country. It's part of our national pride. To hear these fine men singing this evergreen song from the other part of the world, a song in a language only about 2 million people speak, a song about craving for better times ... This is pure gold. I salute you fine men. Bravo.
OMG, this brought tears to my eyes. An excellent performance of this song of resilience and hope in times of hardship. This is one of my favourite folk songs and hearing you sing it so well, down to the excellent pronounciation of what must be a difficult language to you is really moving. A symbol of how we are all much more alike than different, that reaches out across the distance and touches people's hearts. You've forged a beautiful connection with this. -Exactly what we need during these Corona virus times. Thank you for this, and stay safe and God bless you. - From an Aussie Slovene currently in lockdown with her family amids the beautiful Slovenian countryside.

This song is deeply connected to the history of Slovene nation. It was the last publicly performed Slovenian song before the period of cultural silence which started on 12.12. 1941. Thank you for your performance.
That. Was. Beautiful. Thank you!
