Awesome to see you posting ride videos again John! As always, great enthusiasm, awesome camera work and beautiful scenery make your vids a must see! Can't wait for the next one! Keep posting and stay safe buddy.
Nice job John, love to share in your trips!! Sorry I can't be as enthusiastic about the deer... LOL!!! They are so common here, that I cringe when I have to ride at dawn or dusk...
I am just north of SLC. Cold in the winter with no riding. Summer is a great time to ride. I put lots of miles on my bike riding down to southern Utah in the summer.
Hey man. I know you were thinking about a trip to Yellowstone. I just got back from a trip up there. I went up I-15 to Idaho state route 20 to West Yellowstone, Montana. Throught the park, then through the Grand Teton National Park into Jackson, Wy. I think it is one of the most epic rides you could take. Almost as epic as the PCH. I will post a vid in a week or so. Let me know if you have any questions about the route. I think you should take that ride for sure.
It depends on when you want to go. I got hotel reservations about 10 days in advance. All the campgrounds were booked up. I ended up in cheeper hotels along the way. I stayed in West Yellowstone and Jackson. It is easy to get lodging close to SLC if that would be one of your stops. All of yellowstone is fantastic, but for sure go see Upper and Lower falls, and old faithful. Also, jenny lake is a must to ride past. My computer died, so I will get the vid up when I can (maybe two weeks).
I love the Shadows, they are great bikes. As far as highway versatility, the 750 is under powered. I can cruise at 75 without killing the mpgs, but if you go too much higher than that it will definitely come down. Cali to Idaho is a huge trip, you have to stop every 100-120 miles for gas and honestly your body needs the break from the ride. If you are looking at making that trip a lot you might want to look into something a little big with a full faring. Hope this helps.
That's the route I was thinking about taking. Glad to hear that it's a good ride. Do you have any suggestions for campgrounds or for things to see in Jackson / Grand Tetons / Yellowstone? I don't have reservations anywhere... do you think that is going to be an issue? I'd love to hear any advice you have to offer on the trip. Thanks!!
Good idea... It's not at all uncommon to see a deer carcass laying along side of the road here in Nebraska... Not a lot of people hit a deer with a bike at highway speeds and live to tell about it. Ride safe and take care!! Greg
What part of Utah are you from? That's a great state to ride in. I'm trying to do a ride this summer through Utah up to Wyoming, maybe yellowstone. We'll have to see how it comes together. I'll shoot over to your channel and check out the videos. Thanks for the heads up.
I bet that if you live in a place with a lot of deer that it could get old pretty fast. For me it was really cool to see because we don't see many deer in Las Vegas. While I was riding through the thought occurred to me that I really need to slow it down and stay alert so I don't hit one of those little bastards.
The ride through Zion it's self is pretty short, but there are lots of places to pull off and take pictures. Also, you can ride through and out the other side if you are looking for a longer ride. There is a lot of great riding places up there. I rode from Las Vegas which is about 2.5 hours away.
Hey, Could you update link to un-cut video? I can't see this views by my own. But I would be happy to look at it from your point of view. Thanks for sharing. Thumbs up!
What size spacers do you have on your license plate just got the same bike as you but the guy I bought it from ghetto rigged it with a bent spacer and a small one.
How does the bike handle on big highways like I-10? Does it cruise comfortably at high speeds, or are you having to open it up? and whats the gas mileage like?
quick question john. I'm buying the honda shadow phantom in a few weeks and sort of plan on making trips back and forth from california to idaho (10 hour ride or so) how hard is it going to be on a 750?
I think Utah is a great place to ride. My only word of warning is that Southern Wyoming is long, windy, and straight. Rock Springs, Larimie, and Rawlins are good places not to go riding. Stick with northern Wyoming like Jackson.
+Mike Knop I took a picture of it for you, but I don't have anywhere to post it, but I found a link to a similar burner at a Sportsman store. Here is the link: www.leftlanesports.com/product.aspx?p=CLM01244&a=GoogleBase&gclid=CKbk8NKTt8wCFUdbfgodVEMN6g

Look like a Good trip Man :) Peace from Morocco casablanca
This was a great ride. Zion also has some great places to eat. All around a great place to ride and hang out.
Dude the worse thing you can do on a motorbike video is speed things up I can happily watch this at normal speed
Thanks for the comment TFR. How's that Cali weather treating you? It was 106 degrees here today.
Great Comment. I really appreciate the support.
I'm hoping to take a trip out to So-Cal / LA area this summer, no guarantees but if I'm in the area I'll shoot some video.
great road!
No need to be jealous, just get a bike cause the road is free!! Thanks for the comment!!

Not to worry Leo, I got one in the works.
Have you been up that way? Great place to ride!!

if hou had to choose between a shadow 750 or vt 1300 Honda stateline, which one you would prefer ?
