Glad that one guy grabbed it before it got scrapped. Neat to see this man bought it and uses it today. It's a beautiful tractor. It would have been such a waste scrapping that tractor, it is a part of history.
This is the problem with too progressive...why scrap it? Why not remember it at least. Put to work in the fields. What a waste to say go and scrap this hp that someone certainly would take. Thanks to this man.
For sure! Just like so many other things lost forever for scrap... This is one of my favorite tractors and I am so happy to see that its still out there.
If your good with a welder and lots of time on your hands, I couldnt see why you couldn't mate a the pivot/front end of a 3588 to a rear of say a 52/5488. That being said, the front axle would still be too light if you used a 3588 front end.
I have 3 3588s cheap powerhard to beet for some things worst thing about them is the 86 sires cab i always thought it must have been designed by j d spy
That bothers me when they just scrap stuff that someone could get thousands of hours out of. My family had a dairy farm north of Grand Meadow Mn and we bought a new 3388 within about a year of them hitting the market. Farm was sold in 1981 Clement who I wouldn’t trust any farther than I could throw him.

Wow...what a great story. Thank you!

Well anything is possible if you have a 3588 or even 6388 even on your own it's possible to make your own 72-7488...

I love these tractors sad what happened to international and so many other brands
Here,in South-Africa,we use to call them "Pinocchio": because of their long noses.
