The fact that town was confident that the dedication of a nondescript trash can with a hastily put together sign would be well received speaks volumes of Conan and his relationship with his fans.
Conan! We talked about this. You signed an NDA with the whole "murder" thing, Just Kidding! It was a pleasure having you in our small city. You brought so many smiles and laughs to our community during a time when things were just getting out of the roughness (COVID) of the last few years. You are always welcome to come back and shoot your traveling show here. Take care and "Have some good time."
What he left out in the podcast was that the 'speech' was more of a roast, and a pretty good one too! The events were even more hilarious that I imagined.
I live in Seattle. I've visited Whidbey island hundreds of times. Being a truck driver, I've delivered their several times as well. The ferry ride from Everett is nice. You can also drive up to Anacortes and enter onto the island over the Deception pass bridge. The view is breathtaking. I recommend the trip. Thanks for stopping by Conan.
@@lb5368 Oh yeah. Deception pass bridge is... WOW. When I was a child, my father would take us boating in the San Juans. We would pass through Deception pass allmost every time just because my dad got excited about the whirlpools in that stretch of water during tidal changes. Then we would camp on Sucia island, Lopez island, or Orcas island.
Conan can do travel shows across the U.S. He can rent a podcast studio for a week and interview random guests from that town. "Conan Needs A Friend in Colorado" or something!
I've been to a live taping of Conan and went to his stage show. I never dreamed of trying to meet him because I didn't want to find out that he's not what I hoped him to be. I regret it now. He seems genuinely nice and awesome.
this is truly a testament to when the writers of the conan o brien show have said in one of their interviews.. they said strange things like this keep happening with conan when he is doing the remote shoot, they didnt even need to stage anything... lol, really wish you would do another travel show conan :)
I went to high school with the “kid”, shoutout granite bay high. his name is basil and he was always so nice and always dressed up. Hope he gets far in life.
Wow I feel like I saw a video of the actual moment the trash can was “dedicated” to him a long time ago. It really says a lot about how far ahead these are filmed in advance.
I just had to watch this for the first time and it’s all amazing Conan is the best! That drawing was awesome The snowball on how this all went down is why we love Conan and tune in
South Whidbey High class of 2000 checking in here. Just wanted to let you know that it was customary to end the school year with class skits performed for the school at a pep rally type deal. Our senior year skit was a version of "In the Year 2000", which we all know was 100x funnier when done IN the year 2000 Conan & Langley. A love story for the ages.
Conan retired and now he's reaping the rewards . You know you've hit it big when you have a trash can named in your honor . I think park bench thanks for the memories Conan.
I think he loves that about her! Especially as her laugh is a hearty chuckle filled with warmth. I think he also appreciates her sense of family and authenticity - she seems very down to earth, warm and authentic. He seems to have connected with her family as well (the visits to see her dad in hospital etc). I’m sure in his world of fakeness he appreciates her realness, AND that she is a GREAT audience.
This is similar to the time when you were at UC San Diego and they renamed Sixth College to Conan O’Brien college. It was banners made of paper with pencil writing. I went to that school and I was at the theatre haha. That was a great performance.
Imagine your greatest life skill is "witty hipster" and everywhere you go you're useless. Nobody needs what you've got, you've been permanently benched. And then one day you're getting a cappuccino and a light shines on you and you hear the voices of angels. "What are doing right now? We need somebody to write a speech dedicating a trash can to Conan O'Brien."
I’m pretty sure “Have some good time!” will go down in cultural history alongside “Live long, and prosper 🖖”. I mean, Conan’s got all the inherent grace and dignity of Leonard Nimoy, right?
The fact that town was confident that the dedication of a nondescript trash can with a hastily put together sign would be well received speaks volumes of Conan and his relationship with his fans.
This is the most Conan award that Conan will ever receive
it's definitely something Conan would've done to a comic when he was that age

Nice that the town "got it". They absolutely nailed the ceremony and trash can dedication.
Langley is a retirement town full of artist, and people who don’t take themselves to seriously~ lots of hippies too, loved living there
@@agma_si1879 I'm in. Where do I sign?
@@PoeticallyTwiztedbased on this clip, probably on a wastebasket
@@agma_si1879honestly this sounds like my kinda town
The intercutting with actual clips showing it really happened because you can never know for sure with Conan was hilarious.
You can clearly distinguish between Conan's real and improvised stories unlike Norms'😂
I saw your comment before watching the video… then Conan said “I dabbled in murder”
I mean, If I saw that kid in the bowtie and tan blazer in a coffee shop, I'd assume he could write a quick speech for Conan O'Brien too
He has a future in comedy I think... The mayor's office has better hire him for their PR department!
The fact that the town had such a great sense of humor, is awesome!
That kind of a wind is a real possibility here on Whidbey Island! November into April isn’t winter for us. It’s windstorm season.
The way it isn't even a fancy trash can. Just literally a trash can 😂
If it was a fancy trashcan, they would have had to dedicate it to Jourdan.
Literally what I was expecting. I thought they would have custom made themed for Conan, but no. Just slap in a paper with "The Conan Can" written 😂
What he left out in the podcast was that the 'speech' was more of a roast, and a pretty good one too! The events were even more hilarious that I imagined.
Really great story telling!
I had some good time watching this.
“Have some good time!” 🤣🤣🤣
I very enjoyed it
Okay, this was delightful. The most charming town, and with Conan tired out that whole experience must have felt so surreal.
Langley is a beautiful town of artist, retires, and hippies~ loved living and visiting my family there
Conan’s face when the kid said he was retired 😂

100% agree! The whole area is scenic, but especially Deception Pass (the entire state park is gorgeous)!

4:13 Conan's so great at doodling!
If this is the return of Conan Travels than I'm all for it 😆 saw that video a few weeks back and it was very sweet
Amazing, I live on Whidbey near there.
This was the big gossip of the week and it’s a real treat to hear it from Conon’s perspective.
Conan can do travel shows across the U.S. He can rent a podcast studio for a week and interview random guests from that town. "Conan Needs A Friend in Colorado" or something!
Love this idea!
This trash can honor is epic!! I hope the speech writer sees this! "Have some good time".
That kid's speech was pretty good!
@@Flying_Basil yes it was!

That kid really made a speech in perfect conan humour just great!
This guy is hilarious, he ought to have his own TV show.
He can have mine but i want it back in 6 months
@@chanandlerbong2477 He can have mine, we will treat him like the Late Night 👑 he is and he can stay with us for as long as he wants 🧡
Glad to see Conan having some good time after retirement
I am so proud of Conan. He deserves it.
Pretty sure he has a lot of trash cans at home

I saw this video randomly and assumed it was old
Thanks for sharing the link - fun video!
I love the "permanent" plaque they put on the trash can. it will be there for generations to come*. [*or until a strong wind blows it away]
Conan Obrien is currently the funniest person alive. I've been recovering from covid and this podcast is the only thing that relives the suffering !
Conan and It's Always Sunny are the only things helping my crippling depression that is my life
Same! Just with shiny sprinkles of crippling anxiety
I think it's amazing that a town came together to do a bit for Conan like this.
This group never disappoints!!
'Have Some Good Time' -A.I. Conan hacking into Conan's brain through the pompadour antennae
Having some good time!!!
Thanks Cone bones and the Chill tones.
I see why Sonia is Conan's assistant. Her laugh is the best gift for a comedian
If I'm down and need a laugh, I know that if I listen to 'Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend' I will have some good time.
I went to high school with the “kid”, shoutout granite bay high. his name is basil and he was always so nice and always dressed up. Hope he gets far in life.
I loved, "have some good time". Heck language is generative, we get to manipulate words.
I bet Conan always has some good time!

I’d watch a Conan travel show that’s just places across the US! Thanks Sweeney for getting some of this on video!
Petition to bring back Conan Without Borders (with Jordan Schlansky) ✊

This is fantastic. It's so conan which is why I love it. God I love the absurdity
The fact that it’s just a piece of paper that says THE CAN (Conan) is the cherry on top of the joke. 😆😆😆
I like those kinds of trashcans with pebbles on them....kind of nostalgic to me haha
That story has the structure of a Shakespeare play.
It must have been a happy experience for everybody to see Conan o'Brien finally getting the can!
I love that his wife stood by proudly like he's about to receive a lifetime achievement award!
I think we've all done this. I went to say either "good job" or "well done" to someone and ended up saying "good done!"
Lol saw the clip before this podcast segment. His wife looks really sweet. They deserve eachother
I think I'd love living in a town like that
I've been to Whidbey Island and, um there's a lot of beautiful things there. That's an interesting choice way to celebrate you.
I like that it's a singular send-off..."Have some good time!" Just one good time...and no more.
i had some good time finally seeing some of the footage from that ceremony
I love that I saw the video of this that was posted by one of the Islanders last week. And now I got to hear Conan’s perspective of the experience. 🤣

I have found that clip a few weeks ago and I was surprised that had just few views and interactions, it's cool they talk about it here now hehe
