Good review and comparison thanks Boydo. The Pilsner Urquell cans from Aldi have been a revelation recently. The bitterness is out there - very different from the brown bottles, I've found. Please keep up the entertaining reviews.
Hey Mate, thanks for the comment! Appreciate it! Sorry where are you based? I haven’t seen Pilsner Urquell cans in Aldi in Sydney, I’m very very keen to get my hands on some to see the difference!
@@BeersWithBoydo I'm in Melbourne...checked my local Aldi in Northcote today and there are plenty; on clearance as well for $13.50 a 4-pack for the 500ml cans. Seems it's not to everyone's taste. I'm not surprised because the bitterness would be quite full-on for Aussie lager drinkers. Not for me though!!
Great video, mate. Both beers are fantastic examples of the style. Budvar is also occasionally available at Aldi for a pretty good price. Good call out for local independent breweries to brew more European lagers. I think that there has been a bit of a shift in that direction in the last 12 months or so. There are a few reasons behind it but at the end of the day, it’s good for lager lovers. Cheers!
Cheers Her! Thanks mate, yes I have seen a small shift but think there is still big opportunities for independent brewers to focus on the style, lets wait and see!
Budějovický (Czech) = Budweiser (German) = Of Budweis/Budějovice You have a Czech import, so it's in Czech, bud internationally German words for Czech cities are used, so it's more commonly known as Budweiser Budvar (Budvar of Budweis). "Var" means "brew" and Bud is just short for Budějovice, so the name actually means "the Budweis' brew of Budweis"
Love the background where you film these reviews 😂
Ha ha I bet you do!!

Awesome mate! Love this knowledge! Thank you!
A classic pilsner is bitter. A lager is lighter
Yes fair point there! Love it
