SO confusing on the Dolby Audio. BOX says Dolby Audio AND Vision, and so does the Sony Website... I just bought the Sony STR-DH790 7.2 and using whatever I end up keeping for 90% just my 8-12 hours a day gaming on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Gave up laptop and desktop gaming due to very poor health. But Amazon has this for just $199.00 tonight so I just ordered this as well and if I can just get one that sounds good to MY old ears I will return the Sony STR-DH790 7.2 and keep this one. I see no way to set this one up with Dolby Audio to be honest but then I am not at all up on this so???? GREAT info so THANK you for this video:-) I can likely give up the Dolby Audio but losing the DTS is a BIG HITY I do not want to go without and again, Sony shows this does have DTS yet you are saying it does NOT? Sure makes it tough doing all this guessing:-) I also HATE to do any returns. But then 1/2 price for the SAME AMPS etc?????
Well bloody hell everyone and their mother wants a home theater set up. This receiver is listed at $328 at the Amazon link. Sad times for entry gear getting overpriced.
Can you access the sound fields without using the TV set as your display? Can you access the sound fields on the display on the front of the amplifier? And which button on the remote access is the sound field?
I got it for 179 I believe on Black Friday, may have been a one time price, but I'd imagine at some point, some sale, it would drop to that price again.
I bought mine last black Friday and I like it only problem I have it doesn't have a built in fan for cooling so it tends to over heat when you blasting it..
Do AV receivers from Marantz or Denon have built-in coolers? And how hot does it actually get? And how many cm of open space do you have above the receiver?
Still having issues with XBOX1X and Sony DH590... I changed the AMP Menu to "Enhanced" but it fried my XBOX1X HDR output completely (would go to no tv signal at all)... hard reset the TV (TCL 55 635) and the XBOX1X.. and was able to fix it by swapping the HDMI cable after still having no signal hooked up to a PC monitor. Right now running the XBOX1X back to the TV the old way and using the optical cable connection for audio with the Sony STR DH590. I am afraid of trying to run the XBOX1X back through the Sony receiver. I think I will get new HDMI cables and try again...
This is now $280, and not worth it at that price. When I first bought it, the auto calibration could detect speaker sizes, but now it identifies all speakers as "large" no matter what.

When I use it through my TV it does not sound nearly as good, I I think my TV may be tuning the sound funny. I don’t need a ton of features (Atmos, AirPlay, etc.) and am looking to connect a few devices to it. Would I be able to connect the sound bar through optical or HDMI ARC and take the TV out of the equation (other than video, obviously)? Your input would be much appreciated!

I am unable to get 4K 60Hz RGB/444/422 through the HDMI ports when attaching an Android TV stick that allows selectable output. So if you want to hook up your Windows 10 gaming PC to this, and get 4K 60Hz RBG even at 8 bit, not going to happen, at least not when I tried it multiple times.
You cannot get 4k 60Hz RGB through HDMI you need display port and I'm still researching about some problems with Android TV as I have Sony and I'm planning to build AVR system.

Question, I have had mine for only 3 months and the volume goes up on its own as if the volume up button is being pushed down. Has this ever happened to u??? The STR DH590 is used properly by only myself and the air vents are not being blocked. Any idea what is wrong with this receiver???
Hasn't happened to me, no clue on what could be causing it. Maybe set it to factory and see if it still does it
can you completely turn led display off on the avr for movie time with the remote.
Not that I've found. The menu functions are pretty basic on this model keeping it simple.
are able to adjust the sound/video like in case when audio and the video not in sync?
originalmente había adquirido el denon x1400h y... las películas se oían muy bien, pero la música taba pa llorar. y hace unos días atras agarré el sony str dh 590 y la música se oye bieeeeeen chida y las películas tambien
Is it possible to get more power with this AV receiver? I have a 5.1 system on it but it clicks to protect quiet often. Is there any way to get more power with an external amp or something or just need to upgrade the receiver? Any input is appreciated thanks.
This is a low budget receiver, I'd recommend upgrading something more powerful
Jacob Dark What’s a good budget powerful AV receiver that has 4K picture and crisp sound for movies and loud music? Any advice?? Thanx
What game is that??
Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018) Great Game!
Is there any way to stop the volume from displaying on the TV?
Don't think so, my Denon does the same
@@JacobDarkOfficial thank you!
Do you have the problem where it turns off the screen whe you change volume at 4k mine goes to black then comes back on after the volume is changed
I'd like to know this as well...
Out of interest what game was that?
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
can it function as a 2.1 system?
It can work in any configuration you want. 2 channel, 2.1, 3.1, 5.1, 7.1. The options are endless. :)
@@ShadowLinkxMaster not 7.1 though. It's a 5.2. receiver.
Fly eagles fly! Thanks for the knowledge bro
it is $279 now in Bestbuy and amazon :(
$269.88 now at BrandsMart USA
*Watching on my phone*
Oh yeah sounds good 😛
thxs Jacob! Just ordered one from shopmyexchange*, $169. Will replace an aging Yamaha (still works) which is a pain to configure & has no OS display. $61 less than the Denon AVR-S540BT refurb I was considering. Will report back any additional info. *sometimes being a Vet/Military has its perks :^o
I have the STR-DN1080 which gets no love but I like it.
Where you find under 200 bucks
Is lie watching video and at the end click on link for Amazon and see is more than 500 bucks.
So title of vide should be ( I get lucky and I get 550 dólar receiver for under 200 dollars)
Good luck
Prices are dynamic, they don’t stay the same 24/7.
Sony 1080 are best 👍
Have it myself and beat all other had before 👍
This is a little too much for a desk set up, I have a Logitech z5300 that I've had since 2005 on my desk and even it's too much.
Any idea how to get it to work with pc 4k output?
did you ever figure it out?
@@MegaBuzzedGaming yeah, you gotta change some setting under HDMI, then yougotta deal with windows settings. it was so long ago i forgot the specifics, sorry
@@Pidgey7378 no problem thanks, looking to buy one now, so doing some reviews.

Show or tell, don't do both, the first minute of this is useless and not helping anyone.
