Can you get to the point? Sometimes you all that extra commentary is irritating. I'll be glad when you get to how you get to Chromebook to print documents
I appreciate the help, but spending more than half of the video just telling me how easy it is to do without actually telling me how to do it is frustrating when one is in a hurry. Maybe less chat and more to the point?
Very Funny! My new HP deskjet plus 4100 is listed as compatible with Chromebook. I go through the Chromebook install just as you say and everything works with no errors. Then I try to print. I get an error saying it can't find the printer. It shows up in the list just like it did in the install but no print. I upgraded Chrome-os and re-installed but still no print. I'm ready to return the printer to the store. I have 3 Windows devices that have no problem printing to it.
I know this video is for an HP printer but I have a Canon wireless printer that I've used with 3 different chromebooks over at least the last 5 years with Cloud Print with no issues. Now the printer is showing up when I try to setup the native printing but it won't automatically or manually add it. I guess it's not compatible. Is google really going to make me buy a new printer!?!
I have the same problem with a Canon MX922. Worked fine with cloud print. Isn't on the compatible list for Chrome OS's new print service. Have a workaround using a phone and Canon Print Service to print off Google Drive, but boy is that awkward.
Google's failure to properly address or even acknowledge printing issues will be the downfall of Chrome OS if they don't deal with it very soon. I have an HP which has been fine, with my Chromebook (although the Chrome OS 86 update messed it up for some models) but I hear about issues with Canon, Epson and several others. Why the rush to get rid of CloudPrint for all these other printers that seem to need it?
I have an older Canon printer. It works fine with both my Android phone and my Chromebook. It doesn't have to be a new HP, just needs to be on the same WiFi network.

i just today struggeld to print on my "brother hl 2030" printer and needed to pull out my windows laptop to do it - just printed white pages and from googling it its something a lot of people have. It was working before an then somewhere around chrome 74 it stopped
Chrome has come along way with setting up printers. The Cloud printing never really worked right. Every time I wanted to print I would have to re-register the printer. But a couple of years ago, connecting to a printer was pretty easy and always stayed connected. My Brother MFC-L2700DW which is about 4 years old works perfectly with my Chromebooks.
I've only been using Chrome OS for a week. I had already paired my HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 with my Android phone and my WIN 7 Pro PC. Turned on the printer and my Acer Spin 713. Typed CTRL + P and the printer and the Chromebook did the rest. Paired in under a minute. Prints faster than with my PC. Printing looks great! Another great video from Chrome Unboxed. Y'all are my single source for learning how to use this Chromebook and Chrome OS. Thanks! Happy and HEALTHY New Year!!! Stay Safe.
I've got an Epson printer and I've never had issues with printing, it's just shared over the network and Chrome OS picked it up. Doesn't Chrome OS use CUPS ?

It only works if "AirPrint" is set on on the HP printer (on a HP Envy 5000 series) because it activates the IPP protocol.
You're leaving out a couple of key issues with Chrome OS and the HP Smart app... first, it won't let you print any documents or spreadsheet... you need to convert these to PDF first. Also, you don't need your phone. The HP Smart Print app installs on your Chromebook as an Android app. Unfortunately, the ChromeOS HP Print Extension (which was far better) stopped working properly with the ChromeOS 86 update. It was better than the HP Smart app as it would print anything without having to convert to PDF first. Neither HP or Google seems to have any interest in fixing the issues that arose with the ChromeOS 86 update so for now it looks like the HP Smart option is the best option if you have an HP printer
You spend a lot of time talking about the things that don't work instead of just getting to what does work. Over half of your time is useless chat. VERY tedious. And, HP "Smart" DOES NOT find the printer. The one from which I just wirelessly printed a test page from another computer.
I had a chance to tryout a Google Pixelbook Go at home. As part of setting up the Chromebook I went to settings and went to the printer section and it asked for the IP address of the printer. I put that in and it saw my HP Envy 4500 instantly and I was good to go. No app needed. 👍
WTF is with the endless rambling of people on RUclips? about 50 seconds of useful information packed in the middle of a 6 minute video. At least I can understand the language.
HP smart app wants you to sign up for $39.00 dollars a month. Beware, HP virtual assistants love to get on you laptop/chromebook mess with your computer and put charges on your credit card.
Should be fine, as long as the ethernet and wi-fi are the same network, i.e. coming from the same router. I'm doing it the other way (Chromebook via ETH and the printer on wi-fi) and it works just fine. The tools/ apps/ drivers shouldn't go any deeper into the stack than layer 3 in my understanding so to the software ethernet and wi-fi should look the same.
I was able to add my HP Deskjet 4133 to my wireless network and I can see it as "ready" status on my HP smart app however when I try to save the printer on my Acer Chromebook 315 I get an error that says the printer is no longer available. How can I fix this so that I can print from my chromebook. I'm able to print fine from my phone so it has something to do with my set up in the Chromebook.
I just bought an HP 3755 All in One and could NOT get it to link to my Chromebook. Supposedly it can only be hooked up by opening my router, which my husband refused to do.
3:41 I see my printer but it says it's unavailable. (Nor will it show up when I try to add it as a new). I am attempting to get my printer to connect to the wifi. HOW??? I have a google pixel with the app, and a chromebook. It was somehow working, but then I moved and have new wifi service.
hate chromebooks! why the hell do you need a mobile phone to connect to a laptop, overcomplicated crud. My mobile cannot fin the printer either. Never buying chromebook again. I connected directly to my HP laptop, no issue.
Try it again. The paper came out with just some of it but the main part most of the paper comes out with just a little writing and the rest is blank. I cannot figure out where you say that you look into your Chromebook and it shows the HP is there, but how do you pull up that page to look into your Chromebook? I don't know where the find that what you're showing on your Chromebook. Please can you be a little more specific for some of us who are not tech savvy?
This video was not helpful. HP smart is not intended to work with google products. the app doesn't work. this is a headache and only adds to the frustration.
Why Did you show how to hook up an HP printer to a phone. I want to know how to hook up a chromebook to sn hp printer. This was useless. In fact you really didn't show enough for the phone either.
I can't seem to connect to my hp printer with my asus chromebook. It list it under my saved printers, but it won't print to it unless it's attached with the cable.
Thank you so much. I packed up my chromebook and came to my daughters to print something important and was about to panic. This tutorial was straight to the point and only took 3 mins.
Plugged in usb-to-printer cable (Amazon $7), went to printer (search in settings on chrome book), and there it was. Not sure what effect my previous experiments had. Used HP Smart on iPhone to set up printer, and then it was at least seen by chrome book, but got message saying not supported. It’s possible just plugging in usb cable would do it. I suspect it’s a security issue which usb connection obviates. Also tried “hp print for chrome” which allowed recognition but not use.
I am having an AWFUL time with my tango connecting and my laptop recognizing my tango. I have called and called and talked and talked and been through so many processes and my tango is not recognozed. This is supposed to be extremely simple. I have an HP Google chromebook, and HPTango printer. I have had these products for 2 years now. I recently moved, got another wifi set up for my home, and nothing. Finally managed to find the printer on my mobile phone device after instructing the app to set the printer up as a new device, even though I had just set the printer up using the HP smart app after I downloaded onto my laptop. So I had to go through the set up process twice, once on my HP laptop and once on my android mobile phone (which I have no intention of printing from!) to get the Chromebook to access and successfully use the HP ENVY 6000 printer. Yes that was real easy.....NOT😤😡😠🤬
You sound like you're from my homestate Va. Anyway, do all chromebooks 315 connected to some printer? I looked up the ones that are compatible with CB and I decided on HP 2755e. Thanks for this really clear video. Second question, I thought you could just set up the printer on the CB screen by tapping the clock and then following through. How will I know if need HP Smart app?
I went to the Play Store and tried to download the HP Smart app. I clicked install, it started the download and within 5 seconds, it stopped downloading and defaulted back to "Install". What ever happened to Plug and Play. This HP 6055 is a royal pain in the ass. I think it's going back to Best Buy. Hate these "invisible" buttons and that stupid multi colored light that we're supposed to "interpret" what the lights mean. The eggheads at HP must have had too much time on their hands.
I have my chromebook flip 34 connected to an HP Envy Photo All in one 7855 printer. If I print something and go away for an hour or so and come back it won't print. Says the PC isn't connecting to the printer. If I restart the chromebook, it will print. what's going on?
If it helps, I have had the Android app on my Chromebook for some time and it works the same. I don't know why he is using his phone in this video... maybe just forgot to mention it could be installed right on the Chromebook

I do need a new printer and I did start using a chromebook. I'll give it a try!
Legend, Been looking for this for yeyeyeyeyeaaaaarrrrssss!!!
Hey sir , I have a hp Chromebook and an hp 315 usb wired printer , I have difficulty connecting them . Please help me .
It printed but it did not print everything from my Chromebook to my printer. This is really not helping me
My son’s chrome book won’t let me print his homework on deskjet 2722
Try using a wire
hiii can you do a tutorial on how to print on canon ip2770 using chromebook? i'm having a trouble cause my chromebook can't print on it
too much talking 2minutes plus before the actual action you want
Stop rambling and frickin' get to it!
do you like to hear yourself talk just get to the point
Jesus christ this guy talk too much!!!
Bad instructional video!!!
The actual tutorial starts at 3:24 for those who don't want a history lesson in Chromebook printing and just want to know how to set up the printer.
Lol
I just kept yelling, "Get to the point already"
OMG thank you! Such a drawn out rhetorical introduction
Fuck, seriously!
Tysm bruh he kept rambling
I just bought an HP printer and have a Chromebook. This video couldn't have been posted at a better time for me. Thanks for uploading it.
How about scanning a document to Chromebook? Thank you in advance
I second this😢😢
Need to know like yesterday.
Go to settings > advanced > print and scan > scan
Spent a ton of time saying it is easy and no time actually explaining how to connect printer to chromebook if it doesn't auto show
I appreciate the help, but spending more than half of the video just telling me how easy it is to do without actually telling me how to do it is frustrating when one is in a hurry. Maybe less chat and more to the point?
Chromebook only works on Wifi /wireless print?
That means printer must have Wifi feautere.?

Nice video. Unfortunately I have some old laptops that don't get Chrome OS updates. So they work with cloud print but not direct.

im having the same issue, did you ever figure it out?

I agree!
I second that.

Did everything you said and STILL does not link my new Chromebook to my HP printer. Say's NO DETECTED

Canon Pixma G3200 is not compatible as of July 2 2021, if you have any news just respond. Thanks !!!
It don't show up
I suggest everytime you make a video you tell us what chromebook you are using. Even if it is in the description
Good call!!! Added printer and Chromebook to the description.

I wish my old toshiba laptop still worked. I should have never bought this chromebook.
Could you please get on with the direction without the upfront talk that is not necessary!
is there an HP LASER printer that works well with a chromebook?
Still says printer is no longer available on the chrome book end. I can’t find a workaround.
I simply want to know how to print back-to-back -- duplex printing.
Pretty simple, takes a load off my mind. Does this also make printing from an android phone possible?
I can print from my android phone.
Thank you so much. I packed up my chromebook and came to my daughters to print something important and was about to panic. This tutorial was straight to the point and only took 3 mins.
any idea how to scan with HP 2300 series on chromebook?

How about sitting on your hands? Very distracting.

How to setup canon ip2770 on chromebook??
the printer is not showing up on the chrome book
omg repeat yourself a million times why dont you
Does it work with the HP Neverstop? I'm thinking about getting that printer.
HP says it is compatible with the HP Smart app. It is highly likely that a Chromebook will see it on the network but I'm not 100% on that.
My printer is showing amber light solid only
