Thanks John - I have the Godox V1, so I'm sure it will work well, as you say. Looks like I need to buy a bigger umbrella. Your videos are very informative and one of the most helpful, and practical RUclipsrs out there!
Westott has a running deal on a 3 pack of the 7' umbrellas. It comes with 1 shoot through, 1 silver interior and 1 white interior for $199 USD. Each one comes with a carrying case.
Thanks so much h for you time ans sharing. I have a large indoor event in Aacramwnto, CA. This weekend and will be taking my 6 foor umbrella. Was trying to decide how many lights and which foe the varying setup. This video helped tremendously. Thanks so much. Huie Dinwiddie
the biggest I can use in my garage studio is a 59inch umbrella and I just the Godox S2 bracket to get the flash centered. I am going to try my Raleno LED in the 59" to see how the coverage is.
For more coverage out of a smaller umbrella use a flatter style vs the deep style. It will give you the coverage of a larger umbrella minus some of the control
@@kaskoPhoto I have been using the Manfrotto Halo diffuser disc with good results. I only have one deep umbrella, all others are typical umbrellas. I got the halo after watching your video with it...

selens makes a triple hotshoe bracket. i paired it with a godox s bracket to hold a 60 inch umbrella and some generic ebay flashes. don't use it much since i picked an ad200
More centered by a small amount and a little more coverage but less power. That’s the best part about umbrellas- small adjustments for different light.
i had a 6' shoot through but i lit it with a triple threat mount and 3 speedlites. i put the bounce head up one notch and set the head to 20mm zoom. it did really well. i sold the shoot through and and triple threat and got another 6' (for my work, 1' doesnt make enough difference in light compared to the difference in price!). i picked up a super flashpoint xplor 400 for a dirt cheap price and that is my new lighting go to (flashpoint is just the adorama branded godox) for viewers who might not know
On the topic of good value flashes. My Elinchrom BRX500 cost me £150 UK on eBay & my Skyport Plus trigger (with remote power adjustment) cost me £30 UK (you can do simple triggering (no remote control) with even cheaper triggers.) The older analogue Elinchrom Style 600S & 300S strobes I was using until very recently are even cheaper than the remote control BRX & D-Lite models.
I used 6 of the 600s units in one of the arenas I shot at. From the day I installed them until the day I stopped shooting there (12 years later) they were absolutely flawless.
Just got the Impact V2 White Bounce and Diffusion sock. Seems decently well built. My dad gifted me his old Novatron flash kit a while back and it came with a silver umbrella and that rod is BEEFY, but the umbrella is probably half the size of this. I don't get why they don't make thicker poles the norm.
Ce qui peut être bien pour reculer et centrer le flash c'est d'utiliser un pied pour le flash et un pied pour le parapluie (Ca évite ce diffuseur tellement cher).
A friction mount on top of the bracket would have been a better spot, just like the D. Weight of any umbrella makes it bend with gravity. Shame shame Profoto for $300. Well unless the weight of a XL umbrella would flex the magnetic surface so the flash would pop off, lol!
All good my man. Digital allows us to use some amazingly under-powered lights to accomplish big things. Love my Profoto A1X, but would never pay $299 for a bracket. A simple cold shoe umbrella bracket would accomplish the same thing in this scenario. Also, sticking to the camera's base ISO is telling of "our" age. No need to be shooting at ISO 64. Doubtfukl you could tell the difference if you shot at 100-200, making your light source all the more powerful.@@kaskoPhoto
That is not speedlite .... use proper speedlite that has waaay less power then A10 or V1 due to how speedlites work, meaning they have most power fully zoomed in and progressively less when zoomed out, which in your case is what you need. So ... speedlite with rating of GN60 will fill 20x20cm of that 2.2 meters umbrella, when fully zoomed in (200mm), but no where near that in terms of power when zoomed out (24 or 35mm).
@@kaskoPhoto what has happened to me (not on the same umbrella tho) is that the mounting clamp (or bolt) makes a dent in the rod, and that will become the failure point for the rod. So if you make this dent during a close-in umbrella setup, when the rod is short, once you extended it further out it will collapse.

Thank you for watching.
I like the experiment with the speed light! ❤
Love experiments like this, being pretty skint I do have to come up with the cheapest setup from time to time and its a great help , thank you!
Thank you as always for sharing your knowledge, it really is appreciated.
Thank you
I wonder how a godox ad200 with the round head attachment or the bare bulb would look in this experiment
Amazing. Used that combo many times. Love the barebulb in an umbrella.

You’re so welcome. Have an amazing event.
Need to get the filter for my Godox speed light! I got the J80? Not sure I put in the right description!
Have a look at the Phottix Varos Pro BG Umbrella Holder. You can mount the cold shoe horizintalle which gets the head very close to the shaft.
well done as per usual sir.
Thank you kindly

If you pushed the rod (umbrella) a little farther out from the flash would it have been more centered?

65” I believe

Surprising, considering your choice of ISO 64.

No matter what the umbrella will flex on any mount other than the B1 or D type long receiver
Bracket $300, Umbrella $100, correct?
Yes, wasn’t pushing the bracket, just using large umbrellas with Speedlights. Sorry I didn’t make that clear.

It’s actually pretty good. It has a slight bend from the weight but it’s at its normal with that large of an umbrella

A simple godox S bracket that's been out for.. 6,7yrs? the whole point is centering the speedlight for umbrellas.

At ISO64 this window didnt give too much light to begin with, see the test shot
