    Just picked up my 23 klr in September and I’m doing my first service today. Also in Alabama. Nice to see other KLRs here.

      Happy to help! I love doing stuff like this. I have a few more vids coming in the next few weeks that I just need to finish editing and post.

    Says in the manual to grease your o-ring too. ;-) First time I have seen the eagle mikes jack. I will have to look into getting one of those.

      Absolutely! Putting some oil on pretty much everything but the threads of bolts is fine haha. Yeah the eagle mike quick jack is amazing. Best $35 I’ve spent in awhile.

      I made a stick to hook under the axle nut and that tilts it some enough the rear tire is off the ground too.

    Just wondering about the doohickey adjustment. Seen many mechanics state the doohickey adjustment should be done every oil change. Simple process, tons of how to do on RUclips. Cheers.

    Thanks for doing this. I wish I had watched this before I changed my oil. Can you tell me if all KLRs use the same filter?

    The KLR motor needs 2.6 quarts. DON'T refer to the current manual. USe the values from pre 2010 manuals.

    The 2022 owners manual page 116 says 21 ft lbs NOT 15.... on your drain plug!!. Oil fiter cap at 78 inch lbs.!!

      Using the specs from Eagle mike. He states the lower ft lbs. I would imagine maybe his magnetic plug doesn’t need the same torque as the factory plug.

      21 is way too much it will eventually destroy the case. The manual is wrong. Kawasaki has put weird numbers into a lot of manuals.
      You find the proper torque of 23Nm / 15ftlbs in the older manuals.

    Does it drop any filling a new filter? Or does the oil drain out of the filter when the bike isn’t running anyway

    • @rwalls88
      @rwalls88  2 года назад

      There will be some oil still in the oil filter and the filter housing. If you don’t tip the bike with a jack stand it will drain out over everything beneath it.
