    Thank you for such a clear demonstration and explanation of the retouch tool. The Darktable user manual was a bit lacking to me. I'm happy to learn that with CTRL+Shift I can heal subsequent spots all from the same source point.

    Thank you very much Hal. darktable user speaking here. This is the best explanation of the layers in the retouch module that I've seen so far. Very helpful.
    Regards,
    Martin

    Fantastic tutorial. Thank you. I have been exporting from Darktable to .TIF and then editing the image in GIMP with wavelet decompose to work on images that needed retouching. I would then save the GIMP image to .TIF and re-import it into Darktable for any further adjustments before exporting to JPG. This tutorial just educated me enough to try doing that process all in Darktable for a less destructive workflow. THANK YOU!

    This is a commendably clear explanation, for the most part - thank you. I would have liked it even more if you had demonstrated some uses for the wavelet scales feature when retouching. That's the only thing I'm still unclear about. Perhaps that could be the topic of a separate video?

      Glad you liked it. That is a great idea. NOw that I am back, I will do either a seperate video or discuss them in some showcase video.

    I missed that. I've been waiting for it. Thank you and best regards.

    I was waiting for a demonstration of how the wavelet levels would serve the retouching (I know, but I think that demonstration belongs here, as your next module is about perspective correction). Maybe the effect of the long exposure to smooth the water could have been strengthened or finessed in that way?

    Just a newbie to DarkTable, but found an issue where after a certain number of retouches, the app keeps freezing just to retouch a single area and unfreezes after a minute. Is there anyway to prevent this? Any help appreciated

      Hi, yes the retouch module is quite resource hungry. The first thing to check is whether you have GPU acceleration on (opencl). Check this page for details: docs.darktable.org/usermanual/3.8/en/special-topics/opencl/activate-opencl/

    i, i added the Favourite star to dt but not sure as to how to add a few modules to it so that they always stay. if u could show us thanks

    • @RawPhotographyTutorials
      @RawPhotographyTutorials  3 года назад

      Hi Cosmo. I don't think that you can do that anymore. As far as I can tell, the favourite group works only if you had favourited modules in previous versions. To get around that, create a new group in the manage preset screen and add your favourite modules to it.
      Let me know if that helped. If still needed, I'll show it briefly in the next showcase session.

      You do it in the manage presets dialogue box. I will include it in the next video

    A Question. When i send a Foto per WhatsApp, ist is getting awful dark.

    • @RawPhotographyTutorials
      @RawPhotographyTutorials  3 года назад +1

      Hi Werner, WhatsApp compresses the photo. This impacts the quality and can result in a blurry or dark photo. If you need to send a high quality photo then you can attach as a document in whatsapp or use another app.

    Still ANOTHER useless video on Darktable. I LOVE how all these "learn this feature from A to Z" don't even bother with the basics. If you're learning the feature completely, wouldn't that be a good place to start? Guess not. Don't waste your time with this video if you're a beginner; it will do nothing to help you with the basics of Retouching despite what the title says.
