Lyrics:
There is a power,
absolute authority that you possess
For all who receive him,
Those who will just say "yes"
Wake up!
It's time for you to realize just who you are
You're no more a stranger,
you are a shinning star
Stand by the power,
The power of his light
Now is the hour
for you to stand by the power
Greater, stronger that any strength the world can find
Greater than light
shinning from deep inside
Rejoice! Lift your voice for victory already won
Eternal champions,
power to overcome
Stand by the power,
The power of his light
Now is the hour
for you to stand by the power
Stand by the power, power of his light
Now is the hour for you to stand by,
Stand by, stand by the power.
I'm Brazilian, I'm 14 years old and I fell in love with Imperials' songs God bless you
Love these songs, I really feel the Holy Spirit when I sit and listen to these songs, I sing along and feel blessed every day, thank you Jesus!!
Thank you Imperials through all the various stages of your decades long ministry in drawing us closer and closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who deserves all of our love and praise for ever and ever. Amen.
Amen
Love the Imperials !!
I've been listening to the imperials since the 80s when I first heard stand by the power song I felt the power of the Spirit the voices was powerful and the guitar was electrifying the solo is amazing with power they named that song correct because it has power. Thanks imperials for your anointed music ministry you are definitely a part of my journey in Christ.Stand by the power!!! (Tommie j Wimberly Sr. New Orleans.
They came to Puerto Rico in 1985 for a concert. I was in university and a good friend invited me and paid the ticket, $10! Its 2019 and that has been the greatest musical experience since. There were maybe 15,000 or more in Coliseo Roberto Clemente. You cannot find that level of music and Gods purity in today’s lyrics... Stand By the Power was the last song.... of course!!! We all went to the arena to enjoy that moment. Was great...
Paul Smith was an amazing vocalist, you could tell he was ready to take contemporary Christian music to the next level as far as a rock style aka "Journey". Love the Imperials
Oh yeah. When they can include Steve Lukather as a lead guitarist, you know someone is serious about the "next level".
I'm 46 now I've been listening to these guys along with BJ Thomas The archers Mike Adkins DeGarmo & key and Carmen since I was like six or seven. Trying to turn them into my 4 son's favorite music as well. Let the legacy live on praise the Lord!
Great goal there Dad !
My 25 year old son grew up listening to my 80-90s CCM and a lot stuck.
He mixes Petra, Whiteheart in with his newer music but really only sings along with the Christ honoring songs.
God will water His seeds until maturity !
My sister brought home an album of the Imperials (...Now) from Bible college when I was a teenager in the 60's. I was hooked from that point on. I not only began singing their songs in my church, but would sing at least one of their songs after joining a regional Southern Gospel Quartet years later (and sang at least one on our new albums periodically) even though I was pianist only on most of them. The great combination of talent and sound that Armond would place around him to me never wavered down through the years. Thanks to all who have made it possible for everyone to once again experience all the classic moments of the Imperials!
This album is one of my favorite it says in every song things that I think and feel about me. I will never get enough of you Jesus!!!! AMEN AND AMEN LET THE LION OF JUDAH ROARRRRRRRR!!!! GLORY TO THE LION OF JUDAH!!!🦁🦁🦁👑👑👑✝️✝️✝️✝️😇😇😇🙌🏻🙏🏽🙏🏼🙌🏽🙏🏿🙌🏿🙏🏾🙏🏻❤❤❤❤
Absolutely LOVE this group!
The best music on the planet
Can hear Earth, Wind and Fire's influence! Great music!
My first record was Sail On!! In the 80's Stand by the Power! Love the Imperials and Petra!
Classic sound by these guys … enjoy listening to them today as much as I did 35 years ago as a new Christian!
Wonderful album - still sounds as good today as it did in the 80s.
I was in my 2nd year at Bible College- wanted to give up as things got tough- but this album pulled me through! "Part-time Servant" and "Lord of the Harvest" did it for me. Thank you, Imperials. btw, I have been in fulltime ministry for the past 38 years
Praise GOD for His ministry to you through them.
I've likewise been so blessed to drink deeply from Christ our Rock - from His Word & by these Rythmic gems.
The Imperials, in their 1986 Let The Wind Blow tour I took my wife, then girlfriend to enjoy them.
Im here to revisit those precious memories.
That was 35 years ago.
Shes been in Jesus presence now for 6 weeks - we miss her terribly but REJOICE knowing shes 100% healed in Jesus presence.
Every Truth we hear sung here is her Full Time reality.
Through my tears Im finding Strength to carry on from this heavenly supply, to the Praise of His Glory !

I love Paul Smith's songs. My new born beginnings marvelous experienced days.
Praise Jesus for eternity
I've been hearing these guys since 70s. Their music brings the anointing of the Holy Spirit. I'm still listening and Praising God!!! Thank you so much Imperials your the best!! 🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇👍👍👍Hope you guys had a Very Merry Christmas!!!
I love classic gospel music so much.
This was the first song (tape) I played in my new (back then) Alpine car stereo system my friend and I installed in my 1969 Mercury Cougar (I was 16 at the time and I wish I had kept that car). He was such an Imperials fan, that we cranked this song up so loud the bass vibrated the ground next to the car. It also vibrated the glass out of the side mirror. My dad was not happy I took out the stock stereo and installed the Alpine system. It was freaking AWESOME!
One of THE greatest vocal groups ever. And this is one of their most underrated albums in their history. I play this still more than any of their other albums.
Today's CCM is not the same. It lacks conviction and power of the Holy Spirit.
Does anyone know where this album can be found on an audio cd?
Lo tengo en Vinyl 🙂
I agree is underrated. This album is full of “hits”. I think the other album that compares is Heed the Call...
@@cmorales5 Yup. Loved that one. And FREE THE FIRE after that.
Love this track and the Earth Wind and 🔥 vibe. 👍😊
Yes!!! I thought the same thing! 🙌🏾
I am so in love with this album. It blesses me every time.
the imperials, greatest group I've heard, regardless of their configuration, they have remained consistent, biblical and talented, from my home on the island of Tobago in the Caribbean sea, they have helped to stabilize me in my Christian walk, I may never be privileged to hear them live on earth, thank God heaven beckons.
Dayspring/Word NEVER PUT THIS ON CD! It is a crime! It is not on iTunes either. This is one of THE BEST albums The Imperials ever recorded!
Not to defend but explain this: CD Digital Albums weren't widely offered until about mid-1984 - and sadly most record companies were so focused on getting their newer albums on CD that they didn't go back through their catalog & remaster / reissue their older albums on CD.
The occasional exception being if a Compilation or Greatest Hits Album was issued after 1985 normally were on CD.
Ive got a couple late 70s-early 80s DeGarmo & Key albums on CD this way.
There is a music company that specializes in reviving early Classsic CCM albums to Remaster CD Reissues.
I just bought their Reissue of 1984 Daniel Band "Run From the Darkness" (best hard Rock CCM album ever made, hands down, IMHO)
That company is www.boonesoverstock.com
Perhaps they take requests for albums ?
I enjoy this CD. Their Very best!! Fave like, Stand by the Power, Because of who You are, Never Get Enough of your Love, Under His Reign, Lord of the Harvest!!!!!
Soooo anointed and powerful lyrics! The imperials definitely helped me walk with The Most High when I was young
@@dailydedication2663 yes me too. I grew up listening to them from high school to presentand until the Lord's Glorious Return!
Love these guys … their rich sound and lyrics were always top shelf!
I had a love/hate relationship with this album. I couldn’t deny the power of the songs. Great vocals; great new sound; Paul Smith…great energy. BUT RUSS WAS GONE😭
Beside profesional anointed group.sinsce 35 yesrs a go still bless me
Resurrection Power, His Life in me! More than conquerors thru Him who loved us and gave Himself for us!
I sang this song in High School at church camp
Hello, how are you,i hope your good as well?
adios armond gracias por deleitarnos con tu preciosa voz , descansa en el cielo querido.
oh yes, and He knows how much we all need true worship and fellowship, focusing on lifting others up in every way, every day...
Hello, how are you,i hope your good as well?
Powerful songs.
Exelente 👌👌👌👌🙏🇭🇳🇭🇳 súper buena música , mensaje firme
I’ve always loved the imperials some of my favorite gospel has blessed me through out my years
Truth is, God owns all there is but will let you choose what you do with them knowing you will have to account for them when it’s your turn to give account.
this entire album, every single track is a hit. vocals, lyrics, production, all well done. in my opinion, the only knock against paul smith is that he wasn't russ taff who had become the voice of the imperials.
That Paul Smith wasn't Russ Taff wasn't a "knock," so to speak. But you're right, Russ had become so identified with the group. I remember first seeing them in concert with Paul, they were still touring off the Priority album, and Paul had to sing Russ' leads from that album...and it didn't sound good because the two men have such different voices. I actually thought it was all over. Paul was trying to sing "Russ'" songs his own way and it just sounded like he was trying to fill Russ's shoes. But...when Stand By the Power came out, the producer played to Paul's vocal strength and the results are fantastic. Very different voices and vocal styles. But this album was fantastic for Paul's. I can't imagine Russ Taff trying to sing these songs and sounding as good as Paul. Paul has more of a "rock" voice and less "soulful" than Russ. So the rock edginess of this album made for a great fit and a very underrated album. And because Paul's voice blended so well with Jim's, it's sometimes hard to tell who's singing the higher parts! I play this album more than any of the others.
I love their inspiring music, I don't care how old they are, I heard them in my most trying times and this music lifted me up.
This is my all-time favorite Imperials album. Listened to it so much when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing it.
Jason Piker Heed the Call is great as well, but I get why this one is great fir you. Lets call it even.
i dont think people are aware of how many big hitter studio legends played on their albums etc.Its a whos who of pop session royalty. Jeff Porcaro, Nathan East, Steve Lukather, Dann Huff, Lenny Castro. Good lord most of the guys on this album were the session players to the sound track of the 80s and 90s from Barbara Streisand to Michael Jackson. and whats cool is that many of them are believers. so awesome!
I completely agree with all you've said; legends, all, and God is good. I grew up on this stuff! Jeff Porcaro is still my favorite drummer, and he and his drum brother Carlos Vega shared the playing duties on this album. Jeff and Carlos passed away WAY too soon. A gigantic loss.
Amazing....thanks for the info!!!!
thats cool to have them on board on this album. i have listened to most of those studio legends for sure, amazing job on this album Paul smith is amazing lead singer
Absolutely! There is L.A. Royalty all over these albums!!
Very true.
I thought I was out of my mind playing this style of contemporary music until a person gave me their tape. It was a well taken to my soul that I wasn't the only one
I found this record in my garage and I'm glad i did. Great body of music. Amazing album.
This album came out on my first year in full time ministry, same year that I finished my Bible College degree. I had this album and the messages through these songs can never be more meaningful now as it was then.
I loved this album when it came out in 1982 and just realized that track 8 is actually a cover version of the song first released by Kerry Livgren on his his first solo project in 1980 "Seeds Of Change" sung by another member of the group Kansas, Steve Walsh.
I like this! I remember old school CCM gospel music!
As a teenager, I really liked it
Hello, how are you,i hope your good as well?
I think the Imperials were to Christian music what the Temptations were to Motown. Blessedly gifted.
Hello, how are you,i hope your good as well?
Fantastic album
2nd favorite line up. This one is great. Like Russ Taff on lead most.
This is Christiam music woth POWER!
Hello, how are you,i hope your good as well?
So nice to hear from this version of the Imperials again. And the pops and all seem so wonderful to hear after so many years of digital copies.
I also was sad when Russ Taff left, but this was a wonderful album, to be sure.
Ü
Russ Taff was and is an incredible voice. During most of his career he was an alcoholic. He recently came out with his life story, successful rehab, and his continuing ministry. God bless him
Grew up on this right here in Belgium Europe
That intro to 'Under His Reign', you'd swear it was Earth Wind and Fire. Great funky track, but with such poignance. Add in Jeff Porcaro on drums and Steve Lukather on guitar, not to mention Dan Huff, Hadley Hockensmith and a string of others, no wonder it sounds good.
I believe this album came out in 1982; the first with Paul Smith. Great album! :)
Sou muito fã dos Imperials, parabéns pela postagem e que que Deus te abençoe!
I loved this album and the two prior albums, "One more song for You" and "Priority" the most of all the Imperials' albums, but all of their '80s records were fantastic, too, like "This Year's Model."
All Album, is great, the musicians played in the album are the TOTO band. You Know?. this note , appear in the back album image. the influence of keyboards sound equal of TOTO.
Famed Pop Gospel producer Michael Omartian probably has his fingers into that arrangement.
He played with Steely Dan & produced SO many top Pop / Rock / Gospel acts its staggering.
The vocal talents on display here are breathtaking.
Praise to God & the LORD Jesus Christ for such gifts of Life & Song to cheer our way as we toil in the Kingdom, that will stand forever !
- Daniel 7:13-14
Members of Toto, Santana and other bands were playing on this album.
Sounds like it....pros!!!
We boutta go to heaven with this one :D 🔥🔥🔥❤🔥✝✝✝
I believe they the fellas could not have pick a better choice to fill Russ's spot! Paul really fit them well!
A great album, Paul Smith was a wonderful addition..
AWESOME , AMAZING!!!
Awesome
Love these guys, !only wish they would have performed around here, in the Bismarck North Dakota area, .. there album ,Priority,,!! was soul reassuring and uplifting for me!! To this day some 39 years later, from when I first heard it,, when I am struggling with assurance in christ, I just need to put on that album, CD and it lifts me up!!! God bless The imperials and their families! 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶💙✨✨✨✨✨✨✨🎸
All for the asking..sounds like Earth Wind and Fire..but inspired of the Holy Spirit!
Eso si es musica de vedad
40 years on........where's the cd?????????
Oh yes, good times.
Hello, how are you,i hope your good as well?
Thanks so much for sharing this. I'm going to link to it from my Facebook page this Sunday.
This was the first Imperials album with Paul Smith.
And what a debut I really enjoy Pauls vocal performance.
Look up his Solo albums theyre on RUclips also.
I have all the Imperials albums with Paul Smith except one. I also have his solo Live and Learn on cassette. I also have a Classic Imperials CD with him on it.
Is that Bill Gaither on the right??? He is so young there!!!
That's Armond Morales

DISCO IS NOT DEAD!!!!
YOU SAID IT!!!!
Darn if nearly every song from 1977-1985 didnt tip the hat to Disco - even here !
Oh? And does anybody know who played electric guitar on these recordings?? 🎸
Steve Lukather from the band Toto and also Dan Huff on some. Lukather played the title track I believe
@@porcaro4ever really? Steve Lukather? That's interesting !I I wonder if he was a believer? a christian? Recently in an interview, I heard him talking about recovery and I believe ,turning things over to God but he did not mention Jesus. 🤔And I have heard of Dan. 👌👍
@@jayheinz4624 I'm sure by my account name you can tell I'm a huge Toto fan LOL! Actually Jeff Porcaro from Toto played drums on this album along with a lot of other christian artists like Liaison, Bob Carlisle, Steve Camp and most of Russ's Walls Of Glass album to name a few. As for Luke yes he did turn the corner on some pretty hard living from his past. He talks about it in some interviews and also in his book that was released a couple of years ago. He says he is a believer in God and Jesus but everyone walks their own path with faith and though I don't personally know him he seems to have a grasp of what God can do for ones life if they trust in him. Either way you can't deny He, Jeff and all of the countless studio musicians that helped shape contemporary christian music were given gift from the Almighty and he used them for furthering his word even if they didn't pursue it their own careers. But that is just my opinion.
@@porcaro4ever thank you for telling me all that, I find that all very interesting! And I know several of the names that you're talking about. Not personally though.. I can relate somewhat to steve,,, and the imperials, such as Russ Taft, also with the drinking.. I always believed in Jesus as a child but struggled terribly with guilt and in high school had a awesome spiritual experience with Jesus and totally gave my life to him for over 2 years until legalistic lordship salvation teachings crept in and poisoned my soul.. along with guilt and feeling like I let God down and letting people around me down,, and then my cousin, my best friend since I was 3 years old, died in a motorcycle accident, I told the Lord it should have been me, I was I was very conflicted!,, I now know it's called survivor's guilts kind of like veterans get in a war..and also I hadn't told my cousin about jesus yet.. 2 weeks before I graduated high school.. anyway,, spent many years just trying to survive so to speak.. it's a long story of deep struggle, deep theological searching, counseling and all the rest, but now I have 100% security in jesus, thanks to people like Andrew farley.. sorry to ramble,,, do you have your own music account or are you on Instagram, Facebook or anything? B cool to check out some of your stuff if you do.. and have you heard of Richard torrance? 🎶
@@jayheinz4624 Jay, although salvation can assure your place in God's kingdom he still gave us freewill to sometimes learn hard lessons but during all of our spiritual shortcomings we've never been out of his love and protective hand but he will always forgive and let us learn.
singer on Lord of the Harvest is very good as well
A.J. Woodall that was David Wills. the guy to the far left in the red shirt. Hes been their first tenor for years.
The first tenor is actually the superb Jim Murray. David Will, in the other red shirt, sings baritone. A simple mix-up, no big deal.
Who arranged the instrumental tracks for this recording?
Looks like a few different people, but notable for 'All For the Asking' is James Newton Howard who played in Elton John's band and also arranged the Toto IV strings etc. Have a look at his sessions list. Mind blown! www.sessiondays.com/2020/01/james-newton-howard/
Does anyone know why this Album isn’t available on streaming platforms ?
Break them up into separate tracks 😬
Paul Smith should’ve stayed with the Imperials. He left too soon.
Agreed.
But I still enjoyed Paul's later solo albums too.
Great stuff !
This sounds much too much like Disco ...
Paul Smith was better than Russ Taff!!!!!!!!
Paul Morehead Paul Smith was a great Paul Smith. Nobody is Russ Taff, but Russ Taff. Comparisons are pointless.
surely you jest ! Paul was one of the better lead singers of his day, but....better than Russ? Must be that stellar solo career that has you convinced.....right? 😏
Paul Smith is good, but you're out of your mind if you think he was better than Russ. Different, not better.
Not better, just different.
Those are fighting words 😂
Well to be honest with you it sounds like they used the devil's musicians to put out a gospel album. I like the album when I was a teenager, but now I am living for the Lord and I have to say that my spirit does not feel a lot of Peace listening to this album anymore. I like Good gospel music but I gave up the devil's music and chose to follow Jesus. I do not believe you can be in God's will and hold the devil's hand at the same time
Who cares who they got to play the music on this album the secular musicians were probably blessed by doing this!
How do you know what kind of music the devil listens to?
logic45audio it would be good for you to be specific. Who are you talking about?
Troll!
