    These players sound amazing when they work. Skipping issue has been around since the CD5004. I wish Marantz would once and for all fix the mechanism. Ridiculous for such a prestigious company not be able fix such a small issue. Players costing a fraction of the price don't have this problem.

    I think you mean the tray-loading mecanism is centralised in the player to reduce vibration.

    Bought it only for the headphone output, the DAC and idevice connection though USB. The CD player is a bonus ironically

      Hoping this doesn't happen, the sound is incredible, got it from cash convertors with a 12 month warrantee but looks in good nick. Im hoping this is one that could last for decades as I don't want any other set up now I've got this 🤞🏻

    Is this overkill to pair with Klipsch R-51pm? I've also got some Sennheiser HD600s that haven't been getting on with my schiit stack any more, will this drive those for direct CD playback?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  4 года назад

      This is simply a CD player, and will require an amplifier/receiver to power speakers with. As far as the headphones, this should be able to drive them with little issue.

      If your amp/receiver has a USB input to play music from a USB drive, as well as RCA recording outputs, you could add a cassette deck to record to cassette from USB. Or, you could also do that when using the USB input on the Marantz CD6006. Here's a good cassette deck that we offer from Tascam: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc928/p_850202MKV/Tascam-202mkVII.html?tp=78818

    The CD6006 vs Denon DCD-800NE .....long term reliability? Sound signature (darker? brighter?) and lastly....is the only difference between the models just beneath them (the Denon 600 and the Marantz 5005) the lack of a USB port? Thanks.....Crutchfield customer since the 1980's

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  4 года назад

      So the Denon will be bit more digital, and the Marantz, per their reputations, will offer a bit more warmth and dare i say 'depth' to the sound. The Upgrades you get in the Denon line is a coaxial digital output, an upgraded DAC Mater clock, and an expanded high frequency response, as well as the USB functionality. In terms of the Marantz line, you get a ore vibration resistant bottom plate, and USB functionality.

    How similar does the marantz cd5005 compare to this Version??

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  3 года назад +2

      The notable differences in them are:
      a double-layered metal bottom plate for vibration resistance in the CD6006 and not the CD5005
      USB input supports WAV, MP3, AAC, and WMA file playback as well as for connecting a compatible Apple iOS device found in the CD 6006 and not the CD5005
      Pitch control found in the CD5005 and not the CD6006

    Lot of complaints about the marantz cd6006 usb, must have been a bad batch. I have the cd6007 with a free 6 year guarantee no problems so far. It has a better dac & the usb plays hi-res flac files which is my other reason for its purchase as I have about 700 flac albums now & that sound is amazing through my marantz pm6007 amp. Topped of with my Rega Planar 3 (2020) & Bowers & Wilkins 607 s2 amazing

    can I connect this to Samsung Q80 Soundbar?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  4 года назад +1

      Hi Dylan!
      You would be able to connect the Marantz CD6006 to the Samsung HW-Q80R via the Optical Digital Output on the player, to the Optical Input on the sound bar.
      In doing so however, you will be bypassing the DAC in the Marantz, and relying on the sound bar for the digital to analog conversion. To be able to get the benefit of the amazing sound quality the Marantz has to offer, it would be best to use this with a receiver or an amp, with analog connections. This way you can take advantage of the detail and warmth the Marantz CD6006 is able to provide.

      Sure thing, Dylan!
      It would be best if we know what type of speakers you're going to be powering with your new amp, would help to make a more solid recommendation, but the Marantz PM5005 integrated amp is a solid amp, 6 analog inputs for connection of multiple analog devices, including a phono input for a turntable.

    • @crutchfield

      Those receivers will have a digital audio input. The ones that have both types and the cable path does not have any sharp turns, I'd recommend using the optical output. Otherwise, use the coax output

    I got this model few months ago and now its dead. Whenever connected to the power and press Power button I get a red light, no display. As soon as I press Eject or Play the red light goes off and nothing happens; can press Power button again few seconds later to get the red light. I've tried reset (Pause + Disc + Power) and nothing.

      Most likely the lens is dirty or the entire laser has failed. This CD player, along with many others, uses the Sanyo SF-P101N. You can find these lasers for less than 10 bucks on eBay. I picked up a broken CD6006 for about 250 bucks. It also didn't read discs. Cleaned the laser and now it works fine.

      @@soundgesture Heh. No worries. You just have to remove 3 screws from both sides of the machine and remove 2 screws from the back.. Them lift the cover off and in the center of the machine will be the transport. The laser is covered by the top part of the drive mechanism. you'll have to spin the gear to get the laser to the far back of the mechanism. Then you should easily be able to clean it with a q-tip and some Windex. Hopefully it'll work after that. :)
