Totally unrelated, ahem, but I had a dream last night: In it, it was a couple months in the future of 2024 - Ryan Renyolds was wearing a masked costume to hide a disfigurement and applauding at a concert - he then turned to, of all people, Hugh Jackman wearing, of all things, a yellow and blue tuxedo and said something like, "They say her time ran out, but c'mon, what a lady... (Pauses, turns to my dream camera...), just a real dazzler." Smash zoom and another pause where I could've sworn, under the mask, the smile I couls sense occurring didn't reach his eyes - they were like pools of death, but they somehow contained more glee than a musical sitcom... Then, a smash cut to a HUGE stage with Taylor Swift performing - a pan out drone shot to show zillions of Swifties there being, ah, entertained? - drone flies out further, and shows the concert obviously happening in the void at the end of time. The wide drone shot continued for 10-12 seconds of live music, uh, goodness? before, suddenly, Alioth zoomed through, erasing half of "the concert" before a brief reaction shot of Taylor expressing ab-so-lute horror, when the overhead wide shot returned showing Alioth finishing its meal. Then a 2-3 second beat let this apocalypse settle, before revealing everyone but Ryan and Hugh standing at the perfect far remove - the only two remaining - as Ryan's previously enthusiastic applause withers, then stops after one last half hearted, shocked, and limp self hand slap. Blah blah blah Ryan then makes a joke, something like, "maybe you shouldnt have been humming "Building the Barricade / Upon These Stones" before the curtain dropped... And I woke up... Literally the first time in MY LIFE I woke up smiling.
