EXPLOSIVE skirmish erupts between Ukrainian and Russian forces in confrontation near Synkivka

- The Ukrainian army released a video on Thursday (January 4) of intense fighting near Synkivka, in the region of Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Army Ground forces said the video showed Russian military vehicles and tanks advancing towards Synkivka, some being destroyed by Ukrainian missiles. Soldiers are seen climbing out of a smouldering tank in one of the video clips.
Reuters was able to confirm the location by the road layout and terrain features seen in the video, which match satellite imagery of the area. Reuters was not able to independently verify the date when the video was filmed.
One Ukrainian media organisation quoted Ukraine’s ground forces commander Lt. Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi on Dec. 28. saying they had eliminated a Russian tank, three armored personnel carriers, and 30 Russian soldiers in an attack on Synkivka.
Russia holds swathes of territory in eastern and southern Ukraine, and there is no end in sight to the war as next month's second anniversary of Moscow's full-scale invasion approaches.
Russia depicts a Ukrainian counteroffensive launched in mid-2023 as a failure. Front lines have changed little in recent months.

A couple of those were missile strikes, at least that last one had to be, the explosion was too big for a mine. It did have a sort of Keystone Cop look though didn't it? You can just hear the commanders in their bunkers watching this and all you hear is a loud groan.

Putin has to settle for bleeding Ukraine white, and tossing in a few civilian targeting bombing campaigns from time to time. But, who is bleeding who white? And, Novocherkassk proves the russian air defenses simply inadequate. Even if russia were to win and it will not win, what do they get? Cities that are now just fields of rubble? Farms that are poisoned and can't grow anything, fields full of mines and bones? A collapsed economy that guarantees not only the current but future generation lives in poverty. Way to go, with russian leadership the west no longer has to fear the russian mir do we? 1.1 million Soviets died at Stalingrad. One city, one battle, and what was left of it when it was over?

And the Patriot air defense cannot quickly detect and hit the missile 100%, since during a free fall the speed develops at a breakneck speed and the air defense radars cannot quickly target a rapidly falling target.
