Eh, I'm not a fan of either one. I think trying to force Superman and Batman to hate each other and fight never worked. Not even when Frank Miller tried to make it a thing with his stories.
I will say, the way Batman was written to dislike superman in the Peterson version felt off. Like Batman’s grieving sure but his reactions and dialogue towards superman is so harsh that he’s actually pretty unlikable.
@@WarpingFist I will say, I kinda like the final act of the script. Kinda wanna know how it went in the original Andrew Kevin Walker script before revisions.
This is unironically one of my favorite channels. I always knew of Spider-Man 4, but I've found out about so many other movies and cut projects that never saw the light because of WarpingFist. What an awesome channel.
I don’t think a versus story is the way to go. World’s Finest team up is what people really want to see and makes more sense for the characters. Some conflict when they first meet makes some sense, but once they develop respect for each other and become friends, a fight is unnecessary drama.
Personally I can see it both ways, and like both dynamics tbh. World's Finest team up style stories are great and I love seeing Batman and Superman being written as close friends and allies despite their differences, but seeing them as rivals or even as enemies is also really cool and fun if done well. Batman v Superman or even The Dark Knight Returns aren't the original source of this idea of Batman and Superman being written as enemies either, this idea goes all the way back to the Silver Age (and maybe even the Golden Age of comics if you look hard enough tbh). One of my favorite instances of this trope is from an Elseworlds story back in the Silver Age where Bruce Wayne is convinced that Superboy (young Clark Kent) was the one who killed his parents, so he trains for years to become Batman so that he can avenge his parents by killing Superman. That story is also the origin of the Batman slapping Robin meme, btw.
Ngl, I absolutely love the script imo. The way the characters were written just felt more faithful to the comics. (Especially with Lex and Joker.) And even with the script's darker themes, it still doesn't forget it's silly comic book stuff. A good balance and tone for that era in 2004 with Spider-Man 2, The Incredibles and Hellboy. My favorite scene is when Clark returns to Smallville with Lana Lang and sees a tornado in the distance and at first looks like he's gonna ignore it but shows Lana the world really needs him by speeding off to the tornado back as Superman. What's even more interesting was the casting. They wanted Matt Damon for either Batman or Superman. Colin Farrell was aimed for Batman while Jude Law and Christian Bale were aimed for Superman. (Which is a bit weird considering the script portrayed the two as older retired figures.)
18:45 HAVE TO SAY, even when I'm not the biggest fan of this script, the idea of Batman being a widow sounds like a really interesting & unexplored concept, maybe in a futurelike or Elseworlds story could be a new fresh take on Bruce to be explored (Merry Little Batman kinda hints the idea that Bruce is widowed but its never confirmed there)
You are still the best source for Lost movie scenes or other things related channel. By the way dude, any plans to do a video about Godzilla's sequel movie?
@ at least a more faithful version of Superman and what he’s meant to represent. They play around with Batman’s character a bit more and honestly..i’m not a fan
The original script sounds really good, especially in comparison to Snyder's version IMO. However, it does seem extremely derivative of All-Star Superman, Superman Red and Blue, and The Dark Knight Returns which is more of observation than a complaint tbh.
First of all I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL! I watched most of your videos at least twice :) I'm big fan of BvS UE we got. The lost version seems very interesting. Can't say for sure how it could have turned out. With all its flaws 2016 BvS has so many layers that every time i watch sometime i find something new. Its not only about putting Bat vs Sups but about their whole ideology and different view point. It's also about showing Superman as beacon of hope that ultimatly shows Bruce his wrong way and the world that it's indeed also his world.
I've been wanting a video like this for a while cause i heard the old script i while back and wanted to compare them so thank you for that Edit: for a 2000's superhero crossover i would've loved to see this growing up
Everything about this script is superior over what Snyder did, in my opinion. It would've been the best and most beautiful superhero movie ever made; and now i'd like if James Gunn does a World's Finest film inspired by this script.
At least this version the director understood Batman unlike Snyder, I hated his answer for why he thinks it’s ok for Batman to kill, how about this, he shouldn’t kill PERIOD

@@og3dkooz1 I feel like that's not true, you can make the argument that Bales batman killed Ra'as, Talia, and Harvey, but that still puts him under Batfleck by a pretty wide margin. I will say though that my main problem with Batfleck isn't so much that he kills but the way he kills. While other batmen have a kill count, this is normally as a last resort or in accompaniment by circumstances that the individual placed themselves in. Batfleck just rolls up with a shotgun and blows through them no questions asked; he not only has no killing rule, but seemingly no moral compass at all. The counter argument to this always seems to be Micheal Keaton, but in a world like Keaton's Gotham, where Joker can shoot down a fighter jet with a revolver, I have no trouble believing that a thug can survive a blast from a pipe bomb or other things of the like so im inclined to give a little leeway. Plus the character has evolved a lot since then, and our ideas about who Batman is and should be have changed quite a bit in that time.
I hate that in this and the BVS we ended up getting the tone is is just oure dark with Batman being a dick. Batman and Superman are meant to be friends with different tactics of doing good. One uses the shadows, the other comes from the sky. One gives fear, the other gives hope. One is a man, the other is a god. Its these differences that make their dynamic so interesting and compelling because despite it all they're still friends that have a fuck ton of respect for one another. Snyder fucked it up by making Batman a murderer and Superman being all depressed and this would've gotten their dynamic more right but still misses some key ingredients. I hope when Gunn has his Superman meet Batman, whether it'd be a new guy or Pattinson, they shoot for a World's Finest movie that shows off what makes their relationship so compelling and not do another vs movie where they try to murder each other.
Mental note, when Akiva Goldsman is in the room, avoid him. He's had his fill of DC after doing work on the Schumacher films. so many projects he's been sticking his nose in, have been mundane or at least dour...from Hancock to Titans to Star Trek CBS shows from Discovery to Picard (S3 is good).
Idk, it just didn't work in my opinion. Snyder's depiction of Superman is absolutely terrible and is too far removed from what Superman represents and who he is. His version of Batman is also just a cheap knock off of Batman from The Dark Knight Returns as well, which also doesn't help.
