- We left Siargao and travelled to mainland Mindanao. Moving in to a new beautiful Japanese style wooden home in a sweet little town called Carrascal. Here's a full house tour.

Our names are Jmayel, Sacha & Story. We traveled to Siargao island with Jmayel's mum & Story's grandma just before the Global pandemic that sent the whole planet into quarantine. We got stranded for months and fell in love with island life, now we want to make that life more permanent.

The house plan may be Japanese-inspired, but the furniture and the wooden floors reminds me of my grandparents' house. Including the vintage sewing machine, the mosquitero nets, and the rattan backed chairs.
I agree with you. The interior is reminiscent of my grandparents house too, with the sala set (wooden sofa), solihiya, and even the side table in Story's room which is actually an open cabinet to stack pillows in.

I'm so happy that you are having a bit of the normal life back. Especially for little Story, who have gone through with you one of the most intense and challenging moments during the typhoon and it's aftermath. God willing these typhoons would not hit the island ever again.

That's what I really missed about the Philippines, when the sounds of the chicken serves as your alarm clock. 😂😂😂 Although there are some difficulties, (calamities, cost of living is quite higher, block out, etc.) But the people are so friendly and welcoming, and life is so simple. Siargao appears to be a world away from the city's bustle!

I enjoyed watching your journey from Siargao To the town of Carrascal. I am a Filipino but am never been to that place in my life. I was working in Placer Surigao Sur in 2011 to 2012 and went monthly to Surigao City to take our wage. Well thank you so much that I learned so much tourism places from that Region and that place is safe for foreigners. There are some nice tourists places also in my place of the Province of South Cotabato esp. Lake Sebu.

The house’s open concept makes it comfortable to live in, very refreshing. I love watching Story and Poppy play together.
The only disadvantage is that insects like flies and mosquitoes are also free to roam inside and annoy you.
A lot of roosters. Reminded me of when I was growing up in the Philippines (left the Philippines 38 years ago). Haven't been back for 2 years due to the pandemic.

You should have visited Eden Eco Park in Davao City. They have planted their organic veggies and so many fun adventure activities.

I would love to have a house like that! I love the polished wooden floors. That is when a 'bunot' comes handy 😄 old fashioned floor polisher. Never knew there is a place like that in the Philippines! It looks really relaxing. Enjoy your time! X

definitely a Japanese style house although the doors are not sliding but it’s ok. I like that they kept the interior ceiling open , I also like that the kitchen is separate they should make a walkway towards it.
I grew up using one of the black Singer sewing machine.. old wooden chairs. Nice vintage furnishings

How nice and summery! Mosquito net means there are mosquitoes which can carry disease. Beautiful wooden furnishings. Buy some cushions for added comfort. Those roosters could be noisy and relaxing, but at least a relief from Siargao.

Good Morning from NYC! Where is the coffee: instant, regular? Also, you can always take water bucket bath by boiling the water & mixing it! The cockerels crowing reminds me of my parents homeland of Haïti! I love hearing them!

The aesthetic is beautiful. I’m glad I understand it’s not a permanent move. Moving from concrete to wood in the Philippines is a iffy prospect with both subterranean and dry wood termites, not to mention the typhoons. It’s truly lovely for “a stay.” When we lived there, we always wanted a “Bahay Kubo.”

I am happy when you all are happy. You needed this badly. You stuck it out but it took a toll. I do not want you three stressed in any way. You are just such great human beings. Your innocence is refreshing. I forgot to mention, while learning to skate you hold hands, so the fall doesn't hurt so bad. One on feet the other on skates, until advanced. Enjoy. Lol

Enjoy, I know what its like to live without utilities for months after a disaster. At first its a hardship, then you kind of get into the routine of it. Looking back back...all of it made me a stronger person.

Prices at 7-11 stores are rocket high. Better to buy in other grocery stores, or in the market.
