This is the best solution for C10’s with dual tanks I have seen. The 87 fuel selector is the best option for an LS swap and the use of relays with your diagrams is awesome. Great video I’m still working on my 86 but have been sidetracked and the wife wants me to sell it. Lol. When you guys started the truck that is a great feeling I want to see more excitement from Jerry. Maybe even a happy dance! Great job! That is something to be very proud of!

Hey UTX, working on my grandfathers 1985 C10 Silverado that was gifted to me after my college graduation. I am actually, as we speak, trying to get all the wiring bugs worked out and get it 100% working. A tool like that would go a long way for me to tackling the current projects I am working on and maybe one day diving into my hopes of an LS swap with this tool and your shared knowledge. Love your videos and information you give to us all. Keep up with the awesome videos and looking forward to the next one!

@UglyTruckExperience Hey Emily and Jerry. Thank you very much for choosing me! I apologize for the late reply. Hopefully I am still able to claim your generous gift!
I enjoy your approach and the tech tip time you spend explaining the electronics. I am working on a 1973 Buick Apollo early stages of LS Swap. Learning how to use social media platforms to spend time with my granddaughter as I introduce her to automotive interest. The multimeter will come in handy as mine was destroyed in my relocation to AZ. Keep up the good work!

I’m glad to hear that y’all are finally getting some recognition outside of just us fans and friends! Jerry, there’s nothing like that first start-up, and the deep sigh of relief when it settles into an idle. Congrats! Cheers !! Till next time…

Great video as always thank you for taking the time to explain things, A new test meter would help me with my LS swap project for sure my Hobo Freight one is OK but is really cheap....I currently collecting parts to put a 4.8 in my 1994 Chevrolet 2500 with a 5spd and 4x4. I believe it will be much nicer than my 5.7 that was Carb swapped at some point in its life. Thanks

I could always use a 2nd DVOM and I'm in the beginning stages of putting together a twin turbo 5.3 and putting it in an 89 Chrysler Conquest TSI. Likely putting in a whole new body harness with the engine management harness to simplify things. Keep up the great work!
We'll put your name in the hat! It's fairly small, so it would be handy to throw it in the truck with you on the road. Never know when you'll need one! Thanks for tuning in, Tim! Emily and Jerry
you guys are awesome! I am doing my first 1979 square body and using this setup you are showing. 1 Question, I am assuming since the relay will have power with key on it will automatically turn on relay for left pump, so the other wires on left tank on switch will not be used. Is this correct? Thank you much!
Hey Nightshift. The power that goes to the left fuel pump goes from the fuse box, through the original relay to a relay to switch tanks and then to the fuel pump. The relay has a connection at pin 30 and pin 87a on a relay without any power going to the relay. The relay is then given power when the switch is turned into the right hand tank. So correct, the wires that are from the left hand on the actual switch are not used. Hope that makes sense. Jerry
I take it that valve is spring loaded to return to left take in absence of power as opposed to the 86 valve that operates only when the switch is held in place until the valve is fully moved to the required position? Spoke about switch differences but didn't notice if you mentioned how the valve works differently too.
Hello Derek. Yes, the valve in it's normal position with no power would have a port that would send the return fuel back to that left tank. I believe we have talked about it in the last few fuel pump videos when we are running the lines. Thanks. Jerry
Very slow 🐌 finally got home and been trying to get shop organized while catching up on hunny do's since I was away about 6 months. But everyday lil closer lol thanks

Recently did a fuel injected (Pro-flo-4 intake) big block swap in my 86 with dual tanks. I'm also running a Fitech Surge tank. The installer noticed the digital gauges (Intellitronix) are zeroing out now when I attempt to switch tanks. The gauges worked fine with my small block carbureted setup. In your opinion could this be due to needing the 87 selector switch or maybe a power issue?
Hello Aris. It depend on how they wired the system. It would still need the 87 switch and the plastic valve that switched tanks unless they wired and plumbed it different. The surge tank really shouldn't have effected anything to do with the fuel switching or reading unless the wires leading to that switch valve were used in another manner. Jerry
Hello Frank. I use a tool that plugs into the oil sending unit fitting. I used it at the end of one of our videos that I will include a link to. If I didn't have this tool, I would remove the spark plugs, crank the engine for about 5 seconds at a time letting starter cool down for a bit between cranking time until I had oil pressure. Hey Jerry! What scan tool are you using? Will the one that you use do a forced regen on a duramax? Thinking about taking the plunge and buying a professional scan tool.
Hey Rob. I'm not sure if mine will do that or not. We use Alldata for a scan tool. I haven't been thrilled with it. I have been looking at Autel scanners recently and am thinking of giving them a try the next time around. Thanks. Jerry
Jerry I did the fuel system you recommended on dual fuel tank 80 c10 been driving it for about 3000 miles and just ran into a problem were one tank is filling the other I used the Evel energy check valves one failed any recommendations on a better check valve . Thanks
Most of these fuel pumps also have a check valve in them to maintain some fuel pressure in the lines while sitting. I would suspect the valve that changes your return to one tank or the other. Make sure that valve is working properly. Will be curious to see what you find. Jerry
Can you put the intro clip wire connections on the white board. It doesn't seem to work for me, I guess my DNA wiring is for a different year, make and model. Great video.

Then my 98 lumina I gotta find out the resistance on the key diode to get the right resistor to bypass the security system
I have a 79 with dual tanks . My switch is different ( has 5 prongs )and 4 wires coming from the firewall. Not sure how it's getting power ( hard to trace under the dash ). Ive been following along with your dual tank videos ( ran same wires have the same fuel plumbing setup )I have an 87 switch. (I thought about wiring directly to the 87 switch) Just stumped at the moment and looking for wisdom. So if you find time any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hello Iggy. I take that same switch and just use 2 of its terminals to make a on/off switch. It has one power wire leading to it and one lead that runs from the switch to the relay to switch to the tank that will run off of pin 87 on relay. The other pins on that switch end up doing nothing. Hope that makes sense. Thanks. Jerry
Hello again. Yes, you will need to switch to that 87 switch. The earlier ones we're intermittent switches and the 87 works as a on off switch. Thanks. Jerry

Jerry, you often refer to schematics and encourage us to print off our own. Can you suggest which schematics to print off for the LS swap you did on this red truck?
Hello Joey. The donor for this truck was a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali. I use AllData for my wiring diagrams and the only ones I use are, Power and Ground Distribution, Powertrain Management and Transmission circuit to get them running and shifting. Thanks for watching. Let us know what your working on. Jerry
One more question about the schematics if you don’t mind. I am pulling my schematics from ProDemand. I see all the wire numbers and slot locations (c1, f7, etc.) but where does is tell which plug to use. I’m referring to the different color plugs on the back of the fuse box. I think they are identified as plug A, B, C… how do I find that on the schematics? Hope that makes sense.
Hello Joey. That is a great question. I should address that sometime. As an example, you will look at a modern day diagram and see a 2 digit letter number combination that is underlined. That is the connector number. All of the pin numbers to the left of that Connector number are in that connector and they are not underlined. When you run into the next underlined two digit letter number combination, then you are dealing with a different connector. It would be great if they would also mention their connector color, but they use the connector numbers over and over again with different colors so I end up going to the connector that I believe it is and confirming it with the wire colors. They are also not great at mentioning which fuse box you are working with or splice connector locations. I guess we are lucky that we have the info that we do but you really have to double check it. Jerry
Thanks Jerry! Just before I read your comment, I figured it out because I was watching the “horn” video and noticed that you had the “C1” underlined. I think I’ve got it now. Y’all are great!
Hello Brian. A stock 5.3 idles down around 600 rpm, so a stock low stall converter would be fine for you. I hope you are running a stock 5.3. Keep with the stock 5.3 and the stock low stall converter and everything will work fine. Thanks for watching. Jerry and Emily
@@UglyTruckExperience ok thnx just wanted to make sure I didn’t have to buy a higher stall cuz the one that’s on it is brand new, you guys are great n I enjoy watching your channel.
wen you say pin 87 left pump, is the default power wen starting, wen right pump [87A] tank is empty, how do you activate left pump wen key switch is in RUN position, or does ECM sends power in both RUN n START key positions , if so, does that mean you shud always fill left tank n use right tank as primary n use its fuel first since switch kills right pump n 87A gets powered only wen switch relay gets deactivated by right tank switch, fuel circuit falls back into default mode...? right/correct
Hello Jon. That fuel pump relay has a connection from pin 30 to pin 87 when there is no power going to relay. The 12 volt wire that goes to the fuel pump from the fuse box will go to pin 30, then passed through relay to 87 and then to the fuel pump. When fuel tank switch is turned to right hand tank, power is supplied to relay which turns power from pin 30 to 87a that leads to the right hand pump. Pin 30 and 87 are open at that time, shutting down the left pump. On either tank, when one side is being used. The pump in the tank not being used is not running. Jerry
did you wire up CHECK ENGINE light [your version] or use dakota dash one? I presume later, obdII plug? doing dakota dash swap video soon? give difficulty rating n cost of parts guesstamate , you said you programed dash, is that right ,? or ECM to acknowledge dash systems? more i watch , more learn more thot on each vehicle system is ECM controlled...less i want to tackle my project...your a great teacher, with FLAIR for detail ...patiently waiting for you guyses next intellectual LS swap video. Hi Jon! On this truck, the check engine light is in the Dakota Digital dash. We'll have a video on installing that soon. They are a little complicated to install. It's just a matter of opinion. Jerry
Got it, having a senior moment n brain fart at same time...thanx@@UglyTruckExperience
That red head power generator.
It comes in handy sometimes! 👽👽😁
What circuit is that gray wire from?
Is that the wire that comes out of fuel pump relay to feed 12v to the pump?
Yep. That grey wire that comes out of the red connector is the 12 volt power that goes to the fuel pump. Jerry
did you wire up CHECK ENGINE light [your version] or use dakota dash one? Some people prefer the looks of the Dakota Digital, and they are more accurate, but the stock gauges are easier to hook up. We appreciate you watching, and all your comments! Keep the great questions coming. --Jerry and Emily
great I didn't miss that one, looking forward to it..@@UglyTruckExperience

working on a 1994 chevy 1500 I still have to find a wiring diagram
Hello Richard. Take a look at Alldata DIY. It is relatively inexpensive and gives people access to the diagrams we use. Thanks. Jerry and Emily
good morning I'm late today
Good morning, Alonso!
Roflmfao!!!! You guys are great!!!!
Thanks Hugh! How's your swap going?
Would it be blasphemy to swap in a LS into my 1964 Dodge 440?
Yes, but it would be cool! 😆 We keep talking about swapping our 73 Dart. There's a group called LS Swapped Mopars on Facebook that has a lot of good information. Thanks for tuning in, Geebop!
