Snowblower for me dawg. That snowblower did a great job. The blower did a good job not as good as the snowblower but hey you didn't have to shovel and that's what counts in my book. Great video. Can't wait for some snow here in South East Massachusetts. By the way the ending was great, had me rolling.
When I lived in Illinois I only ever bought Ariens snowblowers and I got the commercial version which has a different carburetor that is calibrated for cold weather. My last one that I had before I sold it to move to Texas was an errands 36-in wide by 22-in tall and had over a 450 cc engine. I was able to do the berm the city made by the curb from the plows sidewalk driveway in walkways to the house in about 10 minutes and I beat every single plow truck out there plowing commercial houses. I would run anywhere between 20 and 30 houses on my route and anywhere between 35 and $80 a driveway it would take me about 6 to 8 hours to do it and it was and I was faster than every plow guy out there. My snow blower cost me about $3,000 and I would change the oil every 50 hours so depending on the snow maybe twice a year but I really baby that machine. I had snow chains on the tires and I plowed snow drifts almost 6 ft tall with it. I would point to shoot in one direction and just make loops up and down the driveway and if I wasn't careful it would actually throw snow from my customers driveway to the neighbor's driveway. You got to get yourself a two-stage snowblower and you shouldn't get anything other than ariens. The cheaper homeowner grade snowblowers have a Chinese or Japanese carburetor on them that aren't worth anything you have to spend the money to get the commercial snowblower which has the special carburetor on it and I'm telling you that when I came home to get a couple hours of sleep before I went back out, my snow blower was encased in ice and it took two or three poles and started right up. I never use the electric start it always started with hand pulling. Getting a two-stage snow blower and taking good care of it will last you a long time and it paid for itself at least 30 times over or more
I love my snowblower. I added a modification to the blades and it made it twice as efficient and powerful with the increase in snow blowing distance. We use a wheelchair caddy on the back of each truck to haul it. 2 men per truck along with ice melt , a salt spreader, and backpack blower. .
You should get a try a walker for snow removal and then when your hopper is full you can go around the neighborhood and sell snow cones to all the children lol 😂
I have a 24 inch multi stage snowblower from cub cadet that works amazing, but its heavier and bulkier and because its self propelled it only goes a certain speed and gets caught in the sidewalk seams.... its also kinda meh when its less than an inch snow..... looking at picking up a backpack blower for those light snow days where its more of a dusting and i use a shovel anyways
HERE IS THE KEY TO LEAF BLOWER SUCCESS... Don't wait until the sun comes out, the temperature goes up and the snow begins to melt. As long as the snow is still "fluffy", not slushy, the leaf blower will win every time. That particular snow blower cost $699 plus tax on Amazon. A good quality, high volume leaf blower costs under $100. A snow shovel will cost the average guy moderate to severe back pain.
You gotta get you a 800c Keith. Its been a major game changer being able to start it easily while wearing it. I was fortunate enough to swoop one on CL for 250. God bless you sir.
Excellent video Keith. With wet and heavy snow, I would say use the snow blower. But with light and fluffy snow I kinda disagree with you. The last 2 snow falls I have have have been light and fluffy. I used my Stihl BR 800-c and I have cleared the snow the last 2 days without using my snow snow blower. I wonder if you used a bigger back pack blower if you would have a different result. If you go to Steve's Small Engine Salon, he has a video showing you how to clean a spark arrestor
By far the correct answer. The Sthil 800-c will move mountains, plus it cleans your vehicles. Would love to see someone run a snow blower over their truck. 6" of snow this morning and the Sthil took care of it in 5 minutes including blowing the trucks. If I was to hand shovel or use a snow blower it would be 30 minutes to an hour easy. where I live in Canada it is a no brainer to own a backpack blower.
@@pudlmaker I got my Sthill 800 last fall. I have only used my snow blower once this year. Every other time I used the Stihl 800. It took me a few extra minutes, but I wasn't exhausted and the end of all the accounts. The Stihll 800 is awesome.
Side point. What happened to your ratchet tie down tutorial? Lol you know how many times I’ve cursed when my tie downs came apart!! And I’ve been cleaning glass for 20 years. Now it’s a breeze! Ha ha. “Handle towards me!” I new there was a simple trick! Thanks!
I believe that there is definitely a time and place for each machine. Personally, I like using s snowblower because it makes the completed job look so much nicer.
You guys living in Alaska or what? From Landscaping one moment to full on hell from the north pole lmao you guys should visit some places in the south during the winter
prepare to look like frosty the snowman with the backpack, especially on steps 😂 for me, definitely in snow like that, 3 foot snowcaster wheeled pusher is the fastest by far.
Depends on the power of the blower...this looks like a Stihl BR600 which by today's standards is mid to lower on the performance level. They were the most popular in their time...Echo PB-9010 or Redmax EBZ9000 are putting out more than double the CFM and will lift footprints and ice off sidewalks and driveways... there's still a point where there's a better way ie snowblower...but more power increases the effectiveness of a backpack blower
They both have their place. Paddle Blower for anything more than 1/2inch and if it's wet at all. Backpack blower for powdery dry snow and light dustings. We mainly use the simplicity snow throwers and stihl 600/700 backpack blowers for walkways.
Neither! My plow and my badass ariens snowblower not that cheasy little snowblower haha that thing would not touch the heavy snow we get up here in the Boston area
@@keith-kalfas yehh it is but think of the time it takes to unload a snowblower from the truck versus a backpack we do over 70 driveways 35 roughly per truck 4 guys 2 drivers 2 shovelers shovel guys move everything away from cars/garage doors first while I open up the driveway then I back blade and clean while they do the stairs and walkways if it's light snd fluff definitely the blower butttttttttt we don't use the blower @3am haha

You'll see it in a couple hours
Snow too wet for backpack blower to be effective. On powder cold snow you can clear the width of a sidewalk as fast as you can walk.
I know I know..lol. I found this out in this video. Let's keep it a secret. Haha.
Keith Kalfas plus whenever I use a backpack blower for snow removal I have either a ice scraper to poke at tracks and what not or a small shovel.
we usually run our big ram 3500 on sidewalks wich we use the truck as a sidewalk plow wich 1 swipe done and salt behind it
@@michaelmactavish1728 never had neighbors call cops?
Well I just purchased a echo pb9010t and it’s cfm is at 1,110 and 220mph! I can’t wait to see what it can do in the snow
Neighbors: Mom Keith is acting crazy in the snow again! Lol
4:15 'Call 911 quick, he got a seizure!'
Keith is so down to earth and relatable.
Also, I will buy the snowblower and not the backpack.
Your neighbors are probably like, there's that landscaper again playing in the snow.
Haha. I know right. Who cares what they think.. "I'M FREE !!!!"

I have noticed when we do use an air blower vs snow blower, the friction of the air blower melts a small amount snow and it can quickly refreeze
That snowblower makes it look "crispy".
Crispy dawg. Not all sloppy.
