      @@LoreOfTheRingsYT Most likely. I mean, to explain the backstory of Aragorn and the 'return of the king', Numénor, the Rings of Power/Celebrimbor and the War of the Last Alliance need to be told. The War would be the best way to end 5 seasons
      EDIT: It might actually just focus on a young Aragorn, so, rip?

There are already a few lotr podcasts and quite frankly you're lore videos are far superior to what's out there, which is how I found them and why I listen. After listening to the Silmarillion over and over I've come to a slightly fresh understanding of one feature of Numenor. The Valar struggled with Melkor after they entered Arda and there were unnumbered years of the Valar forming features of Arda and having them destroyed or marred by Melkor. It wasn't until the coming of Tulkas that they were able to chain him that they were able to bring about some version of their intent for the lands. That's a lot of trial and effort and they never fully succeeded. With the creation of Elenna the Valar were free to craft that land free of Melkor. Hypothetically this means that they could take their time and utilize all they learned from their struggles with Melkor to create a particularly blessed land. I had always just read the material as they created a nice place for the Dúnedain as a reward. But I think I may have underestimated just how blessed the gift was and tragic the fall of the Numenorians was.

Having that play In the background would make it perfect. Not sure if that takes a lot of time to implement or not though but it does create an atmosphere. 😁

  • @patrickberes1651

    Awesome video but something of note is that none of the Druedain perished in the destruction of Numenor. During the reign of Tar-Aldarion, the Druedain contacted him and urged him not to continue his travels and exploration, as they somehow knew something bad would come of it. Tar-Aldarion ignored them and continued his exploration, being the first king to set up havens in Middle-earth. The Druedain all left Numenor shortly afterward.
    Not trying to be a smart ass, just thought this was kind of a cool detail that the Druedain knew hundreds of years prior to the fall of Numenor that their exploration and conquest would lead to their downfall. Kind of plays into themes of Tolkien's writings, as the Druedain were very closely intertwined with nature, and they were the wise ones.
    Can't wait for the next video!

  • @otwk

    I enjoyed it very much! The Information was well assembled and well delivered, and the lack of music was actually helping in my opinion.
    Just two little bits, as others pointed out, Earendil was a half-elf, not human, and also Osse was a Maia, not a Vala.
    Other than that, I found no mistakes.
    Lastly, I was pretty surprised there were Druedain on Numenor, I never actually knew that.

    •  5 лет назад

      I am fairly certain that I later corrected myself regarding Earendil. The first time I mention him I call him human but then when dealing with the lineage of Elrond and Elros, I then correctly mention his half and half.

    • @otwk
      @otwk 5 лет назад

      You did say that Elwing was half and half, but you simply said "their father was a human".
      It's not a big deal anyway, but it serves as an explanation why Earendil is immortal, and I'm only looking to give some feedback.

    There were some women actually ruling, at least for some time as heiresses (until a suitable husband has been found) or co-ruled with their coronated husbands.
    Few examples: Polish queen Jadwiga (who has been coronated king for a couple years), Elizabeth 1, Mary Stuart of Scotland.
    Re vid/pod: Very nice (new mic?), no music is fine, I prefer it this way, single image is fine (though some extra visual stimulus is always welcome).
    Lokking forward to the next one.

    I don't know if you still read comments from your older lorecasts... but I thought I would chance it. I did enjoy your presentation, tho I do enjoy them more when you put images on the screen relevant to the subject matter. One thing I have yet to hear anyone mention is that the long life of the men of the west started immediately... as Beor the Old lived to 390 in the service of Finrod (I believe)... and so this was not new to the 2nd age. Also, if I remember right, Elros's oldest child was a girl, and it was her household that Aragorn descends from as it was that proivince that was home to the faithful.... had women been given equality back then... well, who knows?

    Hi Arachîr I know this probably isn’t the best place to post this but I can’t find the steam group but I was playing DAC v3 as Rhûn and Dorwinion we’re defeated by rebels and now my biggest rival at the moment is gone and is just rebels essentially as Erebor have not reached me yet, I know this is just because of the medieval 2 campaign AI essentially not being perfect however it’s still kind of annoying, spending all that time preparing to attack. If its possible, i would suggest to set the rebels to not attack the AI and only the player. Thanks a million and I still absolutely love DAC and keep up the great work. Do you think there are Numenorean colonies in the lands of the sun concurrent to the war of the ring?

  • @jacobsxavier6082
    @jacobsxavier6082 5 лет назад

    As with the ring, the Numenoreans were corrupted by power, not metaphorical power as with the ring but real power. This is interesting as it is pretty similar to the western expansion on the seas, we first traded with the other nations (the mercantile period) before getting to full subjugation (the imperial period). It is fascinating how through fiction can be illustrated the evolution of our societies, and especially the corruption that power exerces on the hearts of men, no matter how high even the Numenoreans are subjects to it.

    So Beleriand sinks beneath the sea.... and 32 years later the swimming survivors somehow make it to the island? I'm thinking Beleriand must have sunk slowly.... Orome must have given them a heads up or something as he was obviously spending time with them for awhile... I'd love to know about these first 100 years of the 2nd age.... how did this migration happen? It is estimated it would have taken 50 years for everyone to make the journey once the island was ready.... Anyone know where these tales are written?

    How come you wont add any music though? I understand the lack of images. I do like both the images and soundtrack but would prefer if you keep the music. I have listened/watched all your lore videos, fan since the start! Love the idea of podcast, and most importantly more of this type of lore content.

    •  5 лет назад

      Chiefly because almost all of my old lore videos that include LOTR music have now been copyright claimed and I don't want to risk a black mark on the channel. I could then add royalty free generic fantasy music but I think it cheapens the episode. Lastly, I am trying to steer completely away from editing these videos as much as I can and to add music every time would require some editing. I also don't think it needs music but I might, maybe, possibly, at a later date, add an intro and outro song. It will depend how these go.
