I got 4 gold rings and a gold coin all in 6 months detecting because i dig everything. Missing certain vdi is silly and it usually shows because those detectorists usually havent found much gold before

Yes, gold is all over the vdi scale. Me personally are not looking for gold but if I find it, that is a bonus. We are more interested in old relics and coins. We hunt permissions so digging ever signal would mean hundreds of Plugs in someone's yard. When we hunt in the woods or fields we dig everything.

Nice find on the gold ring. Just an FYI, the other piece is still there, looks as if the owner lost it in the grass and a mower whacked it, that's why the stone is also missing. Update us if you ever find the other piece. I would say within a 30" radius maybe 40. That token that was in two pieces may have also been a victim of the mower blades. HH

How do you clean all your old coins?

Hi Barb, the silver coins we just wash with soap.and water. Old copper coins like large cents and Indians and come out of the ground looking pretty bad. We usually use the tip of a toothpick to clean them up to get a date off them.

@@PARelicHunters just wondering, I also do a lot of coin detecting and all pennies that are so badass I clean with a little Clr, couple drops a dawn dish soap, and I have a electric (cheapy) roller for turning stones, I also add water, and roll them with fish stones you buy for fish tanks. Also roll silver coins too, but not with copper pennies, about an HR each, then dump in strainer and rinse with cold water, I reuse fish stones after rinsing good, this works great, lots of copper comes out looking great. Hope you'll try and like, if not sure try one of each, separately, fish stones do not scratch the coins, I got this from a person who also coin detects on you tube, it's the best solution ever, because I have tried everything under the sun. Love the tiny lead frog!!! The religious medal is lovely and very large (St. Michael is patron saint of police officers, paramedics and the military, a patron of paratroopers, the patron of mariners, and the sick and the suffering,) The tootsie truck is the largest I've seen; congrats on that one!
