Bert Sommer received the first standing ovation for his rendition of Simon and Garfunkel's "America" at Woodstock. He starred in HAIR. He definitely belongs on the Woodstock monument. His name was inadvertently left off!
Hauntingly BEAUTIFUL voice. Heartbreaking song -and surprisingly dark -but written and sung with much emotion and depth for such a young artist. His voice practically wails. I love it. How Bert Sommer never got the attention he deserved remains one of the world's most puzzling mysteries. He was so talented and cute.
