Hi Jack; just back from Nepal...also went with Adventure Great Himalaya and couldn't be more pleased; had Dinesh as our guide. We were a family of 5 and 2 peeled off at Chomrong after the Poon Hill portion and 3 continued on to ABC. The 2 old men then had Babu at Adventure Great Himalaya concoct a 3 day trip to Chitwan National Park which was awesome! We are indebted to Babu, Dinesh, Gokul, our three porters, Ragu, Hem, and all the Nepalese that made our trip unforgettable. Great people, great vibes, even in a city as crazy as Kathmandu!
To you who thinking about doing it.. I recomend you take your time, it is so beautiful every step along the way.. You can do it in 6 days, 4 up 2 down but thats quite alot of treeking each day .. Slow down, take spend more time everyday at the place you gonna sleep.. Enjoy it and really ENJOY it, you might never do it again... My first ABC was 7 days and i learned from that.. Keep your eyes up and away not only the trail infront of you.. btw great video, it still is my favorite since 2001 ABC is pure magic edit: one last thing, between MBC and ABC you have 360 panoramic view of 6 000m to + 8000m peaks... pure magic
Awesome scenery. I need to get back to Nepal. I did some work in the east of the country a few years back & caught glimpses of the high mountains to the north. I have a loose plan to cycle (with a bit of walking) the Annapurna trail.
Wow the majestic himalayas! We are doing this next yr but concerned abt the steep yphill steps on Day 1. I read somewhere its aroun 3800 or 4800 uphill steps? Are there any cliff drop sites that you have to trek by? Scared of heights 😅🤪😰
The first day has a lot of stairs but it is relatively short and intense (takes about 6-7 hours) whereas on the later days you will be walking for a bit longer with a more gradual slope. There’s no steep drops the trail is very very safe to trek. It is mostly gradual inclines
As far as I know it is compulsory to have a guide but not enforced heavily. I would strongly recommend as having a guide you will always get a spot in tea house accomodation (particularly in busy seasons) and if anything goes wrong they have contacts to help you out
Hello!! What kind of training is needed to do the trekking? And how did you organize with the trekking equipment/heavy clothes? You rented them? I am going at mid October! Very nice video 😊
Hello! We just trained by building up walking tolerance. The main thing is the altitude that is tough so take it slow there. We brought our own hiking shoes and bought puffer jackets and gloves, beanies extra socks etc in Pokhara. We didn’t need trekking poles or any extra equipment :)
I met some people who were doing it solo. They do check your trekking permits at jhinu however so my advice would be to go with a guide. We went with adventure great himalaya. Especially if you go in the peak months where tea house availability might be poor

As far as I know it is compulsory to have a guide but not enforced heavily.

We are going mid October too :-) We are hiring a lot of our equipment from the company who organised our trek.

@@jackkermode How did you find the altitude? We are going on a 6 day trek and we are really worried we will be ascending too quickly.
Is it still possible to hike without a guide?
