It is too bad you don't understand his words, because Stromae is actually telling a story about the struggle he had with depression ... and every single word in his song , and every gesture in his video has a meaning ... He's so talented in bringing his personal feelings into a song and turn into a worldclass act.
@@EmmanuelMIGNOTAs someone who knows French (as a second language) it takes me a while to pick up on what he's saying even after I read the lyrics in both French and English. If they don't even speak the language what do you expect?
Was lucky enough to see this dude live in San Francisco last month. Easily the best concert I’ve ever been to. Dude is actually a God tier performer haha
In the first chorus I just see person who is so depressed and having a panic attack. It brought tears to my eyes. It literally feels like you can’t breathe.
Hé is in charge from a to z, I actually saw a documentary about his first album which he practically produced on a small midi keyboard ableton and some plug-ins. The special thing about him is that he makes all your senses work for it, he definitely is a master of all art forms.
His compatriot, Loic Nottet, is also a Master of art : singer, songwriter, composer, choreographer, dancer, costumes designer, writer, actor.. he created a short musical named Candy for Halloween and he made everything... he is 26 now and his 2 albums Selfocracy and Sillygomania, in english, are amazing. Now, he sings in french and I'm waiting for his 3rd album....
Stromae is Belgian, just like me, I am so proud of him, been a fan for many years, sooooo glad he's finally getting international recognition Thanks you guys for reviewing this awesome track
I suspect time will be very good to him, too. Tends to weed out the trash and only keep the great artists, which he definitely is. Everything about his career inspires respect, even if one doesn't like his music that much. A rare artist, with a vision and a spine. He's going to be shining for a while, I think.

@@estherreid2387 LOL You make me laugh. Like you, I fell down the Stromae rabbit hole (back in January when I saw his performance of L"enfer on the French news). He just killed me with that performance. I still haven't recovered from how raw it was. You know what happened next. Each video was exceptional. I regret that, at the time, I didn't listen to a Belgian coworker who told me about him when he was touring with Racine Carree. The video of that concert is absolutely stunning. I also discovered him because Stephen Colbert, sure I have listened alors en Dans before. But he's so captivating. Have you seen the NPR tiny desk concert? I really enjoyed it
Stromae is a genius. He produces most of his beats. He worked 9 years on this album until was perfect. When you finish with Stromae i would recommend you WOODKID
No he did not work 9 years on this album. Bro came back out of retirement after 7 years, a bad reaction to malaria pills he caught while performing in africa and mental issues.
I don't know if anyone has already said this but he also did an interview on the news that turned into a live performance of this song. After he talked about this subject, the calls for psychological consultations exploded in France and Belgium and the WHO thanked him for addressing the subject of mental disorders
You are great, very empathetic, you have taste. You do not understand what he sings, but you feel it. This work of Stromae (Maestro) is, in my opinion, his masterpiece. He sings against his depressions, against his inner demons that -powerlessly- won't leave him alone. No fiction, but (past) reality. THAT makes it, apart from his upper league as an artist and musician, this incredibly moving masterpiece. You can already tell: I love him :-)
Oh yeah, the live show is next level. I can’t believe he has the entire thing uploaded to his channel for free. Artists never do that, at least not permanently.
Saw his show yesterday 🤯🤯🤯 no words to express how amazing it was, only the feeling of my heart exploding and my feet and hips moving to the groove. This song is about his struggle with negative and distructive thoughts and how to comite suicide might be the only way out. Such deep and personal lyrics yet everyone connects to it. ❤❤❤❤
Our Belgian genius! I'm not taking that bet with you cause his live shows and (live) tv performances are just on another level. Perfectly detailed and just breathtaking.
I keep coming back to this video because seeing your reaction to the first time that chorus drops was my reaction to hearing the first time. I wish I could show you guys the stems for this song. The little production and arrangement things he does in this song (especially in the chorus) are so freaking cool and powerful. He does all these little things that are off putting on a subliminal level that are meant to make you feel uneasy, but not know why, just like how an anxiety attack feels. It’s incredible. Just wanted to share that with you. lol.
Possibly one of the most complete artists; sonically, visually, the depth in his lyrics...simply amazing. I strongly recommend checking out the song "Quand C'est" (a wordplay for "cancer")
He also has the stems for this song available on his website for free, and listening to the isolated vocal gives me chills. You can hear his voice shaking while he’s singing the last line. Sounds like he’s holding back tears.
When I discovered Stromae, I was like ok... there is musicians/singers and then there is Stromae. He's unique, creative, poetic, while all being simple and understandable for everyone. It's just amazing. You should check the clips "tous les même" and "Fils de Joie". And also "Cancer", "Carmen".... well al of them actually, they're all amazing... :D

The main thing which makes me apreciate stromae so much, eventhough i'm absolutely not a fan of the overall genre of music, is that his lyrics are not just words to suit the rhythm of the song. He is actualy talking about something and the music reflects the words perfectly. He is not just a musician, he is a poet, and a good one at that.
Just saw Stromae at the Anthem in DC. Worth the wait! Amazing concert! Wait till you guys watch Formidable, Quand C'est, Carmen, and if you feel bold, watch the ENTIRETY of the Racine Carree concert (free on RUclips). A MASTER PIECE. I so wish I had seen it live. But even as a video, it's easily the best concert I have ever seen. Stromae is on another level. Can't wait to see what he will come up with next (hopefully not in another 7 years :-) ) Thanks for doing these reactions. Really enjoying them.
He writes, sings and makes he's on music. His name Stromae is actually maestro and Mosaert. He also does he's own videos and he Hase a clothing line. That song was about a period that he was depressed. It's been 7 years that he was stopt with making music. But after 7 years he made his come back.
Im so glad you picked up on this one, its possibly my fave of his! The beat is pure UK, and the way he fmatched his syllables, then steps up double on each verse til it seems impossible.. brev.
Me too. I absolutely love that song. That's when I knew I was watching someone really special. No one sings like that, these days (the closest I can remember is Jacques Brel). How he acts the part of the character is just heartbreaking. When I first saw it, I would get a tear in my eye at the end when he is almost sobbing. You just know this character and you feel his pain. Masterful.
I’ve seen him a few times on stage. It’s worth it. This particular album and this song “L’enfer” is so moving, referring to his depression and as you noted in the video to his inner demons.
He plays these instrumentals associated to his songs (orchestrator savante). Although he now has a band, I recommend watching his live concert performances on RUclips!
I saw an interview with Stromae and he was explaining this music video and how it took some serious editing with the way he matches the beat in the vid, hard too explain but the vid matches the beat perfectly. Ps. His English is really good aswell

I find a lot of reactions very performative which distracts from the video but you guys have a super well balanced delivery, right amount of pausing to give your thoughts and insight whilst still being able to enjoy the music. Really like the dynamic between you both. Huge props and looking forward to more.
Also not sure if you have seen some of videos since you guys mentions how you werent sure if he composed some of his songs but he does actually have some videos where he shows how he started to build some of his popular songs up either through a keyboard, string instrument (like ukele i think), or with a mix board I think but its so cool to watch to see how his songs are built and some of them are recorded in like diff locations like he did one on a Gondala in Italy where he started to build up Tous Les Memes, or in a store after hours chilling in the aisles

You have known Michael Jackson in his time and his genius -> Here we are proud of Belgium to present Stromae (Maestro) which we will talk about in the very distant future. Pure genius in its time. With us, he is compared to Jacques Brel.
One of the best french speaking artist at the moment. If you guys loved it you should check other french rappers i.e Orelsan and Damso for example, if you haven't already, you'll be on for a treat.
Stromae and Miguel would have the greatest collaboration ever, the sounds are two totally different cultures but overlap perfectly. Might splice together some songs later if no one does
If you havent seen Deflier as well by Stromae I also reccomend that one. I found stromae like few years ago and he had just released that one song after the long pause before the Multitude album was released. When he began releasing the new videos I was excited since Sante was already a good jam but when this one came out I was floored and damn this made me cry so much. Even though didnt read the lyrics yet the vocals still just speak for itself and very much I feel like captured the essence of like how an internal struggle/screaming could sound in a song.
You have to ear the one “cancer” from stromae!🙏🏻 It’s the beast one! I’s the one that everyone can relate with! Btw I was at he’s concert in North America! It was so perfect!!❤
Amo esta cancion, es muy fuerte, la melodia, el significado de las letras y la imagen, todo representa exactamente lo que es la depresion. ( I love this song, its very strong for me, the melody, the meaning of the lirycs, the images, all represents exactly what depresion is)
We appreciate the comments and background, Also we like Belgium beer for sure, I (Casey) used to live in Brussels like 12 years ago and it's were I started collecting beer glasses ✌️🍻
which is sad, it is that this music speaks about Stromae who lived what he is singing. and it is because of this that he again interrupted these concerts and his career for an indefinite period. The first time it lasted 7 years, and now we don't know😢

he makes all of his beats. then he sends the production to his sound engineer to mix and master.
you should see his shows, they are phonomenal.
You have known Michael Jackson in his time and his genius -> Here we are proud of Belgium to present Stromae (Maestro) which we will talk about in the very distant future.
Pure genius in its time. With us, he is compared to Jacques Brel.
We say Stromae like Maestro - thats the origin of his name , so not stro-may but stro-mai ;) grtz from Belgium!
Yay I love that you guys did another stromae video! I hope you check out Carmen, it’s incredible!
Added to the list!! ✌
Check out a few more of his songs, then look for the Racine Carrée Live Concert, it's worth your time!
Some of the songs of this particular album were recorded with the Belgian National Orchestra.
Yooooo imma say this before it happens but almost at 10k yessir keep up the reactions enjoying them all!!!
Thank you 🙏🍻
great reaction. Hope to see more Stromae.
Definitely🍻✌️
One of the best french speaking artist at the moment.
If you guys loved it you should check other french rappers i.e Orelsan and Damso for example, if you haven't already, you'll be on for a treat.
I dont know if it was mentioned before, but he writes his own stuff and also makes his own beats. He has his own Label
Stromae and Miguel would have the greatest collaboration ever, the sounds are two totally different cultures but overlap perfectly. Might splice together some songs later if no one does
Eh les gars doucement sur le pinard! 😊😂Sinon une très bonne analyse. Merci à vous on adore Stromae.
He has his own orchestra
He is singing about depression and thoughts about suicide saying am i not alone in being alone
HE IS A ONE MAN BAND hes doing all on a laptop and a mini keyboard
( I love this song, its very strong for me, the melody, the meaning of the lirycs, the images, all represents exactly what depresion is)
Glasses of Delirium LOL a good belgium beer for sure, and great looking bottles
We appreciate the comments and background, Also we like Belgium beer for sure, I (Casey) used to live in Brussels like 12 years ago and it's were I started collecting beer glasses ✌️🍻
You guys have to hear avf with maitre gims and orelsan (another genius)
Yeah 🤩
Great reaction guys! 👌👌👌 Would you react to his song CARMEN? It's about social media. 🤭
That sounds very interesting! We will definitely look into that!!
You gotta react to Dimash's S.O.S., the way he drops his register down and then goes extremely high up is unreal. He is a very talented Kazach singer.
which is sad, it is that this music speaks about Stromae who lived what he is singing. and it is because of this that he again interrupted these concerts and his career for an indefinite period. The first time it lasted 7 years, and now we don't know😢
