Just received an email saying Starlink for RV is immediately available. But there is a line in the email that seems contradictory. It first sounds like you have to order from an available area, but then it says even in a waitlist area. Guess I will try it out
Well, just placed my order and it let me ship to my home address. Now the question is, do I have to order he second one when I get my home address available or will I be able to cancel that one and move this service. Hmmmmmmmm Thanks for your videos, you got me this far.
Thanks for this informative video. Just curious: I live in a border-lying region in Southern Africa between Botswana and Zimbabwe. Assuming I have Starlink in Botswana, can I move it across the border from Botswana, say 100km in Zimbabwe, and still have the service? FYI: SpaceX says service will be available in Botswana in 2023 but service date unknown for Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Hi Ndzimu. Last I heard, Portability should allow you to move between countries on a single continent so, theoretically at least, you should be able to move between countries in Africa once the service becomes available there. Personally I can't wait to see the entire African continent lit up with Starlink internet. Best wishes to getting it soon!
Hey 100Million. How are ya! The end of the video explains how to turn it on. My roaming was still working a few days ago, though, so I'm waiting until Elon forces me to turn it on. :-)
@@ScruffyGolden what happened to me is this I was out in the wilderness and I was testing it out and I was only getting between 10 and 30 Megs and then when I turned it on it gave me 100 to 150.
Get T-mobile home internet, even tho you don't have portability they don't block you from using it for some reason, i am using it to travel, so far i've used it for 2 months in Nevada and Texas, you need to configure you starlink with t-mobile home internet using a peplink router and use one of the conections as a backup, if you can get the right config you will have internet with an up time of 99.99% that with a combination of other equipment such as mimo antennas and maybe even Weboost, instead of paying that fee of $25 for portability get the THI for $39, i hear you were paying $150 well my friend that was not a very smart move, those people from nomad are crooks.
Nomad: I think I know the service you are referring to. My cellular was not from there. Very legitimate configuration that has worked wonders for me for months before Starlink started kicking it into gear. I'm in the process of setting up a new configuration in a new trailer that sounds similar to yours. My old setup can be found here: ruclips.net/video/kFlvYbJvPDg/видео.html Am experimenting with a new setup that includes some of that and Starlink. Would love to hear how you'd improve it! Thanks for sharing!
The starlink project is very interesting. I hope it will continue to evolve and create the wounder service we all dream of whole giving Spacex a good founding source for its rocket development programs long into the future.
Not sure if this has been covered in other videos, but I did not have to go to the service location (UPS Store) to get up and running. With the portability clicked on, was able to boot up. The van is currently the mobile office on the beach.
I activated portability for several remote jobs. Now that I’m home I can’t seem to find where to “deactivate” now I’m having to pay $25 for another month.
Hi Lewis. It sounds like you may have turned on "Mobility" or the RV version. To my knowledge, portability can be turned on and off, but the RV version cannot. Is it possible that's what is going on?
What do you think the consequences would be if one ordered Starlink in an area of availability and moved it to an area where the Starlink is unavailable to use permanently.
@@ScruffyGolden just to let you know! Your info worked great we definitely have internet when the map says we shouldn’t. Also the portability feature we had to pay the 25 bucks to get it going
Starlink delivered 5/14/22. Worked at the registration address as expected however at my house on Eastern Shore of MD no connection. I had momentary connection but lost it. No obstructions. Will look into portability. Thx👍👍👍
Scruffy Golden You mentioned getting it at your son's ball game in KY... did you take the dish to game with you? If you go camping, do you have to take the dish with you?
Hi Traci. My son plays baseball in KY where they livestream the games. I have watched those livestreams from places that were impossible before Starlink. One of the best examples was watching my son's baseball game while in Mosca, CO in the middle of nowhere. Check out the following video if you want to see it in action! ruclips.net/video/JxcqNGuPBqU/видео.html
I thought that mobility was one of the selling points for the soon to come $500 a month premium service. It makes me wonder if this $25 option will change when the new 2.0 service plan option goes live.
Ugh. Got you too, huh? Fortunately I was only about 20 minutes from internet data when it happened to me (mine was an address change a couple of months ago, not portability), but it wasn't hard to imagine that happening in some places where I REALLY regretted it. Hope it didn't bend you too much.
@@ScruffyGolden was in a valley at a camp spot only 10mins from the top where there is cell service drive up activated and then it took 45mins or so before the app actually recognised portability was on even after power cycles etc. Very annoying haha.
I got my starlink a month ago/with roaming enabled in AZ, went to CA for 2 weeks it worked fine, left yesterday and just arrived in UT today 5/15/22 when it connected it said out of service address enable portability, so I did that, it's been about 3hrs and it still says offline searching. I have checked connection, rebooted thru app and by in plugging still not working, I guess I'll see soon enough. Ps it still says roaming true

Sorry, I meant that I think the slow downs are coming quickly to move us to portability.

Bartek Jaszczyk, you got that right!
That's 173.44 canadian feels a lot worse up here lol
Are you referring to the $25 US that is 173.44 Canadian? If so, yeah! It DOES sound worse that way. lol

Hi Daniel. Sorry so slow to respond. The consequence is that your service is expected to degrade over time.
Used your info from your previous videos to get the equipment and we should get it today! Super stoked! Thanks for the great videos
I love hearing that. Thank you very much. Enjoy!

4:07 can confirm you DO NEED internet to activate portability. It's stupid that dishy can connect but you cant activate that portability from the app.
