First out of the blocks as usual BelGeode! AFAIK it shouldn't really matter what position the VM (voltmeter) switches are in for startup. The AC Phase switch on the inverter panel is to measure the voltages across the 3-phase inverter to see if they are balanced, and the rotary switch on the generator panel is to check the voltages from the generators to see if they are performing correctly. These voltages would be checked on a full startup procedure (again, AFAIK). Hopefully these will come into play with the Nimbus Huey decrepitude model. Great video though, this will be very useful when I release enough collateral from my various eBay and yard sales to allow me to buy the module :D
Thank you very much for this well explained tutorial. I hope you can make a full and detailed tutorial of this awesome machine. Thanks again for the tips!!!
No, but I can do a full and detailed review where I can discuss some of the things you might want to know about this (features, etc), then demonstrate it. I will work on that this weekend. Thanks!
I hope they offer a carrier with at least one ship board capable aircraft. Also, I like the camera flexiblity in FSX. I have the X camera add-on for X plane. The camera views and playback feature are lacking in DCS World.
Helpful video, just picked up the Huey for free with points on the org store. I’m curious what scenery or island you were flying at in this video. Thanks for the tip to map the startup command.
Thanks BelGeode. It looks pretty good. And, watching your startup reminded me of how much I miss xcamera in the DCS version. Well not now, I'll be able to look at the buttons on the overhead, mwahahahahahah.
No. Oculus Mirror has jitters on the edge of the screen which just looks ridiculous. I need it 1080p, with no edge anomalies. Also Oculus Mirror drops fps more so than recording directly from the sim and cropping it to 1920 x 1080.
Hey, I have a big problem, I just bought the Civilian UH-1D, but while I take off, the helicopter loses its power and cannot take off. As soon as I have the Collective back in its starting position, the helicopter regains its power to take off. Did I forget a step or is that a bug?
I get every comment notification on my cell phone. 😉 Let me know how that works for you. If you get stumped, i have a link to the start up tutorial i did in the video description of this video.
Well something is clearly wrong then. Are you following the procedure? Do you have any maintenance issues? What version (not that it matters since the huey works fine in 11.40).
Yes, tried that initially. I noticed the download from xplan.org would stall at 99% complete and hang up for awhile. I tried a 3rd download which didn't hesitate. This one is running great...awesome helicopter! I wonder why the download stalled, and why it affected the file??
@@belgeode I thought without VR you had a normal xplane menu like the rest of us where you set up everything. I did not know that joystick configure page does not exist in VR sorry.
I use the saitek profiler for most of my keybinds. I cannot see that screen in VR. I can see what it says in my x-plane settings though, which you saw in this video briefly. But I cannot show you the X-52 actual profiler, because that won't show in the video.
Nice job. I'm having some trouble with mine. I installed into X Plane v, 11.30. Many things not working. I read the manual, set frames to 4, and unchecked the "fly with experimental box." The sound and rotor animation is way off, engine gauges aren't working, ect. My battery, generator, and inverter are on. Updating to version 11.36 didn't help. I tried another download and install as well. Is the helicopter meant to fly in 11.40 beta...any suggestions?..thanks!
Reinstall it. Enter your serial number in the registration window. close x-plane then open x-plane and load it up. If you still have issues, contact the developer at their gmail address nimbus . simulations (without spaces). Do not use it in 11.40. But it works in 11.36 as you can see in this video.
Do you see the popup with the doors (should be bottom left in the video)? There's a silhouette of each gun on either side of the picture. Click on them. You can also click on the doors to make them disappear.
oh you are looking for the keybinds menu. It should be there, you can search for it manually by typing it in. I assume you serial number is activated, and you have completely rebooted X-Plane.
It does not. But it does have a checklist popup. Kind of hard to see the buttons for it in the lower left of the video. Alternatively you can use avitab and paste your dcs startup pages in there. The manual for the huey should also have startup pages which can be viewed in avitab like any other pdf. Avitab is free.
If you use VR, use what I use, Avitab. It does the same kind of thing. You can import your DCS pngs into the charts folder, and it will see them, or you can use the actual Huey manual in the aircraft tab of avitab.
Great job Drew. This will be of great help to many who are trying to get it started. Thank you
That is the hope. Thanks!
Good to see you back Bel!
Good to be back. Two videos in one day though. WHEW. So much for a day off.

Lol, thanks for the info. I always wondered why it is always in AC phase.
Btw the module is $37.95 USD. Hopefully it won't take a lot of eBay sales.
If you ever get the opportunity to fly to KEAT try ZL18 ortho it's very scenic. Perfect for a Huey and Ultraweather.
I will keep it in mind, Roger. I still have yet to purchase the Orbx TrueEarth Washington State, which should have it all modeled in there.

yoooo my dude good to see you! was great meeting you in Orlando
Hey. Not sure I remember who this is, but awesome!
Hey welcome back miss your vids.
Thanks. I had not really gone anywhere, but moving to a new house was an important priority before I could get back in the pilot's seat.
@@belgeode Awesome.
Glad to see you're still making awesome videos, bud. Keep em up
Thanks. Yeah i moved houses, so had to set it all up again before i could get back to business.
Great video & like everybody else said very good to see you back at it! :)
Thanks. More to come now that things have settled down.
I hope they offer a carrier with at least one ship board capable aircraft. Also, I like the camera flexiblity in FSX. I have the X camera add-on for X plane. The camera views and playback feature are lacking in DCS World.
I mentioned both things to them. I told them to check out what people are doing, like SimWorks Studio and Chaseplane, X-Camera and so on.
Everything set to 100% working? Man, that is not a Huey anymore!
;=)

It is on Normandy map. I forget the name of the town but on the french coast. About halfway down the coast.
Thanks BelGeode. It looks pretty good. And, watching your startup reminded me of how much I miss xcamera in the DCS version. Well not now, I'll be able to look at the buttons on the overhead, mwahahahahahah.
Oh, nearly forgot: it sounds pretty splendid as well :)
I did not know DCS had an xcamera. However I am in VR anyway, so it's all the same to me now.
@belgeode Miss xcamera (when I'm) in the DCS version :) True though, VR would be great.
Dang... took a while to reply there, huh? 😂🤣
@@belgeode :D Just bought the Civ version and had forgotten how to start it :)
Very useful!! Thanks!!
Thank you for watching!
So, you think MS might dominate the flight sim market with this new product?
ONLY if they make sure it has VR. And at least one of each type of aircraft from the get go.
Danke schön

Your throttle is not set to full flight RPM. Look at your RPM gauge. Should all be in the green arc when ready to lift.

Edit- wait i see which video you are on now.
Do you have something bound to the throttle (not collective, but throttle)?
i have assigned my engine start as you described but it win start no sign of battery drain ad no N1 increase

The Huey by nimbus is the UH-1 Mike model, right ?
I have no idea. I thought it was an H personally. Ask on their youtube page, I am sure they will tell you.

I cannot kill stuff with it. Otherwise, it is about the same.
under keyboard commands -> NIMBUS -> there is no "UH1", only TEST_GROUND?
There should be. Contact the developer.

No substitute if you have flown a real one. I can only wish to be that lucky. But for now, I will accept the ones we have in the sims.

Custom made version of PMDY Midway Island. Not available as a download. I did this myself for the video.

No, i cannot. Some of the items i added belong to other people. I am not allowed to share their creations like that.
Why does this even exist with the presence of the DCS Huey?
Why does anything exist?

Because the alternative to existing is always worse.
