Keeping up with the repairs the weather causes is definitely hard. As an Okie I know that too well, our weather is always completely unpredictable lol. My prayers go out to everyone in the world experiencing the same thing 👍

@@TexasFilipino We are going to spend X-Mas in Frisco with our kids and Grandkids...let us know if you need anything from the LoneStar State for the LoneStar Bar & Grill.
I live in Connecticut and they built huge bolders the size of house as breakers against storms its save New Haven and East Haven where i live because we had storms of the century since 2012 . Yale College and Hospital has so much influence. But its gotta be humungas bolders they're Islands now but man built . My pop had to move the water to build huge bridges and Tunnels under Yale that people just think They're rooms but theyre huge round cement and medal . IDK exactly but pops business had 100s of guys working .
Kristine was no joke, man! I still don't know why it wasn't classified as a full Typhoon, before it crossed Luzon. She was powerful and juicy! Hopefully we'll get a break for a few months, soon? Maybe after this new one that's brewing up? 🙏🌬🌧🇵🇭🌴
James we will be flying in next Saturday and want to take you and Mel out for dinner one night soon. We are looking for a lot to buy around 400+ sm let me know if you know of one thanks

Beautiful bar tops. Incorporating the natural wood really enhances the atmosphere around your place. I know that you are probably done with your wood by now but I think an electric chainsaw would be very helpful in customizing the tops.
Mr. Texas Filipino, My wife and I are watching the beautiful work you are doing with the bar counter tops. We would like to suggest another name. “Driftwood Bar and Grill “ Thank you and best of luck Aaron and Jane
Hello Mr Hightower! Beautiful spot you both have there. Are you building an Air BNB? New subscriber here. I'll go back and watch all your previous vids but just curious right now. Take care 😊
I think Ocean City MD has more experience dealing with beach erosion than most coastal areas. Over 60 years that I recall. There must be some knowledge available from them.
One thing I have learned is DO NOT try to tell them what, how or advice on what to do. The engineers really get an attitude. I can just show their failure not give advice or stick my nose in it.
@ I understand and while I haven’t been to OC in a long time I recall their many attempts and designs of jetty’s to protect their Boardwalk, the lifeblood of OC. Your use of Gabion cages demonstrates how well they work yet one of our mutual YT friends went with concrete and stone which broke in half during its first typhoon. If people were only willing…
@@TexasFilipino very wise James!!! Especially, for example when constructing roads ( fly over in your case( the famous Iloilo fly over disaster( finance wise!). Round here, in Pangasinan, the quality of road making is abysmal!. A friend of mine once once saw them using a 16 (cement) to a sand, stone mix. Quelle surprise, it is all cracked and the surface is destroyed within months( perhaps it is a cunning plan to screw the central government out of even more money for repairs?!). Glad to see you were up to being able to do this upload! Regards to all. Roger
@@marcvivori1561yup those Gabion cages are probably the most economical in the long term for protection. Better than creating an enormous and unsightly "wall", with many metres deep foundations and enormous amounts of thick steel bars and specially formulated concrete.( Place I worked at in the UK had a tidal facility, where they monitored various sample blocks of various mixes ( a lengthy process! Lol). Btw, at Lingayen, on the coast near me, they have created a protective "wall", with a slopping wall, (. 16 feet high, 30 feet wide at the base. Mostly the tide leaves 50 to 150 metres of bare sand, before the " normal " high tide mark. With that typhoon Katrina, giving a 2 metre tidal surge, will be interesting to see how it coped! Naturally properties behind have lost their seaviews!!
1:25......Water, Sand and Cement ratios are not properly balanced. I see it all over the areas. I've picked up hollow blocks that crumble on my hands. 🤫🤔
Wrong the beach use to be far out there until 2012 when Katrina hit. See this is the thing about not using critical thinking and making fast assumptions. Your thought process is that they built out to the beach and thus they are encroaching the salvage zone and are illegal. You never did deductive reasoning that the increased storm activity and power of the storms has taken away the government salvage zone and thus now on private land. Now with me being boots on the ground and a person of reason and deduction I know further facts you don't. The erosion is now back into the clay and topsoil. What does this mean? The salvage zone and beach is made of millions of years of sand. Stones that eroded into sand. This is whats deposited on the shore throughout the centuries during the strongest and weak storms and waves. The clay though is a different story as clay builds where there no disturbance. Clay does not wash in like sand. If it is submitted to crashing waves it just dissolves. So now if it is eroding the clay base and shell base this means those areas have not been disturbed for centuries or a much greater time span. This means something new is taking place. A new cycle going on with the planet. We tend to think of the world in our human years which is a blink. We forget to think in Earth time which is millions or billions of years. If it can even be measured.
So the storm broke all the concrete, or was that over a long time,,tires holding the bamboo together great idea,,I think I will hire Mell as a cup bearer if we ever come down to your place,,😊
I’m not an engineer…far cry. But, I’ve experienced the devastating outcomes of the surf and the scouring effects on solid walls. As often told about chain or rope, it’s only as strong as its weakest link. Interestingly, your gabion retaining wall held up better, presumably for its porousness. Once the waves get behind the wall is when the scouring begins. That’s why you often see the wall leaning seaward. As always I’m interested in your thoughts on this.

Ugly and dangerous to get caught up in if somebody falls in even in mild waves. Series of jetties. Stops the rip , lowers the power and let's the wave slip not rip.
That's going to be a gorgeous bar top and tables! Your resort is looking great.
Thank you. I look forward to doing the epoxy coating.

I wonder if they also use the sand off the beach to build with? That will also weaken the walls.

This damage was before Kristine. My videos are just about to be to Kristine.
@TexasFilipino I assume you received a lot of damage, based on the livestream, and video of the in-laws' places.
No I built it all good. Couple pieces of trim from the installer shotty work but it was all saved also. I screw it back on that day.
@TexasFilipino I saw that on your video. I just didn't know if anything else might have been damaged.

WOOT WOOT Party time! Heck yes we will go out. Look forward to it. Cause James has the Friday Night Blues
Will you be using Rum or Rhum?
It is illegal to build anything within 3 meters from the highest high tide line.
It is the government that built this. The erosion is now into peoples private property and the beach use to be 50 meters further out.
James, I’m curious how many meters long is your beach frontage. You’ve really made good use of it.
Well Jesus Christ its Mother Nature.
Anything built here is going to be a waste of time because of the drive to save money on construction.. it's like throwing money away
the building quality in the Philipines is so sub-standard no wonder the sea can easily breach the sea defences
not good to invest Amigo , heh !

They need concrete tetrapods to disrupt the waves and prevent erosion.
dig deeper and better to make series of jetties . not waves slamming front face.
if they used concrete looking jacks as the wall it disperses the load of waves
Ugly and dangerous to get caught up in if somebody falls in even in mild waves. Series of jetties. Stops the rip , lowers the power and let's the wave slip not rip.
Remember, Mel is short so you will need a platform to stand on so she can reach the other side of the counter....
Not much re-bar.
