Yes, she played with Prince. I have bootleg from a Valentine’s Day concert at the Fillmore in San Francisco with Maceo and Bootsie in the band. She kills it.
I love everything about this song/performance…sax, keyboard, drums, bass, and fantastic vocals! If they ever come up with a musical dictionary, this song should be next to funk. Many thanks for this deliciously funky request, Cynthia, and to Harri for your bad self reaction.
Ooh I like this. Thanks for introducing me to this artist/band Harri, and Happy Holidays to you!🤘 A Prince collab would have been ~amazing~. Good call.
You’re right about Maceo Parker being one of Candy’s heroes, the others being the late David Sanborn and her father, Hans Dulfer, who’s a famous Dutch saxophone player himself.
Cynthia, this was fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Candy Dulfer is an outstanding sax player and an up-and-coming fashion extraordinaire. Cautious restraint, spelling, and perspective are all in play here, so to speak. ⠀ This is an extraordinary submission, and I much appreciate it. Harri, you handled this review and commentary with aplomb. Bravo!!!!👏👏
Not really the same, but try Michael Franks, "Dr. Sax". He kinda doesn't fit in any exact genre, so he may never be suggested to you, but he shouldn't be missed.

Lily Was Here with Dave Stewart and Candy Dulfer is a great song!
Probably my favorite of her works.
She has played with so many bands since the early eighties. Love her, she can break your heart with that sax.

One of my favorite concerts. Check out Clean-Up Lady from this concert, has to be my favorites.

Not Dufler but Dulfer lf
