I’m not a big comment person but I feel I had to- I see a lot of myself in you (I’m now 39) from San Diego, moved to nyc late 20s and lived there for 5-6 years, I want to let you know what you’re going through is VERY normal, but for someone who’s gone through it I’m here to tell you this doesn’t fully go away- it means you’re evolving. Practicing gratitude daily and embracing the time alone - you’ll go back one day and be so thankful for it. Be easy on yourself, it’s ok to just enjoy being in the “moment”. If I can give any young woman advice on floating, do NOT put pressure on yourself, I met my husband in ny and didn’t get married until 37 and I have zero regrets not putting the society pressures or following my friends or ofhers timeline. Please please enjoy it now because it all went by like a snap of a finger. I think it’s AMAZING you moved to Paris - I wanted to move to London for awhile but I’m in DC and that’s ok haha. Please be kind to yourself and take in every experience. If I have one regret- it’s not realizing the time I had just sitting with myself in nyc. ❤❤ you got this x

I feel like so many millennial and now Gen-Z had quarter life crisis because there's so little stability. Everything is so expensive and feels so uncertain, dating is a nightmare, we literally cannot plan for our futures, we are just trying to get to tomorrow. And that's really unhealthy for us.

True. I already have a job and a loving husband (newly married). I would be called stable in the past but now I can't survive without doing a second job. So I'm exhausted. Meanwhile I also need to prepare for a better job and need to have a kid as I'm already 26. But I don’t have time or energy for any of the later two things. So I worry too much about future.

Man I'm 26 and I ain't got shit, military turned me down, all I can get is entry level jobs in either food or retail and while I'm trying school, I feel so out of place with everyone being younger than me and tbh, I have no idea what I even want with school.
What's worse is that I'm at the point now where most people look at me like I'm old and ask "wtf are you doing why don't you have a career a house and a wife or girlfriend?"
Jobs are limited aswell because of my age and lack of experience to.

Hi Elena, it was so nice to meet you in Paris. I just forwarded this video to my daughter, who is your age. This content is relevant to people of any age, really. Life can take on a "been there, done that" quality if you are the kind of person who likes challenge and novelty. And for slightly anxious, driver/striver types, it's also difficult to just live your life without a clear goal in mind. At 62, having been happily married for 32 years, having raised two great kids who are now adults, and being successful in business, I STILL struggle at times with the same feelings you describe. And anyone my age except the most jaded and hardened who are not in touch with their feelings, has these moments. These feelings propel one forward. Being ever so slightly (or maybe a lot) dissatisfied is a huge motivator for change and achievement. Balancing that with enjoying the moment is the art of a life well lived. You are doing a great job of that, even though it's difficult at times. Thank you for boldly sharing your journey with others. Say "Hi" to Paris for me!

I'm in the same boat you're in. You're not alone in feeling these feelings :). I love your authenticity in this, it's super precious to have on RUclips when I feel like inauthenticity has taken over for a while. Something thats helped me move forward is realizing that much of what was holding me back was self denial, not listening to my gut, and trusting other people's words over mine. the second I began to lose the self doubt and trust in myself, I began to move forward again.

But I think I’ve also come to realize there’s beauty in the unknown, I would hate my life to be predictable with the good husband, house and kids, it’s exciting to think about all the possibilities our lives can take!! -coming from someone just coming off her quarter life crisis 😂💗

I felt the same way up until this year... I struggled a LOT with anxiety and depression for most of my life. Not to mention I hadn't found a partner or a community that truly felt like home. I never in a million years would have thought I'd ever say this but what helped me find the deepest peace I have ever known, more energy and overflowing excitement about waking up in the morning... has been faith. Again, NEVErrr did I think I'd become a Bible-thumping Christian, someone who looks forward to praying every day but truly, the sense of certainty, purpose, and the complete obliteration of my depression and anxiety is what has made me lean into this. Also, one out of every 1800 couples who pray together get divorced AND the longest and happiest marriages in pier review studies are often couples who met through shared faith. It took me a long time to come around, but when I saw the people in my life who had the most peace and purpose, they also had the most faith. A default to thanking God instead of overthinking/believing that you as a person need to have all the answers, you don't :) Maybe look in your life for the people who seem the happiest in who they are and how they live and get curious with them about what you can learn from them. I hope this helps

    • @sterlingmarshel6299
      @sterlingmarshel6299 Год назад

you don't need Christian faith to be happy. You can have many nontraditional beliefs and belief in yourself is one. Everyone has some anxiety even with prayer. It's the "answer" for some. But it can't be quantified. The 1/1500 couples staying together is a flawed study by Baylor University. The stat is thrown out as "fact" to support religious beliefs. Among the limitations of this study is that it is not possible to establish whether high-quality relationships promote religiousness, or vice versa, or to rule out the possibility that although
the large minority oversamples are a major strength of this survey, the data are also characterized by rather low response rates.

From one Elena to another, congrats on working to bravely create the life you want! ✨ I had my 1/3rd life crisis in 2019. The launch of my first novel was on the eve of my 30th birthday - I'd had meaningful work & had travelled a fair bit in the years prior, but couldn't help but wish that the novel was a baby. A break-up and re-evaluation of life during the pandemic inspired a cross-country move and quest to have a family. Looking forward to watching your life unfold in Paris as you go after what you want and expand your creative pursuits 🌿🇫🇷

Every age has a crisis of some sort. Every season is about searching. If you're a thoughtful human, this sense of feeling lost will be a constant. I mean this in a good way. After all, there is so much out in this beautiful world. If you're comfortable, you must miss some of it.
Also, I think it's "crap" that you couldn't stay on YT indefinitely. I think about this a lot. The most interesting creatives (think Taylor Swift) stay interesting because they explore each phase of their life. I think I speak for a lot of your audience; I am invested to see what happens next. What is 10 years from now like? Is there a beautiful French boy that will drive you mad? As long as you are evolving, your content is going to mean something to us. :)

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 9 months ago about self development. Now I have 1,549 subs and > 1,000 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

It's amazing how in our 20s and 30s we have this feeling of pretending to be an adult. The thing is when you are in your 50s and 60s, etc... some of those feelings linger but by then you realize you are an adult. You are doing it. May be different than how others do it, but still, it means taking care of yourself and your family. If you have kids, well that is an added level of responsibility. In other words, it's not like one day you wake up and you feel different. There is no firm timeline. You have arrived. No, it's a slow evolutionary process. Gaining wisdom by virtue that you have seen this and done that. The bottom line is don't overthink it. You will get there.

Absolutely loved the way you put this together! Back when I was in high school, I started watching your videos in San Diego dreaming of undergrad in a beach town. Now in my early twenties, I am doing just that! I have loved following the chapters of your life, and it has continuously made me more excited for what's to come in my own life. Thank you for documenting all parts of your life in these early stages of adulthood -- I'm sure it has helped many others going through similar things right behind you just like myself :) so excited to see what this new chapter brings you Elena!

Thanks for your honesty here Elena. I have felt this as an underlying theme in your recent videos, and it does take courage to name it for what it is - and not shame it. You appear to be embracing it - the messiness is also okay, feeling the feelings as they come and know this is a calling to go deeper into yourself, not a thing to fix/change/run from. Your conscientiousness, self reflection and courage have signalled to the universe that you're ready to move beyond, and I hope you can see that as a true priveledge of how you have grown and how far you have come to be here. What you crave is not unrealistic - its true and pure. And I send you so much love as you move toward it wholeheartedly. Enjoy the ride ❤ with love from afar, Samia

Im not a big comment person either but your videos always make me feel like i want to say something about it. Firstly it was beautiful. Secondly, i can so much relate, im 27 from a different country and living different life but also always striving for change and believing beinh out of your comfort zone will always push you to be a better version of yourself. Ive gone far in terms of my teenage dreams as you have and now i feel the life literally is easy, because you feel that you can do anything and you dont doubt yourself, to the extend that it might be boring and less exciting. I agree that life is a journey and there are better and worse moments but you always learn and you should appreciate eac h of them. Finally, there is so much out there that you never gonna get that all so its important to find somewhere where you can settle also for your inner piece. Its not that time for me yet but maybe Paris will be your place for good.

Hi there! First time seeing your videos. How exciting, France! You portray having such a sweet spirit. I'm in my early 40's, and I relate having feeling like you describe in not feeling purpose-filled and anxious about direction and other things. Not be cheesy, but focusing on building a life founded and centered around seeking God in my life which can be done so well now because of Jesus's sacrifice, I have been shepherded into more and better than the low I started in without Him. Finding a bible teaching local church has been the cornerstone of this for us. God bless you Elena.

I have changed so much this last few years. I do believe i am on a spiritual awakening 😊. I’m lost and don’t really have any friends or know what I want to do next. I kinda want to go travelling. But something is holding me back. I want to meet nice people that think free and open minded like we do. I have moved around England a little. Think it’s time to check out a few more countries. Yes. This is indeed a problem. I think I'm still in crisis mode, and have been for many years. I started working at 15 years old. because I had to start helping my family financially. Now, 20 years later, I look at my life now and think about all the experiences I didn't have, the opportunities to study and learn more and maybe be someone with a successful career. This makes me very anxious about the future.

Thank you so much for putting into words this „change of seasons”! In the last year, I've definitely felt... lost: I feel like I'm way back in life, compared to my friends who are getting married or moving in with a partner. I changed cities a year and 3 months ago and this feeling of being lost has blossomed more and more on me. I left my circle of friends and now, being an employed adult, I find it so much harder to make friends: all my friends are from school or university. I have the job that I dreamt of when I was in high school, but I'm no longer happy: I feel like I can do more, but I'm so afraid. I sometimes think of bright things that I can do with my life, but imidiately 3-4 thoughts of how comfortable `now` is, are making me stay. I feel that at my age I should be BOLD and to crazy, brave, impactful things, but I'm stuck. I admire your will of creating opportunities for yourself and taking risks! I really hope the world opens great doors for you!

Elena, if the Paris grey gets you down & you need a dose of the sea, I'd highly recommend coming down to Montpellier as a quick weekend train trip on the TGV. I'm a 38 year-old American with a wandering spririt that manifests geographically and activity-wise. 10 years ago, Paris was my oyster and so stimulating when I lived there. Now, the even calmer, mid-size, French cities in the sunny south with nature nearby to fulfill that for me. Different chapters, diferent needs for flourishing as you've already experienced. :) Courage !

I loved this, and resonated with it far more than I thought I would. But take solace from a great quote from Oscar Wilde, as much as you can, in that those who know where they’re going, and what they want to be, they will inevitably become it. That is their punishment. But if you never know, then you can be anything. You’re doing a great job, Elena. Try not to worry about the expectation of others, be yourself. Enjoy the journey.

i cant believe i watched you already for 6-7 years now. I was a sophomore in high school in southeast asia, Indonesia, now I am a senior in college moved abroad to California. And you are one of my favorite youtubers growing up. Not knowing that, apparently UC San Diego would be the school I ended up going to (did not realize Point loma university was also here untill today). I wondered for 2 whole years, “Why am I here? I don’t belong here” this existencial crisis left me going from a 3.9 gpa to a 0.2 (I mean it). The university wanted me to take a break for a year, and that leads to where I am now. College less, clueless, unemployed & feeling so lost about where in life i currently am. depression hits every day. I have no aspirations no goals nor willpower to execute them. if you have an advice to give me at my lowest point in life elena, what would you do?Thank you🌺
