Theres a Brand New song called Deguasser where he uses it in terms of a person being a deguasser; stealing or erasing your electromagnetic energy. An EKG measures how the electric is working in your body so yes, we are electrical and yes, anything that disrupts electrical fields is a problem.
No, servo control data is destroyed along with the rest of the data on the drive. Things like some magnetic tapes can be reused after degaussing, but definitely not hard drives. Degaussing renders them permanently unusable.
@@andystitt3887 some will be ok to re use but don't count on long term storage, think of them like tapes but they're a disk. Depends on the metal/oxides that are used.
If one wants to reuse or resell an HDD, just wipe it clean by overwriting once. Or twice if paranoyed. Some say that overwriting numerous time using the Gutman method (even up to 35 pass), will make sure that data can't be recovered: it's actually an urban legend, like a Voodoo incantation of 35 Wipes over your HDD to banish evil spirits... The Gutman method comes from a paper he wrote in 1996... To make sure that 30+ year old HDD using MFM methods of encoding technology over their plates were wiped clean. With modern PRML/EPRML drives, a good scrubbing with random data will do about as well as can be expected. This was as true in 1996 as it is now. For an SSD, just delete everything and then use the trim function.
Seems like a commercial more than being informative about anything IT related. He doesnt go into any basics for normal people. "If you're a CIO.." How many CIOs do you think actually watch this channel? This guys a joke.
Preparing for my security+, thanks
howd you go?

Ah, I see I'm not the only one here for this reason : )
We can't see any test whether it really works or not.
I played with one of these in middle school. I had to take 8th grade all over again.
lol
Is this safe on the human body?
I used a deGausser on CRT monitors in a magentic field cage to test and deGausse AG Pitch Moiré and other blemishes for 3 years.
Can the hard drive or other media be reused after degaussing?
No, servo control data is destroyed along with the rest of the data on the drive. Things like some magnetic tapes can be reused after degaussing, but definitely not hard drives. Degaussing renders them permanently unusable.
@@WhitakerBrothers What about floppies?

Can you use the disk after you degause it? Or how about the mag pulse lockers do they destroy the drive or can it be reused?
No. You can't reuse the hard drive. Degaussing will destroy the magnetic charge capability on the hard drive.
Is it safe on the human body and will it disable nanobots?
@TheBlueteetee That's what I'm exactly here for too as I've heard that divice can do but I'm not sure. Did you find more info?
would this work real good on cellphone ssd cards etc i think it should
SSD is not a magnetic storage, therefore it won't work
Thaks!
Sandpaper will also wipe data irretrievably. May thin platter density in the process. lol Keep strong magnets away from phones and sims.
I didn't know cardboard boxes were magnetic. I am going to save all mine now.
LoL
I call bs on this video. Do I need to say why?
Whitaker Bros…best you can do? Zero useful info! (30 yrs in InfoSec and I would not hire this guy!)
