I also like how both of these tracks take completely opposite tones with that same melody. The Awakening sounds triumphant and uplifting. While this sounds spare, desolate and horrifying.
This track. There's something so mystical about it. Usually when you're really into watching something, you don't quite register background noises, but this track never missed my ears. And every time it played I was like "there's that song again'. I love this.
+NakiNaki Serrano I was just trying to show my friend there are those songs on some anime/games/movies/series you will say "wait a minute" even when watching and go search for it after. Decided to roam around FMA OSTs as they are all masterpeices then I saw your comment. Exactly what I was thinking.
This music really creeps me out for no apparent reason... It's trying to act peaceful when it's obviously darkness full of deceit like the little one in the flask!
Ed: acquire God that is impossible Hohenheim: unfortunately it is given a great enough amount of energy Ed: wait what energy the philosopher stone Al: it can't be does this mean that everyone was turned into a philosopher stone May: how many lives were sacrificed for this Mustang: amestris is a large country at least fifty million people
The music captures why Father is scarier than the other homunculi- that he invokes a certain type of horror. Surreal horror in an indescribable way. It's initially surreal when Xerxes is sacrificed and the Dwarf takes on Hohenheim's form, its a fear that's too bizarre and horrifying to comprehend. Then his true form is a purplish-black humanoid with mouths and eyes all over him, its so unnaturally disjointed from the usual, grounded in reality/understandable horrific sights in FMA that its scary in an alien manner. And once again, when he takes the younger form, its surreal again due to he becomes a giant to absorb God and becomes a young Hohenheim. It gives the impression of what is this horror that I'm feeling and I don't understand why I'm scared.
It's not just how unsettlingly creepy the Dwarf in the Flask is when he takes Hohenheim's form, but also how nonchalant he is about having just sacrificed thousands of people. "Do you like your body? It's a gift. From me." That he cannot even grasp how utterly wrong and incomprehensible what he's just done is is terrifying in its own right.
@@51918 Not to mention when he was dragged back into the Gate of Truth by Truth he begged to know what he did wrong to deserve this. He couldn't comprehend that he had done something wrong like a true narcissist
this melody of Gamelan (Indonesian Traditional Instrument) is absolutely beautiful. I cant stop getting goosebumps by it because it is my favorite instrument. So glad I watched this anime
aku sudah nonton fmab selama ribuan kali tapi baru sadar klo bgm-nya menggunakan gamelan.... wkwkwkwk... hanya sedikit yg tau dikomentar😅 dan melihat dr reaksi org barat mendengarkan alunan ini... "merinding"
There is something sad and mournful about this OST. But then I think there is something sad and mournful about father. He never really did get beyond the flask.....despite all the power he obtained.
HOLY SHIT i have watched FMAB over and over but i only realized recently (while re-watching it because it just that epic) and they use gamelan (Indonesian traditional instruments) for this OST. Akira Senju is awesome!
I thought it sounds familiar! So it uses gamelan after all? I'm so happy and proud, I'm Indonesian! (Gamelan comes from specific parts of Indonesia though. Indonesia is a country with very rich culture and many regions have many different cultures. Some regions have completely different musical instruments.) My respect for Akira Senju has been really high to begin with but this makes it hit a whole new level. I'm so touched. *dabs eyes with a handkerchief*
*OMG this is what I noticd too!* I kinda dig up FMA soundtracks again after all these years, when this song is played I remember that the rhythm and tone are kinda similar to what gamelan Jawa (by Jawa, I mean central Jawa) sounds. So happy to see this song has this gamelan vibe. Feels like coming home to my gramps' house in Jogja :)
This song for whatever reason reminds me of that moment when Roy was forced into the portal of truth and lost his eyesight. Then when he is confronted, father says somthing like "Roy, seeing a brighter future for his country has caused him to lose his eyesight."

Back to Scar vs Wrath. Wrath has the upper hand against Scar. "Ishvalan! I guess I was mistaken! I thought the science of alchemy was abhorrent to the eyes of Ishvala, the one you believe to be the creator of all things! Have you abandoned your God?! You would leave him... SO EASILY?! Is your God so readily lost to your people?! *IS HE?!* In the Ishvalan Civil War!.. When you were surrounded by nothing but despair!.." He pins Scar to the ground, ready to deliver the final blow. *"Surely somewhere in the darkest depths of your heart, you began to believe that there was no God on this world AT ALL!"* Suddenly the sun shines, blinding Wrath. Scar takes the chance to counterattack and destroys Wrath's arms and sword. Wrath doesn't give up, he grabs the sword tip with his teeth and stabs Scar one last time before collapsing.
When I listen to this, I gaze at the night sky, and then I know......There is more out there then meets the eye......secrets left buried deep beneath the Earth. Things long forgotten by both the eyes of men and beast.
You aren't wrong about many secrets in our earth. Some say that the world is a lot bigger than what we are shown. Just to tell you what's really under our feet in America especially and the deep gulps of Antarctica
I am currently rewatching FMAB and in addition in a few days a total eclipse is going to happen over North America, and I am going to go and see totality. I feel like I'll be thinking of this song and how it captures what seeing the sun obscured by the moon will feel like. A deep eeriness along with a sense of feeling forces at work that you are utterly insignificant to.
Whenever i listen to this song, its like a jumblenof noises until it comes into harmony for one split second before breaking down again. It reminds me of the flow of the universe. It reminds me of deconstruction and reconstruction: alchemy. It makes my soul fall apart before beig sewed back together... BEAUTIFUL!

this makes me think of a scene where the main bad guy is almost finished with his evil plans and the world's about to be destroyed...and all our heroes can do is stand there and watch as everything and everyone they ever loved dies right in front of them......
"Some of you thought of this planet as a living being ?. But rather "one system" would be more appropriate. A system with a knowledge that any human brain could never processed. A system that processes information from this vast universe" the best line in all anime history
I suppose it's a similar concept to that explored in A Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy (the book not the film) where it imagines the Earth as a giant computer figuring out the meaning of life.
Father: ''You have done well, my faithful sacrifices...'' *Hohenheim gets shocked of Father's new form* Hohenheim: ''You mean you actually did it!?'' Father: ''Yes, I have done what I set out to do: Acquire god...'' Edward: ''Acquire god!? That isn't possible!'' Hohenheim: ''Unfortunately it is, Given a great enough amount of energy...'' Edward: ''Wait, what energy? The Philosopher's stone!?'' Al: ''It can't be. Does this mean everyone was turned into a Philosopher's stone?'' Mei Chan: ''How many lives were sacrificed for this?'' Mustang: ''Amestris is a large country, atleast fifty million people...'' **He who would swallow God** Edward: "Bastard!" *Edward attempts to attack, but Father blocks all alchemy* Edward: "Damn you...!" Father: "Your alchemy will do you no good. Farewell, gentlemen." *Father creates a miniature sun in his hand* Hohenheim: "What are you... What's that?!" Father: "The power of God is now in my control. With that I can do anything. For instance, I can create a sun right in the palm of my hand." *Edward and others look in shock at the miniature sun, while Hohenheim glares with anger in his eyes.* Father: "Shall I turn its flame loose in here? What do you think?" *Suddenly Father feels a strong heartbeat, as if something's wrong*
It is a twisted version of life. There is something there that was once beautiful but notice it becomes more ominous as it goes on. It reveals what it is, a hollow imitation of what we call living.
I'm imagining losing all listening to this music, i feel empty, like if I was dying. I can't listen so much to this song. I've the sensation that i'm about to die.
This track is so haunting. It gives the anxiousness of the unknown but dangerous future lurking just ahead and the uncaring machinations of the figure at the center of it. The sociopathy of an entity willing to throw any and everyone else away to achieve his goals purely for the self satisfaction of removing all limitations upon himself. This song, to me, embodies the ancient desires of a nearly immortal being and the eldritch apathy he has for life in pursuit of his goals. This song is Father.
This really reminds me of Not Safe from the OFF soundtrack, they have similar vibes at times and it both made me feel a sense of dread. Not Safe is way more centered around loneliness and isolation, while this one is just eerie, but I adore the... cowbell? wooden glockenspiel? no idea but it's awesome.
"Who am I? One name you might have for me is the World, or you might call me the Universe, or perhaps God, or perhaps the Truth, I am all and I am one. And So of course this also means that I am you. I am the Truth of your despair, the inescapable price of your boastfulness"
I'm pretty sure that this composer used the song "final hours" from majora's mask as inspiration for this. It's evident in the title of this song (ante meridiem = a.m.). When the clock strikes 12 am on the final day in majora, "final hours" starts to play... and you get the same exact poignant feeling - the feeling that everything is going to end.
@kitsunade i remember, this was played at the beginning of episode 61 where ed, al, roy, hohenheim, izumi, and may wake up from being sacrifices in father's lair and find out that he successfully became god in that new body and sealed everyones alchemy. beautiful tune
Whenever I hear this, I picture myself sitting at the throne like Father did, instead everyone around me and that i once knew have passed. It's more terrifying than it is empowering.
* Roy looses his eyesight * * May wounded and bloody * * father turns the 50 million people of amestris into a philosopher stone * * our heroes in a overall terrible inescapable situation* Me vibing to fathers ost…
I think of an ancient and , not necessarily evil, but difficultly understood power. I think of things like the Ruins of Alph. and sometimes even the dark future in the explorer games: complete desolation...
Yeah, it's oddly reminiscent of the P:MD games. It sort of reminds me of the Bittercold from Gates To Infinity and the end of the post game in Explorers.
This track always reminded me of something else than FMA... and my brain hurts trying to find the memory.. It's like a poigniant moment in a video game.. a movie.. maybe all together.. but I know I've heard these instruments and similar melodies in Avatar the Last Airbender.. Elfenlied.., Blizzard Games, specifically Diablo 2.. maybe even something Star Wars related.. there must also have been a movie.. I think live-action. If you have any idea where I might know this Leitmotif from please let me know.
So many instruments used in this Leitmotif are used all over Secret of Mana but never in the same tempo or verall theme which is probably why its so familiar. From the Secret of Mana OST pieces like "Oracle" or "Ceremony".. I wonder if Akira Senju and Hiroki Kikuta knoew from eachother or their works.
@@ViewTube_Emperor_of_MankindThe only similarities that I know between this OST, Secret of Mana Oracle and Ceremony, are all of them use Balinese Gamelan. Also similar to Tetsuo theme from Akira to create those "chime" sounds.
Creepy music, as though you have entered to a place where something is slowly draining your energy, telling you that you have trapped yourself and there is no escape...
May: Just how many people were sacrificed...? Roy: The population of this country is about 50 million.... Most chilling part for me, especially the look on May's face when he tells her that.
This track saddens me. It makes me think of what Homunculus wanted to do. All he wanted is to "know". To know all. To understand. Yet FMA says that to reach beyond your station makes you evil, that going into gods domain means damnation. Yet isn't it all too human to want to know everything?
It is for many people but it isn’t our place as humans to know everything and for trying we will either go insane or a higher power will stop us like the government once we find their secrets or something
@Spamphie Maybe that's the hidden meaning behind all of the OST's, that's how most of them make me feel. They make me wanna be a better person and live life to it's fullest potential. It's both a good and a bad feeling, I don't know how to explain it.
I love how Ante Meridiem and The Awakening share background melodies.....

this makes me think of a scene where the main bad guy is almost finished with his evil plans and the world's about to be destroyed...and all our heroes can do is stand there and watch as everything and everyone they ever loved dies right in front of them......
that is exactly what happens too :3 isn't it grand
"Some of you thought of this planet as a living being ?. But rather "one system" would be more appropriate. A system with a knowledge that any human brain could never processed. A system that processes information from this vast universe"
the best line in all anime history
And you don't even know it properly
I suppose it's a similar concept to that explored in A Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy (the book not the film) where it imagines the Earth as a giant computer figuring out the meaning of life.
NO you fool's, he's referring to the theory that the earth itself is a living being, with its own truth gate, aka the Gaia sphere.
This and "The Awakening" are my favorite tracks on the entire OST.
Father: ''You have done well, my faithful sacrifices...''
*Hohenheim gets shocked of Father's new form*
Hohenheim: ''You mean you actually did it!?''
Father: ''Yes, I have done what I set out to do: Acquire god...''
Edward: ''Acquire god!? That isn't possible!''
Hohenheim: ''Unfortunately it is, Given a great enough amount of energy...''
Edward: ''Wait, what energy? The Philosopher's stone!?''
Al: ''It can't be. Does this mean everyone was turned into a Philosopher's stone?''
Mei Chan: ''How many lives were sacrificed for this?''
Mustang: ''Amestris is a large country, atleast fifty million people...''
**He who would swallow God**
Edward: "Bastard!"
*Edward attempts to attack, but Father blocks all alchemy*
Edward: "Damn you...!"
Father: "Your alchemy will do you no good. Farewell, gentlemen."
*Father creates a miniature sun in his hand*
Hohenheim: "What are you... What's that?!"
Father: "The power of God is now in my control. With that I can do anything. For instance, I can create a sun right in the palm of my hand."
*Edward and others look in shock at the miniature sun, while Hohenheim glares with anger in his eyes.*
Father: "Shall I turn its flame loose in here? What do you think?"
*Suddenly Father feels a strong heartbeat, as if something's wrong*
That's one of the most chilling moments. Unsettling and very disturbing
This song truly represents morning
Ah, been looking for this one.
Yeah, finally found it!
Im from indonesia, that's true
The instruments of Indonesia, the javanese gamelan
Iya njirr suaranya kek gamelan jawa

It is a twisted version of life. There is something there that was once beautiful but notice it becomes more ominous as it goes on. It reveals what it is, a hollow imitation of what we call living.
This one sounds really cool. Never heard something like this before.
This reminds me of a climax of a movie, where it shows a montage of the heroes fighting and trying desperately to survive.
The "chime" sound reminds me of Gamelan music often played in Yogyakarta Palace. Just try to search Yogyakarta Gamelan.
This song is magical. It has a mystic feel to it.
"I just wanted this world's knowledge for my own.. what's wrong with that!? *WHAT'S WRONG WITH SEEKING PERFECTION!?*"
"Well, speak! what are you anyway? do you even have a name? WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!"
"Who am I? One name you might have for me is the World, or you might call me the Universe, or perhaps God, or perhaps the Truth, I am all and I am one. And So of course this also means that I am you. I am the Truth of your despair, the inescapable price of your boastfulness"
I think I just killed my replay button.
Katrell Morris indeed
Its called loop.
This is so good
Best song.. EVER in the anime history with B13A (Bleach).
I've been looking for this for awhile now...its beautifully dramatic. Thank you so much for uploading.
The mystique and the mysterious vibes of this song, and also those instruments, really reminds me of gamelan ensemble
I'm pretty sure that this composer used the song "final hours" from majora's mask as inspiration for this. It's evident in the title of this song (ante meridiem = a.m.). When the clock strikes 12 am on the final day in majora, "final hours" starts to play... and you get the same exact poignant feeling - the feeling that everything is going to end.
an unspeakable piece of music,
for an unspeakable tragedy.
@kitsunade i remember, this was played at the beginning of episode 61 where ed, al, roy, hohenheim, izumi, and may wake up from being sacrifices in father's lair and find out that he successfully became god in that new body and sealed everyones alchemy. beautiful tune
wow after the effort of going through 40+ soundtracks I've finally found it .___. xD It was worth it!!
After Listening to the music lets us show thanks Akira Senju. The amazing composer for this amazing show.
when you look into the abyss and it stares back at you and allows yourself to be consumed by the beautiful darkness of the void
Reminds me of the Avatar The Last Airbender OST.
11ty6 Which one?
Alchemic Aliens I think its on the spisode where he visits the air temple and finds out hes the last air user...In the first season.
Alchemic Aliens I think its on the spisode where he visits the air temple and finds out hes the last air user...In the first season.
exactly!!
Like the theme at the end of an episode when they ride appa
This music called "GAMELAN" from Java (Indonesia) or you can call it JAWA .
"GAMELAN" is Javanese traditional music from our ancestor .
Whenever I hear this, I picture myself sitting at the throne like Father did, instead everyone around me and that i once knew have passed. It's more terrifying than it is empowering.
A damn great piece. Gives me chills every time I listen to it.
"No need to go crazy on the sound track"
The solar eclipse on August 21st reminds me of this lol
I want to thanks wd0 for uploading these songs! I'm very happy to listen them, now that the serie is finished.
This is the definition of juxtaposition
* Roy looses his eyesight *
* May wounded and bloody *
* father turns the 50 million people of amestris into a philosopher stone *
* our heroes in a overall terrible inescapable situation*
Me vibing to fathers ost…
This song is wonderful in its ability to unsettle a person, love it
Cant believe it's already been over a decade now.. We are getting older
I absolutely loved this one it is completely beautiful tracks in the whole original soundtrack
now I have listened to every single song in all 3 of FMAB ost. time to start again from beginning! :)
Anyone wondering its played when the homunculuses father reveals the true center of the circle and once more after that
This song fits perfectly
"THE CENTER OF THE COUNTRY IS RIGHT HERE!"
"Fullmetal, how can you manage to see anything with how dark it is in here?"
its kind of hypnotic and mysterious
This song gives me the chills.
Such a foreboding track.....
I was thinking more like encountering Zant in the Twilight Realm's castle, but that works too.
I've always thought that music would always have repeats of the same type of music but this clearly tells me i haven't heard everything...
“Then... THE CENTER OF THE WORLD IS RIGHT HERE!”
This song would best fit any scene before a final boss battle
Absolutely
Absolutely wonderful.
“This planet- have you ever considered that it may in fact be one giant consciousness?” or- something like that i was fucking entrances
I love these Gamelan instruments : O
It’s truly beautiful
the build up to the awakening
The rise and the fall.
God this FMAB music is fantastic! 😯
my favorite track from the OST 3. it also played sometimes as the preview for the next episode. =D
this song reminds me that an unstoppable apocalypse is coming, and I have only a few moments to enjoy the last minutes of my life
love this song keep seeing father holding a sun in his hand:)
Hoenhiem: (gasp) So you've done it!
Father: That's right, I did what I set out to do. Acquire God.
(chills)
Creepy music, as though you have entered to a place where something is slowly draining your energy, telling you that you have trapped yourself and there is no escape...
I love this track ..
Cuando el Sacrificio se lleva a cabo, y la Puerta de la Tierra y el Ojo del Cielo se abren...
Father: shall I turn its flame loose in here?
Me: 😳😅😭
May: Just how many people were sacrificed...?
Roy: The population of this country is about 50 million....
Most chilling part for me, especially the look on May's face when he tells her that.
In this tragedy a goal was achieved.
back after 2 years love this track
The greatest equivalent exchange in history of alchemy
tthis song is too awesome.
When Mustang revealed that father stole the lives of 50 million people. It was a chilling moment
That song was great
King Bradley and scar final fight! Idk why I feel like this should have been labeled the fuhrers theme
"Humans who would dare to play God must pay a steep price for their arrogance. That is Truth."
That moment when you are at the woods in Java and hear this melody.
In the tragedy a goal was achieved.
Well said
This track saddens me.
I typed in 'antemeridian' in the search section and this is what came up
"You've done well, my sacrifices"
straight chills
This song makes me want to LIVE, not just merely exist...
@Spamphie Maybe that's the hidden meaning behind all of the OST's, that's how most of them make me feel. They make me wanna be a better person and live life to it's fullest potential. It's both a good and a bad feeling, I don't know how to explain it.
Humans who dare play God should pay a steep price for their arrogance that is th he way of the universe that is truth
