The fact that Sweden is the richest Nordic country in terms of resources and industry with loads of exports and yet they have a severe lack of ammunition which no other country has is one of the most logical things in HOI4 all things considered.
I died in my 1st game because o forgot to hard the Norwegian ports and then Germany got past the islands because of one ensercalmef
To be fair to paradox. The social democrats really bought in to the whole “war to end all wars” and the League of Nations existed (lol) so why spend anything on the military?
Kinda caught with their pants down in 1939. What followed was a massive militarisation and about 550 thousand trained and ready in 1943 and why schmitler decided to not invade in 43 which was planned.
The idea was to save Denmark and Norway (literally called that) in June 45 to stop any soviet expansion but well…
It ended before that

Its so cursed, when i saw Sweden's focus tree size, i was on my knees
I wish Indonesia,Malaysia,Philippines have unique focus too like Machukuo and Vichy France have. They also participated great in WW2 plus getting Maphilindo Federation as formable nation or ASEAN would be hilarious. Alt history such as the core members of ASEAN going communist or fascist would also be good considering most of the member countries are either exploited by European nations or sick of westerners colonization

@@Nurullah1445 TNO and TWR did justice to many countries however something's off about the alt history or alohistorical focuses. Philippines may be a communist country if the revolution against Spanish Empire succeeded without America intervention or may be fascist if the guns purchased to fight spaniards was delivered on time and not sinked by America due to justification of war against Spanish (it's historically accurate given the Spanish-American war leading to Treaty of Versailles)
NO WAY, Paradox figured out how to make focuses that only take less than 35 days! (apart from the like two Germany ones)

Mods have known how to make focuses like that for years. Paradox knows how to as well. They just want the game to take a long time to keep some semblence of history.
and so it doesnt get boring easily, trust me, i know from RoN’s unrealistically quick time that everyone gets bored of.
70 Day focus trees are basically the reason i do not play Vanilla. Those focus trees only give bonuses. Mod focus trees tell a story or something about a movement.

I would love to see that play a role. Neushwabenland allowed Germany to extend the reach of its U-boat fleet even further, and some of the biggest expeditions to the continent of the time were conducted to gain control of more resources for the war effort.
While they're at it, maybe they can pop South America's cherry by giving Argentina a thick focus tree, similar in theme to Switzerland but with more focus on creating a beefy spy agency, possibly with sick bonuses for every member of its faction if/when it breaks neutrality. Argentina was a huge espionage hotspot during the war for both the Axis and the Allies. As a sovereign nation with an official policy of neutrality, it afforded all parties involved the opportunity to seed their embassies and consulates with intelligence operatives, effectively becoming the training grounds for Cold War espionage doctrines. It was also one of the few places in the world where nations on either side of the conflict could maintain communications without going through official channels, which were all but shut down in the name of national security.

A new landmass in the south would be epic, along with it paradox could extend the top of the map to the tippity top of russia canada and that norwegian island. Though everything would look incredibly weird since it's a 2d map, and the upper tiles would need to be quite big for realisms' sake, 2d map mercator projection and all
Actually, the swedish communist path allows you to ally yourself with any of the three large european factions.
The guy you start out with, Nils Flyg, was a communist who actually hated Stalin so fucking much that he'd rather work with literal Nazis. With him, you can join the Axis.
You later have the option of replacing him with Karl Kilbom, a communist who was aligned with the right opposition and Bukharin. He aligns Sweden with the Allies.
I also noticed when I played Sweden yesterday, there's a third option which aligns you with Stalin. I can't remember the guys name tho.

@@512TheWolf512 I found the new update kinda cool for Norway, Denmark and Finland but to me it completly fcked Sweden and nerfed it into the ground. It just takes so long to get anything done as sweden that i just turn back to other countries

I suggest avoiding it when playing co-op mp... i was Finland and Sweden puppeted me and took literally everything i had... most of my civs, all of my mils and most importantly... Mannerheim... Mannerheim gone = enthusiasm gone

One thing I leanrd with savescum for event in HOI4 is that the number generated is based of the ingame date (it changes for each game of course), so often, reseting the focus and delaying it for a few days helps a lot (i remember trying that sucessfully with the puppet japan focus)
To keep the NAP going, you can always do the Intel-Mission "place false informaton" or whatever its called. that way you spawn a 24-division fake-army (divisions immediately get deleted when they are being attacked.
One thing I've noticed is that Paradox seems to have changed The Old Enemy Stirs focus to be 10% WS OR 10% WT rather than AND in the release version of AAT. Which should allow it to be unlocked much faster by rushing Sieze Landsverk and taking the leader that gives WS.
Is there a way to remove neutral foreign policy without taking the old enemy stirs? I want to join a faction with friends playing Norway and Finland.
Just did some swedish achievements yesterday and the first thing that came to my mind with the international market was "I should sell all my airplanes, I won't use that outdated stuff anyways...". Selling all your junk early on will definitely be a meta strategy here. Germany can get an insane boost by this btw.
Fun fact from a swede here! Saab still techically exist, they are hired by the state to make military planes and equiment. But not only that, the truck Scania, is actually saab which makes them to. So you can still see alot of saabs rolling around but only like trucks though!
Bittersteel a good tank is just 3 man turret, medium canon 2 (close support if you don’t have it yet), two cannons, radios and whatever you want for the last slot but i usually do light machine guns and the bottom stuff you leave the same (christe suspension if you want) and add engines till the speed is 8+ depends on your preference tho

I think the generic focus tree was stronger because it boosts everything, by 1939 you already formed the nordic empire but the new options seen fun to play

These thumbnails are literally the best out of any hoi4 yter.
When I did my Sweden run, the only game I've managed to "win," I turned it fascist as the Svea Rike. Naval invaded Latvia and Estonia, and set up a ton of border forts to prepare for the Soviet invasion. With the navy, I actually did very well with them. I used my crappy tier 1 subs for a long time, all the while researching up to the tier 4. My Swedish navy managed to beat the daylights out of the Soviets AND the British. It was so completely broken... and I LOVED IT! I used the army to conquer Norway and Finland. Germany invited me to their faction, and I had already been at war with the Soviets for at least two years. In those two years, I killed close to a million of them and had less than 10,000 Swedes KIA. I only had two fully-equipped armies at any given time, so I used them to do small encirclements in the Soviet north and center. I had so much war participation, and it was just hilarious. Best HOI4 run ever.

Did they make some changes to Sweden since this video? I built my construction and focuses exactly like you did and somehow have 13 less total factories when paused at July 14th and I never catch up. Im not building spy building or anything else that slows me down. Do you think your getting them from trade, because that's the only thing I can think of?
This focus tree taught me that skf is a swedish brand. Weird to see something i work with in a game kind of surreal.

Dunno if your gonna see this but I have been testing out sweden and while im not good at micromanaging my mils I found a pretty reliable way to get your neighbors to do whatever you want. Just park your army on their borders whenever your doing the focuses to make demands of them and they for some reason do it pretty much every time. I highly recommend rushing the war support for the focus that requires either 10% world tension or 10% war support. You can get it much faster with going for the war support you just have to play a balancing act with stability. once I get the king I rush to get denmark and norway as puppets and then I do the anti soviet pact focus and then do the coring focus after saving up pp for pretty much the entire game. Yes its going to suck and yes your going to need to do improved worker conditions to just barely have the 65% stability hammer not land on you. My advisor I highly recommend using is the one that gives extra stability and an operative because that can stack with the illusive gentleman along with the extra stability.
Also as an addition for any who bother to look the germans will keep their non aggression pact with you as long as you have an army on the border with them so once you have nabbed the land you need just park an army on the border and you will be safe for basically forever

Do keep in mind that Folkhemmet changes as you do military foci, basically inverting its bonuses from stab and civ/infra and minus war support and factory build speed, later it will give minus stability and minus civ/infra speed whilst giving war support and mil/dockyard build speed instead.
It's annoying that I can't keep it in some sort of balance, I simply have to cope with it being entirely flipped
The button also gives you a lot of compliance.

18:30 I wouldn't build that particular tank design because of the reliability. At 80%, it means anytime you move those tanks, just going from one home province to another, there is massive attrition. And yes, you suffer attrition just by moving units.
Having tanks that breakdown in peace time in home territories is a very expensive proposition. But you do you, while my tanks go brrr... :D

I might try Sweden next. Norway is just pure pain. I thought I'd set up just right to repulse the Germans - and got naval invaded five times in quick succession (by Germany, Italy and Slovakia) all across my coastline and just couldn't react in time despite achieving a more then 10:1 ratio on the invaders because I just lacked the manpower to guard everything and my navy outright refused to intercept incoming ships. Oh, and the Allies landed one division in Norway - when I wasn't being invaded - and then promptly removed it (right before I got invaded again).

Hey, did you know that in the 1.13.5 patch paradox added a new decision where you can core the baltics, as well as mecklenburg and hannover after proclaiming the swedish empire? The only thing is that you need to control Ghana, new jersey and the french caribe besides the other stuff. Btw can you make a video doing that please?

I am a big fan of Canada. But with the new way of calculating consumer goods, 2 of their focusses are basically useless (War Bonds and If Day). Hope you can bring that up once.
Ah that Iceland thing. Just did a recent Brazil game where I was similarly hosed by Italy. Had several puppets. Italy did that whole "Defender of Catholicism" sort of focus that lets them puppet South Americans. They just yoinked all my puppets away with no check.
I keep hoping that Paradox at some point kind of provides some sort of check for those things so you don't lose all your subjects without a say.
I did that finland focus only once and they caved with 14 divisions, no improved relations. But IG that was bc i played ahistorical

Sweden can destroy the resources. You have to click a decision to repair the mines, costs 15 ivs and takes 120 days
