🏰 Our first port of call is Bruges, the prosperous city of the Burgundian empire, where Philippe le Bon married Isabelle de Portugal in 1430, and where one of the great representatives of the Burgundian musical school, Gilles Binchois, was at the court's musical service. This author's “Bien puist” is a wordless rondeau performed here with a typical “hauts instruments” formation, which we know was much appreciated at the court of the “Grand duc d'Occident”!
