@Zurround100 Norway was never the world's 'happiest' country, that was Bhutan a country near India. But if you're talking about lowest rates of depression you might be right
@@Nova3482 Norway and other Nordic countries do have reasonably high rates of suicide. The region with the lowest rates of suicide (according to the global peace index 2017) are the Southern islands of the Caribbean (also known as the Lesser Antilles) with Antigua and Barbuda having the lowest suicide rate in the world with other Caribbean countries such as Grenada, St.Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, St. Lucia and St. Kitts all having the lowest suicide rates in the world. Despite this none have been named as "the happiest place in the world" due to the happiness index operating on totally different standards that don't take mental health and well-being in to account. It is probably a complex issue as well since we don't fully understand why or what factors goes in to the overall happiness of a population. It is clearly not wealth since if that were the case then both the Nordic and Caribbean countries should have their suicide rates swapped around.
You know Ikaria is part of Greece, Greece being the literal womb where the Western world grew; so it's kind of stupid to reference the "encroaching" Western diet. You might correctly call it a modern diet, but it is no more or less Western than farming olives while consulting an Oracle.

That is undeniable It's been over 2000 years, so of course its not exactly like the original Greeks. There's also other cultures that got mixed in but it still originated from them. @@rikafurude6275 Why does that matter? They are on the European continent and is in the Western hemisphere. So by definition they are both. Its BS to say Greek culture was isolated from the rest.
two things id like to point out. nothing is inherently wrong with the things you point out Americans have. chemical pesticides and GMOs especially. however, the sheer amount of meat, sugar and fat Americans consume is just insane. combine that with the high-stress environment and a religion/culture obsessed with getting everything done before a happy death. I'm really not supprised that the Islanders with their no clock culture deal a lot better. as a second thing. maybe it's a generational thing? as you said people have been living there for ages and with 9000 inhabitants the genetic diversity on the island is probably quite low. maybe living so healthy for so many generations has changed their DNA to deal better with the increased average age?

California is not the Blue Zone. It is the Seventh-day Adventists living in California who apply certain principles of health that are the Blue Zone together with Seventh-day Adventists living all over the world who apply the same principles of health outlined by this denomination. I am sorry that this was not clarified in the video. Health is not a geographic thing, it is a way of living.

@@bazileia9222 The Bible has a lot to say about food. People who apply this in their lives live healthier. It shows in the statistics. Seventh-day Adventists worldwide live longer, i.e. have more years in their lives with good health, than the average population. Average Adventists have five to ten years longer lives, and Adventists who apply the health principles in a more principled way live ten to twenty years longer. Statistics to support this can be found in research from e.g. the US, Norway, and Sweden. Research has been done on Adventists' life span since the 1950's. They have more active years than others, before they end up in long term hospital care or home for the elderly. I personally knew a Seventh-day Adventist in -Sweden who drove his car still when he was 100 years old.
I've read up on this Island. The average life expectancy was even greater before the first world war. Some accounts of people living to well over 150. What protects Ikaria from the outside world up to this day is the fact that it does not have an airport, so there is no mass tourism and no influx of "modern life", as opposed to, for example, it's neighbour island of Samos. Don't get me wrong, Samos is still a very beautiful place to visit, but Ikaria is a bit of a hidden paradise. I was lucky enough to visit it during a sailing trip and I really loved it there. The people really are like described in the video: so relaxed and very very friendly. They always have time for a chat. The island is quite green compared to the others in the area, and the rugged mountains make the landscape incredibly beautiful.

Or at the dmv when I renew my drivers license it has John Smith as the name on the sample ID your everywhere John Smith how can I trust you lol jk but yeah your right that might be it a very alkaline water maybe over 10 alkaline
Sshhh. Nestle might here you.
Jordan, take any water and put some Sodium Bicarbonate (backing soda) in it and here you have it, pure health. Don't forget, just do it!
Hello Mr.J Smith. My name is Mr. Anderson, but my friends call me Neo,but you may call me Mr. Anderson. Yes I don't doubt it when you said "My mother was born here." But the real question is. Was your mother born there? See word games will getcha' every time Also 40% unemployment, and still no one is selling their water to Evian, but I can't blame them I wouldn't sell my water to Avian either I mean that's a fictitious company.
This is my new favourite place, I aspire to visit or even live there one day
I dont think you need to live in that island to live a happy life. My mom has told me stories of when she was a kid and lived in Mexico. She would wake up early have some eggs, feed the pigs, feed the chickens and help my grandma do chores around the house. Then she would take the warm food to my grandpa who took the goats into the mountains to graze. She would walk back home and play with her siblings. I think people can live long as long as they eat healthy, stay active, and feel great about themselves.
Paradise. How the species was designed to live.
The info and video was good so I don’t mind the stealth Ad at the end. Much as gracias!
I wish I was born and grew up on this island where everyone are healthy, relaxed and friendly.
I want to live on this Island 🌴
Nope! You can't go live there. Keep your big Mack eating ass right here. I'll bet you want to go there wearing your MAGA hat, and look for opportunities to start a " BUSINESS" .
We can go there 2gether 😂😂✌🏼

My brain: Beans Greens Potatoes Tomatoes
YOU NAME IT!!!!!
lmfao 😏
umm i'm sure if you lived in paradise. you would live long as hell too...bye usa, i'm moving lol
They actually eat a lot of meat but the difference is that their live stock eat only organic food
A land without depression? IMPOSSIBLE!
@Zurround100 yeah it's not it's in Greece and I'm in Greece so I think il to visit the place!
Zurround100 it‘s Not the happiest country but it has the highest livingstandard in the world
that was such a smooth ad transition
You know Ikaria is part of Greece, Greece being the literal womb where the Western world grew; so it's kind of stupid to reference the "encroaching" Western diet. You might correctly call it a modern diet, but it is no more or less Western than farming olives while consulting an Oracle.
I live in Crete, southern than Ikaria. My grandfather passed away in 100 years old. He had two brothers and a sister, all except one (who died of cancer at his 80es) live nearly a century. My father is above 80 yars old. I think that more than the diet the lifestyle is the main reason for that. I am 50 years old and i curious to see what will happen to me..
Icarian lifestyle is what Greek lifestyle used to be before Western influence.
Are you serious? Western culture originates with Greek culture. GTFO with your BS.
@@neurofiedyamato8763 incorrect,
it originated from European culture, which is different from traditional Greek culture (unless you believe the Americas were discovered by the Greeks you can't deny that difference)
Western *philosophy* was adopted from *ancient* Greece, but that's different from culture
The ikarians life style is closer to that of traditional Greek culture than that of the westernized mainland Greek culture of today
Neurofied Yamato greece was never considered by its people to be ‘western’ or ‘european’ until the victorian era
@@DTux5249 European culture evolved from the Romans who adopted a lot of Greek culture. Yes, it has been morphed a lot such as by the Romans and British. But it still originates from Greece. Art, philosophy, history, governmental policies and even sports. So much Western culture is still derived from the Greeks. That is undeniable
It's been over 2000 years, so of course its not exactly like the original Greeks. There's also other cultures that got mixed in but it still originated from them. And rather than a one way Western influence in to Greece, both simply co-evolved in to the modern day.
@@rikafurude6275 Why does that matter? They are on the European continent and is in the Western hemisphere. So by definition they are both. My point is that the West took a lot from Greek culture and overtime, they co-evovled together. So it's stupid to say Greece remained the same over the centuries until Western influence.
@Lord Pax no you idiot, their genes changed because they wanted to live healthier
Your profile picture is not something that I would expect to see when seeing a comment that is written so well. Nice job.
"comunist" genes haha that was retarded
@@TristanHayes it is better to relax and wait for meteor then destroy nature and ourselves earlier with so called "progress".
" nothing is inherently wrong with the things you point out Americans have. chemical pesticides and GMOs especially."
WRONG!!
Growing their own food is what's keeping them living longer then everyone else.

Wait what, you upload a video and I didn't get notifications for it !
I always watch your videos..
RUclips is gHosting me
Yeah, that's been a problem recently. Glad you found the video!
Wow, you mentioned the ad so smooth I didn’t know what was happening. This is the next level of ads. You give an informative video and then smoothly transition into the ad. I like it!!!😂
They eating the best food and away from medicine design to kill u
God Bless Them, For Ever!
that kind of lifestyle is pretty common in asian country, especially in the rural area.
Assam Citrus Nigga 99% of asians eat pork tf you mean
*goes icaria* dies of too much old people exposure
Vlone is dead bro. That ASAP Barry guy is a prick.
I mean don't get me wrong I still have mine but yeah I wouldn't have profile pictures trying to flex on people.
Damn, I'd trade my life in the UK for a life in Icaria any day.
Simple answer, less or no chemical at all. Thus, the long life - I would love to live there.
Me Too want to live there but how is it possible to live there? Any Visa requirements?
they're timelords
Stevie a man of culture i see, legends of tommorow is a great show
I thought Dr. Who was the last of em
So they don't eat decomposing severed corpses and they live longer and have less diseases? And you say scientists are still trying to figure out this puzzle? I find that even more incomprehensible.
Sadly they're moving away from a plan-based diet and catching up with the rest of Greece in meat consumption :(
Veggie life
Cool video. Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
Less stress is one of the causes, and the serenity of being surrounded by water.
Always love those plug ins at the end of these videos.
What do you mean 'nearby' Greece? Are you purposefully *misinforming* people ??? It's *in* Greece !!! Just like Sicily is in Italy , Tasmania in Australia and so on !
He said under the jurisdiction of nearby Greece. So he didn't say it didn't belong to Greece.
@@marceloorellana5726 He didn't say it doesn't belong to Greece… but why not just say it's a Greek island? It sounds kinda off: "under the jurisdiction of nearby Greece", like it's a colony of some sort.
@@marceloorellana5726 No, the wording is wrong! When you're talking about Long Island and say the 'nearby' States, you're creating a false impression, at least for those who don't know. When someone is making an 'informative' video and posting it on RUclips, they should know the facts and *not* distort them!!!
Okay it’s nowhere near that serious, & you’re the only one that cares. Stop overreacting
@@ApparitionGroupUSA Something not serious for you is serious for the people who live there, though...
Hey many of us are like ikarians but not actually the same. It’s so similar!
Can't beat homegrown produce!
At first I thought this was a Star Wars video.
That was a smooth slide into the ad..daamn dood your are good!
What a recipe for peace of mind.... 🤐😯😴
I'm pretty sure that the long lifespan is due to not having a birth certificate
It’s not Ikaria it’s OURcaria
You were so smooth and unobtrusive with the advertisement, I actually watched the ad and will check out the product. Good video. Good job. L
The basics of good and healthy living are outlined very well in this nicely illustrated video.
entire india was so relaxed community like these small islands before the brits set fire on their tail to run for ever...
@@mikelincoln8395 no..the muslim in the partitioned india are the superior than paks'
No it wasn't xD
@Bloodline Well, the people shown in the video are Europeans and live in Europe so your point doesn't really make sense based on the video.
@Vivim oh boy...!!! I'd say the day without war in the indian subcontinent was almost nil.why would u think the indian population was not exceed 30 crores ever before brits rule..every men would like to die on the battlefield & they took the chance every time & if they feel dying sick he would rush to battlefield rather die on bed..moreover war was been a major entertainment in this land..
But..the concern for securing life & food was never there before brits..at that point there was much relaxation.there were no motels / pay to stay structures..there were plenty of chatrams..place where u can stay & eat without pay..life was much easy that way buddy..nobody ever tried chasing life but thrill & death..!! "brits really set fire on their economical backbone"..!!
"you better study the indian history well beneath central india"
@Vivim u dumb fuck India is in this shit hole cuz of her compassion towards fellow mankind. She welcomed all religions n foreigners with an open heart. Gov read up ancient Indian history u dumb fuck!
Was enjoying it until the thing turned into an advert
Yeah. Because they're not spraying the skies, poisoning the water, or taking vaccines every few months. Not to mention taking medicines and they actually eat real organic.
No ads no data collection... Daaamn so smooth I didn't see it coming
What an awesome video ! Its wonderful... Definitely that is my next trip! I would like to have a wonderful vacation for couple days in island like this!
You are correct, and sorry for be that kind of... but it's because they are mainly vegans :)
Seventh-day Adventists are boring as f***.
@@archneme4614 what fuck does that have to do with the subject of nutrition?
You legally have to say that dash lane sponsors your video, by the way.
ricola cobra Im pretty sure he said that at the beginning of the video
I'm moving...
Make me want to too
I "love" how the video turns into a commercial for a product.
I've read up on this Island. The average life expectancy was even greater before the first world war. Some accounts of people living to well over 150.
Basically put, their diets were amazing. no poisoned food, clean healthy water. Relatively low life stress as well.
Basically this is the kind of life that everyone should have now, but certain greedy peoples don't want that for you.
Eat healthy and eat natural simple ..living with nature you’ll be stress free trust me ..I use to live in Jamaica...depression hit me a year when I move to America
Ikarians are just living properly
Need to go live there. Get away from all the bull*#@t
have you moved yet?
The video literally lists WHY they live longer, how can scientists not know? Great video;)
I always thought life like this was possible, now I know. Living in the wilderness, in a wooden cabin, with a fireplace, surrounded by trees that dance to the cool night breeze, beside a river. Always fresh air no pollution, far away from everything and everyone, don't need money. Sounds like the life.
I’m moving! ✌🏾

California!!??
Loma Linda, CA.
Don't forget about that beautiful, relaxing scenery. Who would be stressed having the breathtaking ocean/waves in clear view everyday?!
Wow! No one can suspect it's an ad but the points shared are meaningful given our current lifestyle
Summary: They live longer because they're more relaxed and easy going. Sign up for a dashlane account.
I'd live there
pretty cool video until you started pushing sales at the viewer towards the end😥sad
They should be used as a case study for global chance in habits! This is pretty amazing!
MissyLaMotte There is an airport in Ikaria, we've fly there last year also for a sailing trip, Ikaria sailing Regata 2018. We had a great time.
@@daniellevannmar3648 Indeed, you are right, I just looked it up. It is not an international one, though, so there probably won't be any of the cheap charter flights that bring in lots of tourists.
