Great SCOTTS!! Nice trees, been waiting for your spring collecting vids. I had a great spring collecting season as well here in the states. Keep the vids comming!!
Great job and great video! Congratulations! To me...Empathic well organized and technical well done video; high quality indeed. Also sharing knowledge with us. Thanks guys!
@@BruceLeef First you should let a new tree rest, regenerate and get used to your area. I would start thinking about wiring/styling after one year or even two.
Enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature. Please don’t collect from public lands. Thank you for the inspiration to be responsible and tranquil in this world with other species.
For large plastic training pots for Yamadori you can go to a home imporvement store and buy a painter's tray, they are nice and deep and you can put holes in the bottom they hold about 20 gallons of soil and would keep a tree healthy for about four to five years..
Thanks Ben! Pines, especially (Sylverstris Pinus) needs to be collected with as much roots as possible, because some mycorrhizae is hidden and stuck to the roots, so for example you can never bareroot a Scots Pine... Welcome to BT (if i havent said it before!)
Awesome video! Wish I lived in Scandinavia, such a marvelous place! How long would it take after collecting the tree from the wild before you put the yamadori in a bonsai pot? I have collected a Scotts Pine too from a farmers field in The Netherlands. Its potted in a crate for now.
I've mentioned it in a few other responses. If you're in the US get oil absorbent from car parts stores. Just sift it. It has a lot of dust the can reduce your drainage.
Hi, I live in southern Finland so it's quite wet all year around and about 17-26 degrees celcius in the summer here. I have a 1 year old Norway Maple and a couple of 2-3 years old Scots Pines that I collected last spring. Do you think 1/2 acadama and 1/2 sphagnum moss would be a good soil mix for the trees? or should I use something different?
Very beautiful speciesism but watching you struggle to move them got me thinking you might want to look in to a game cart meant for moving wild game carcass but can hold up to 500 lbs off road good luck with your new trees👍
PINES (Usually around april-late may) atleast here in Scandinavia.. For someone with a longer growing season that period begins and stretches as longer... When it comes to DECIDIOUS trees, usually spring time, regardless where you are located. However, if you have warm gentle winters DECIDIOUS trees can even be collected over autumn, because you will not risk frost damaging the newly-collected fragile rootsystem.. Welcome to BT, BB net!
Hej! May I ask how and who you asked to get permission? I’m also in Sweden and I want to go ”hunting” myself, but I have no clue how to get permission. Thanks!
So glad you had time to make a new video!!! And a very nice one with great trees also. Thanks and all the best to you guys. We just got snow again so another month and we will start yamadori hunting too.

Nice adventure! I have nice collections of bonsais at home in Thailand.
Great video! Wish i could get some of my friends interested in bonsai!
I have the same problem with most of my interests...
Always fun to see good yamadori videos. I'm just curious why you didnt trim the roots back a little more?

You could plant 10 seedlings to replace every tree you remove. It is very simple.
gran trabajo de recolección, enhorabuena, cual es su estado actual?
nice hunting bonsai, 👍 Black pine, salam bonsai dari Indonesia kawan🙏🙏🙏👍
Thanks mate
can you tell us what are the potting mix you used please
Cool video! What type of cat litter did you use?

Hi guys, did you use cat litter as bonsai soil? Im from norway and Im searching for cheaper alternative for bonsai soil
That was amazing. Good luck.
Update on these trees please!
Yes
Really beautiful collection.

I love how Simon is dressed like BTK with a scary bag
Really cool. Beautiful trees!
Thanks!
Great video and very beautyful trees.
What substrate do you use?
What works best for me is I put the root system in water and get all the dirt and debris off first
This was a very cool video still I think you should be called the bonsai Viking lol
yeyo yes to bonsai Viking!

I always like your vedio with bonsai hunting. Where in sweden you live. I am intersting to go hunting bonsai matrial.

hey guys great video. Just to want to ask what soil did you used on this video? cheers
Hey! Diatomites earth

Excellent video, as usual. Thank you!
Thanks Klem! And.. welcome to BT btw
really enjoyed!
Great video. What type of cat litter do you think is the best for bonsai?
Hi :) what type of soil do you use for the potting of these yamadori?
I think they used cat litter in the video, I have no experience with it, but it's certainly cheaper than the usual substrates.
Talking about cutting tap roots was the subject i was looking for. More information and explanation would be nice.
Nice lizard find.
Nice finds!
Superb
Is that kitty litter you are using? and if so, how do you keep the cats from doing their business in it?
What kind of pine is that?

That sounds like a very good mix ESPECIALLY for Scots Pines. Roots are sensitive and spagnum Moss can make Wonders. Welcome to BT Kalle.

Nice specimen with great potential
What brand is the cat gravel you use?
Cat litter works? Interesting.
NETTO Kattegrus (Non-clump) It's like Walmart in Scandinavia or Tesco in U.K
@@BonsaiTalk what is the #1 ingredient in the litter that you use?
Ryan Daugherty diatomite earth
If anyone needs an extreme amount, you can buy pure diatomite granulate on alibaba, for around 200 dollars/metric ton
What is the cat litter made of?? In the US it is typically clay...
The closest in the US is oil absorbent from car parts stores. Napa, O'Reilly's, auto zone, etc.
@@Calmingdragon oil absorbent litter is better than cat litter in the usa?
Wonderful tree
How is it you don’t clean the roots some as I have seen other bonsai collectors do and pot them up in bonsai soil only?
Pines, can not be barerooted, they are sensitive. They are also tricky to establish - so we work them slowly into in-organic soil
new subs here. june fr the phiippines
It's been a while since last video i need more bonsai talk maybe an update on trees? Like the ficus and schefflera that got defoliate.
