I'll proudly admit that the contents within this 3 minute and 4 second video made me shed a few tears and it gave me a perspective as to how awesome parts of my childhood were actually really freaking awesome when i was around 5 and 8 or so :) thank you so much for uploading it. I tip my hat to you, good sir.
Man i remember watching the intro as a kid, wondering if gta will someday become ultra realistic and the gameplay resembling something like the intro in a open 3d world. if only i knew that kind of graphics was only about 10 years away, and that i would still prefer to play the classics over the graphical eye candy!
Nothing will ever compare to the incredible possibilities that Sony unlocked with the Playstation. This proves that the 90's were indeed a great time for society and gamers alike.
Because back then when the PS1 first came out around 1995 CD's were still pretty new and everyone wanted to show how awesome they were and how much more they could hold than a floppy disc. (This was all before DVD was invented)
This version is edited from the original, but I remember playing the Dreamcast version and the full intro was intact, including the main actor's headshot assassination at the end!
Teh absolute best game intro movie ever made!!! This is how you present the front end of video games...and Rockstar utterly nailed it down...camera work, audio cues, the whole frikkin lot....awesome...never been topped in over a decade!!!
1:58 If you look up the NTSC version of this intro compared to this, the PAL version, the protagonist gets gunned down in the last scene by that weird asshole in a beanie who was mopping the floor and who gets whispered to by the agent when the "Assassin activated" sign comes up on screen. I honestly prefer this version more.
Actually, it was like this in the NTSC American releases for the PS1, I know because I owned it on the PS1 and it says "America" at the PS1 boot so he's running this on an American console/emulator setting. Dreamcast and PC had that intro you're referring to.
That would be incredible if someone could track down the bmw and caprice that were used in this that would be an expensive peice of gaming history even though that would be an impossible thing
Claude Speed (the game's playable protagonist) is played by Scott Maslen in the film. Scott Maslen also played DS Phil Hunter in The Bill and also plays Jack Branning in the BBC soap opera EastEnders in the UK. I never knew this and just realised myself, so I had to check it out! lol.
I played gta2 when I was 15 and when gta3 came out I couldn’t believe the 2d graphics and now these days it’s gta4 and 5 and when gta6 comes out on ps5 all cities will be involved and maybe you’ll get to fast travel or fly a plane to London
Used to have this game but I lost it. Saw it a few days ago for 8 bucks at this store I go to that sells retro games and systems. Saw this video. Cancelling everything this weekend so I can go out and get this fucker and relive some good memories :)
My favorite intro from a video game ever. I used to put the game in just to watch the intro.
а ёмаё целых 12лет назад меня тагда небыло
What about Gran Turismo 2?
OG
No one was skip the intro.. I was just waiting for GTA2 to say it with them 🤣🤣
That's what she said...
in intro: GTA3 gameplay
in game: GTA2 gameplay
But GTA 3 Is in 2001
r/woooosh
Nope GTA 2 and 3 have different protagonists
@Angel Chico Diaz nope. Claude and Claude Speed are 2 different people.
Everything Is r/woooosh 😂😂😂
0:36 Twin Towers!
This game was made in 1999 and the towers went down in 2001
RIP Twin Towers of the World Trade Center 1973- September 11 2001
1 triggered boi vs 1 triggered boi
I thought this game was supposed to be set in 2013? Why are the towers still there?
@@retrogta3692 Rockstar never know that 2 years later, the twin towers went down
i loved the intro as a kid and as adult its even better.
really one of the best intros ever made, and the music is so badass

This intro could’ve been a movie!
I'll proudly admit that the contents within this 3 minute and 4 second video made me shed a few tears and it gave me a perspective as to how awesome parts of my childhood were actually really freaking awesome when i was around 5 and 8 or so :) thank you so much for uploading it. stanwooz94 you usually prefer what you grew up on
stanwooz94 You mean 2009? Dafuq?
Edit: just realised you meant 3d in general.
Nah that's bs no studio can go 3D
Современные GTA состоят токо из графики и сюжета
Nothing will ever compare to the incredible possibilities that Sony unlocked with the Playstation. This proves that the 90's were indeed a great time for society and gamers alike.
Old but gold !
GTA 6 should look like this
isn't GTA2 the only game where a cop chases you everywhere you go lol
Nah,it gives me liberty city vibes and I don't wanna be in LC again. There was 6 times we've been in LC
No
It's interesting that int the intro it has cars that are modern for the time, but in actual gameplay, the cars look like they're from the 50s
Intro: Real graphics
Game: 2D
Is game e good.
Boo hooo
@@musicedit7500it's fun, but there's no story or characters
It just occurred to me how similar the opening Rockstar Games logo at 0:19 is compared to the logo for GTA 5. Weird huh?
is like a tribute i think
Now we just need a HD version of this Intro and it would be perfect for GTA VI's intro. This intro is 25 years ahead of the game...
except we learned that gta vi takes place in vice city
Never skipped this sweet intro most of the time back then. Only to wait that "GTA 2"..
Still the best GTA intro they ever made
I'm playing this in 2019 on my PC
I want a whole length movie of this tbh.

Dont worry, claude is still alive. Hes a detective in walford.
божечки я аж прослежился.. не одну сотню часов провел в этой игре. Спасибо рекомендациям Ютуб
immer noch der beste Trailer
Because back then when the PS1 first came out around 1995 CD's were still pretty new and everyone wanted to show how awesome they were and how much more they could hold than a floppy disc. (This was all before DVD was invented)
omg..thats the guy from Eastenders...
I hate that show...
Hackney Station your a crackhead
I thought that was Jack lmaoooo
I played this a lot as a kid and I think it may be the reason I ended up buying an E39 as my first car.
Who who watching in 2022 🤘🤘🤘🤘
If gta 2 was like the intro I will buy it
This version is edited from the original, but I remember playing the Dreamcast version and the full intro was intact, including the main actor's headshot assassination at the end!

still hasn't been topped another decade later
The music is awesome!
If only I could buy a ticket to a Saturday night in 1999.
Damn that graphics are really good, they look like if they were real!
"...aNd rememBerr... ReSPEcT is everyThing..."

For me, the best GTA
Gta 6 looks exciting

2:56 i love this red guy ahahaaha to funny his sounds :D
Wow amazing... i like gta
After 13 years appears in my recommended
The pc version really had the gunfire and execution included in the intro because i played it and i know it.
the music is called 'rhythm' by engineers without fears
That would be incredible if someone could track down the bmw and caprice that were used in this that would be an expensive peice of gaming history even though that would be an impossible thing
u can get it from Ares sharing program , just type gta2 theme or intro , i ve got it from there
SKIP FULL MOVIE INTRO : 2:00
good times....
1999.
Uma das intros mais marcantes dos games pra mim! Essa, a do Gran Turismo 2 e do 3Xtreme. GTA 2 é um jogaço!
The best intro.
Is that the guy that plays jack in eastenders...? 0_0
is it indeed.
+Unknown1892 huh learn something new everyday.

So much childhood :')
nostalgic moments of being 11 years old playing this...
That PS1 soundeffect at the start.. I almost died... And afterwards the intro... HHHHGGGNNNN... Someone call ambulance with Claude driving it!
Best intro ever
this intro is edited at the end. originally on the PC intro the video ends with the death of the main character in the video.
This picture of the background from when it's loading the game _lmao_
@r33zybabyy Man. i was three. Serious. Im still not stopping with gta. This is getting me tears
glad i still have gta1 and 2, brilliant games even as old as they are, still fun to play!
In the Sega Dreamcast version of this game, the guy walking away at the end gets shot by the assassin shown earlier in the video.
Great jobm absolutley amazing!
The DMA logo feels like a predecessor to the Rockstar logo from GTA 5
Just missing it ;((
G-G-G-GIMME YO WALLET!
HELP!
nice that they filmed this for the game
Jack from Eastenders!
This was shot a week after columbine, made undercover without permits on a 150 grand budget
Was looking for this comment hahah!
Apparently, this game can either take place in 1999 or 2013. I looked up the timeline and that's what I got for GTA 2.
0:36 i miss you world trade center
i remember playing this game and gta 1 i was soo addicted good old times = )
holy fuk, good old times dude. i was a child when i've played that game. now at university...
Nostalgia... I spent so much time playing it.
I played gta2 when I was 15 and when gta3 came out I couldn’t believe the 2d graphics and now these days it’s gta4 and 5 and when gta6 comes out on ps5 all cities will be involved and maybe you’ll get to fast travel or fly a plane to London
Imagine saying GTA6 at 2:05
Respect is everything
@Dekain228 Oh so it wasn't until the early 2000s when they worked on GTA III when it was the first game in the series that had 3D graphics right?
Used to have this game but I lost it. Saw it a few days ago for 8 bucks at this store I go to that sells retro games and systems. Saw this video. Cancelling everything this weekend so I can go out and get this fucker and relive some good memories :)
RESPECT
IS EVERYTHING
"In a city, where respect is everything.." I miss GTA 2, pwns ass.
Nie wiedziałem że Jerzy Urban grał w tym Interze z GTA 2 wow
That ps1 intro sound! I put some ps1 games in my ps3 and that sound came up! The memories!
0:07, Bro, WTF. That sounds creepy.
When it comes to creepy/scary sounds on the PS1, it’s like your console is possessed.
The play station one start up still gives me chills
I think someone said that in the PC version, he gets shot in the end and on the PS1 version, he doesn't.
@StickFigures720 thnx alot 4 da comment! peace!
I miss those days
That playstation sound really brings me back! :)
Nostalgia :(
Remember! Respect is everything!
