Discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and you stole my heart. I absolutely love your reactions. Something Adam wouldn’t confess about the hot tub snow angels: that’s something we convince southerners to do, then after they jump back in, we usually say:”Yea, we’ve never done that. Seems stupid.” Lol.
I was raised and still live in Northern Minnesota, we can and do get temperatures colder than those shown in the video, this winter the whole state has received alot of snow, but you just dress for it and keep on going. The only thing missing was ice fishing, nothing says Minnesota in the winter like ice fishing.
I have watched this a few times & always get a chuckle. Love Tim's sense of humor. If he wasn't a singer, he could make a career as a stand up comedian with his dry wit & monotone delivery. He was brave to go from the hot tub to making angels in the snow. I spent part of my childhood in Quebec Canada & we had long cold winters there. But also remember the fun we had toboggining & skating.
Lots of the Home Free family in this one. Tim was traveling with his friend Chris Chatham. He often writes songs with Tim and they and Austin perform in an instrumented group they call Sweet and Low. If you react to their newer song, So Long Dixie, Chris co-wrote the song and also plays guitar with the guys in that one. Also, the man with gray hair whose house they arrive at and Tim talks to sitting on the couch, is their producer Darren Rust who has appeared in several of their videos, and in fact, they filmed in his house for the Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer video and he plays a prominent role in that one. Tim is a funny guy, not that they all aren't funny. Rob is the other Minnesotan.
Debbie Tim is a funny dude, besides being the best bass in the business. He has another 4 part series on the Home Free channel called, TEXAS EATS and it is really awesome
My not-so-fondest memory of living in Vermont and Minnesota - trying to dig out of the house after three feet of snow fell overnight. Fun fact. The normal door on our house swings in but the storm door swings out. Think about it.
Hot tub snow angels are amazing. The cold snow actually feels wonderful if you have been in the tub long enough to be on the verge of overheating. When you get back in the tub it feels like millions of needles all over your body and gives you quite a rush.
I love Tim documentaries! I avoided being outside as much as possible in January and February when I lived in Minnesota. Heated garage was my best friend in the winter.
Are you thinking of the Home Free Eats series? Tim and friends (including his band members) hit restaurants in several parts of the country, plus Tim's mom's home. There's Texas Eats (in 3 parts), Minnesota Eats, Nashville Eats, and the last one is called Oddities and Eats. The couple Tim was talking to about redneck sledding are the owners of one of those restaurants, The Firehouse Grill.
That Styrofoam sound as he's walking in the snow shows that it is COLD! I grew up in North Dakota in the 60s and 70s. -20 was not unusual and -40 was not unknown. That sound is lasered into my brain - and I hope to never hear it in person again.
The hot tub angel...lol... I'm Canadian... I think we've all done the angel and the polar bear swim on New Years day at least 1x. (and for most of us 1x is enough). Love that he was willing to try it... it really get the blood pumping.
Tim's deadpan delivery is so hilarious! He's such a natural comedic talent! He's from Nederland, which is over by Beaumont, not too far from where I am. Super awesome guy!
Found a real fun one for you. If you feel Tim on this one, Home Free just relaced (Mississippi Squirrel Revival). Just a couple weeks ago. Will warm you up. They talked about shorts at 30*. I worked at Keystone Ski Area in CO a few years. Once we went 3 weeks and temp did not go above -30*. Wind chill would hit close to -90* on top. We had to pull people down in sleds, waring their cute ski pants and matching coats. We would find them just standing, for if they skied, it would get colder from the extra wind. After three weeks we hit a high of 33*. Most of the employees were going around in shots and tee shirts. New people up there thought we were sick, but that 60+ degrees, felt so good. LOL Must have been the dry cold.
Love Chris scraping off the frost with his Mensa card 😂. I will admit that the year we got 14 inches of snow in Kentucky, we were clearing off our car with a broom and a cardboard sun shield.... I have used old, empty gift cards as impromptu frost scrapers, too. More than once 🤦 I moved to Ohio nearly 20 years ago but I have never really accepted the inevitability of frost.
So much fun!!! I was born in Syracuse NY, and lived in upstate NY through third grade. So needless to say I never dealt with driving in the snow. It was so much fun climbing up the snow bank, on the way to the bus stop, and then you stepped where there wasn’t enough snow crust to hold you, fell in over your head and dug your way out, then went back up to do it again. Of course before you got on the school bus you already had little snow balls in your boots😂, I have been ice fishing, snowmobiling on a pond, tried to wear my dad’s snow shoes, definitely don’t recommend that, they are like huge tennis rackets that help you not sink in the snow. I have been in NC since 1985, I can say that I do miss snow, but not like the level we had where I grew up. Thank You Debbie, this was hysterical and I had never seen it, just too funny 😂.
Your giggling, while reacting to this, is just precious! I’m a Georgia girl, only like the snow when this gals rear end is sitting inside, with a fire, looking out the window! Bless his heart 😂
To be fair, he came during a polar vortex, which is crazy cold. Most of us Minnesotans don't go out if we don't have to at that time. But as the one guy said, it only lasts a couple weeks at the most. Then it's back to the 30's. I have issues with extreme cold myself so I hibernate when the vortex hits! As far as home life videos, Tim, Adam, Austin and Chance all have a few. Tim is a major foodies so alot of his are centered around food. Austin shows fans where he grew up. He also has a fishing channel with his lovely girlfriend Amberly called Beauty and the Bass. It's not all fishing though. Chance has 2 videos on the Home Free channel. One is his home in California and the other is where he grew up in Alabama. Adam is very careful about his wife and kids being in videos so his shows just him and his friends. Rob never did one. But you can glimpse parts of Rob's life in various music videos...mostly "Spaceship" where you get to see his wife and their (at the time) newborn son. Beautiful video! His wife appears in a few videos actually. You can also see glimpses of their home lives in the videos "Down to the Honky Tonk" and "Sunday Best" I would really reccomend them!!
Prince George, BC - Central BC - March 27th - still have almost 3'+ snow in the yard. 4 seasons - Winter, Pre-Construction, Construction, Post-Construction - the Construction seasons can take place anytime throughout the year.
The one southern phrase I remember from my parents is yont to., which translates to, do you want to. A southerner giving directions is also an adventure, how far exactly is down yonder and what is the equivalent to cut up?
I grew up in Wisconsin. It was always a challenge when I came inside after playing outside. You had to go in the door backwards because if you didn’t, your glasses fogged up instantly. To see where you were going, you had to take your glasses off. If your frames were metal, they were frozen to your nose. Every stay outside took its toll in layers of skin. I’ve finally gotten enough sense to move south where snow is rare.
Adam Rupp (and his brother Chris), Rob Lundquist & Home Free's producer Darren Rust and their families all live in Minnesota. Tim (originally from Texas) & Austin (orig. from Georgia) and their significant others live in Tennessee. Adam Chance (orig. from Alabama) and his wife live in L.A.

Hello Debbie. I am from Northern Minnesota, about 6hr northwest of the twin cities. I have seen over a 200 degree difference in 5months from -100 degrees with wind chill to 115 with heat index. I have seen snow in every month of the year
I used to drive a truck and was once in -22 degrees.....truck got snowed in.....5 hours to dig out. And that was in Bloomington Normal, IL. Cute video, you have a contagious laugh!
Bennigan’s is a restaurant that was around awhile. The one near me has been gone for about 20 years now. I don’t know what Tim was eating but he loves food and often does videos of checking out restaurants in different areas. He’s so funny. I just love his humor. “Gotta have that many kids, as you lose some of them to the cold”. Hahaha.
Hi you like home free and pentatonic you need to watch when they both where on the show sing off they both won the show you will be blown away buy both
I live in Cincinnati Ohio. We have these slopes near us called Perfect North. We go tubing every year! It’s not as fun as it looks. When I was younger we used to go skiing there!
I live in central California and where I live on the coast you can day trip to go play in the show for a couple of hours and then drive back to where it's warm.
Rofl omg when i saw the -12 on the car and you said.... 'OMG id DIE!' i was sooo waiting for that, i knew you said you were from Kentucky and i was waiting for that, my ex was from Virginia and moved here to Ontario Canada, lol we get some days makes that look like summer... :)
