I know people are going to condemn Casper for not being good enough, but I feel it's his opponent who was too good. There's so much depth in tennis nowadays that you can't afford to ease yourself in to a slam. You have to be on fire from the get go. I feel these kind of upsets would become a regular feature in tennis over the next years.
its been already regular to have these "upsets" due to a lack of consistency in this generation, thats why for me tennis have decline a bit, you have top guys that play great 1 tournament and the next one have an early exit, that something you didnt see often back in the era of the big 3, where players like nalbandian, ferrer, delpo, gonzalez, tsonga, davydenko, etc... will consistently reach deep stages of a slam or could have an early exit but only because they faced one of the big 3.
So true...
@@ricardosalazar858 the skill divide between the top 10 of that era and the rest of the players was too big. Now, other than sinner, alcaraz and medvedev, everyone from top 10 to top 40ish plus these new gens can beat each other on any given day. I doubt anyone from this generation will even reach 15+ slams. Alcaraz will have 12-13 but that's about it.
I agree… but I’ll add that Ruud seemed not 100% maybe sick 🤢 ?
@sajivdoley6949 You are absolutely right. I don't know why people don't get this. When you face an opponent who is serving, returning well and hitting consistently hard and accurate ground strokes, there's very little you can do. You have to play with thesame level of intensity. Most players in the top 100 are capable of producing that level even though they might not do it consistently.
Mensik is top 10 material. It is just a matter of time.
My thought exactly
@@manueld5253machac is also good
Machac, arthur fils, fonseca.... just a matter of time....
@@davitchkuaseli234 oh yes....agreed.
Agree Mensik and Machac two crazy players not in top 10
Mensik has been performing well for quite some time. His success in the Grand Slam is not a surprise.
Reminds me of prime Berdych the way he hits. A known Djokovic fan, he's defo capable of a deep run this year. A future slam winner.
Nothing like being young and strong and Czech when you are on the tennis court. Amazing.
Weird take but ok
hahahahaha
@@chalecmouse268🤣🤣🤣🤣
What an odd comment
hes probably talking about lendl
Mensik, Perricard and Joao Fonseca are the next young guys getting better and better. Joao Fonseca beat Mensik at Next GEN atp finals, has beaten Arthur Fils twice and send Rublev back home in straight sets.
Thomas machach is right up there....
Perricard needs to develop a defense. He has power, but the other guys just have more shots.
Good accurate hitting. Hope he keeps this form
He is channeling his idol, djokovic's energy 😂
That's his mentor, he's trained with him before.
I think this dude might me better. Hits harder.
I sometimes don’t understand why Ruud doesn’t take opportunities to hit a more flat ball, especially on the backhand side. I feel like he could win so many more points, like why does he choose not to?
his backhand is bad, dont know why Casper remember me a bit of Ana Ivanovic, she had a letal forehand but her backhand was terrible and the thing is that you dont win at big stages with just one weapon
I've never seen a "Top 10 player" Lose so early in so many grand slam events.
I'm sure it's happened, and what on earth is the meaning of the quotation marks?
That's what I used to wonder about Fritz a couple years ago.
You never saw Michael Stich
@ It's pretty obvious if you think about it for a minute lol...
@@CameronEarls-m8d Who are you talking to? So not obvious that still I have no idea what you are talking about. All you are telling me is that you don't like Ruud for whatever bizarre reason.
Ruud is tooooo Humble
Well, you gotta stay quiet when you lose so frequently.
nextgen is taking over
Bueno Mensik, y es una lástima por Casper es un gran jugador.
👍👍🇨🇱
루드는 잘했는데 상대가 진짜 잘해서 졌네요 진짜 재밌다 ㅎㅎ
Mensik just overpowered Ruud...n this is another upset after Fonseca knocked out Rublev. N I feel Mensik,,like Fonseca, hasnt even tapped into all his potential. I exoect tobsee great things from these players n Mpetshi-Pericard❤❤❤
4:51 wow
PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL THE VIDEO! DO NOT SHOW THE PHOTO OF THE WINNER!!!
Be quiet
are you telling me that you religiously wait the video instead of watching first the winner in internet? 🤣
Mencik machac lehechka are top
mensik x fonseca vai ser a próxima rivalidade do tênis
Ruud is one of the most humble and charismatic players on the tour, but his backhand is too pushy for him to make another deep run at the Majors. More and more players are figuring out to attack that side to open up the court on the forehand side. It hangs up, like my ex’s phone when I call her, and gives the opponent an opportunity to step into their next groundstroke and put him in the defensive. I hope he gets it together because I love his game and love seeing that infectious smile when he’s enjoying himself on the court.
Unbeliveable and disapointed with Capur Ruud.
I like Casper but hes taking away his opportunities to hit winners with his style. Topspin is important for sure but he kills all the speed on the ball, wish he would learn to hit a bit flatter
Oh my goodness, I just won a point! I must shake my fist!!!
it is the law
@cesaralmaguer-l7l set in stone it is.
@ fr
I'm glad both Ruud and Rublev have been done early on. Not that I dislike them or anything, but I believe they've hit their ceiling. Prefer them to be in the 11-20 rank than top 10. Want to see fresh blood moving up and challenging likes of Alcaraz and Sinner (as well as Djokovic, Zverev and Medvedev)
These kids have never had to "adjust" to poly ...it's all they've ever played with. It shows.
In Hard courts top spin never works. Giving a chance to other player to hit hard
Nadal disagrees lol
@@MaxxSend true. That is the reason he has less slams in hard courts. However he has more agility, defending skills and hitting winners better than Ruud
the youngers are coming
The youngsters are HERE! My goodness! I'm loving it! 💓
Mensik nice win...
This guy is great
Bad match up for Ruud. He never does well against tall players as his topspin plays right into their strike zone. His other mistake here is he played this like a clay court match. Yes the AO court plays very slow but anyone healthy and reasonably fast will get to the ball with enough time to line up a commanding shot. He’s gotta learn how to flatten the ball and make it awkward for his opponents
Crucial year for top seed losers who may not make it to the ATP
Finals and even finish the year in the Top 10 (current ranking):
- Ruud (5)
- Rublev (10)
- Tsitsipas (12)
Yikes. A whole generation is gone...
Rublev, Felix, Titsipas, Ruud, Coric. 😅
Kokkinakis
Weird that people like Norrie, Ruud, Stefanos are already playing as if they're like 36 on the tail end of career, they really gotta figure it out tbh, too young to be consistently outplayed by these up and coming guys.
Rudd is done
Estas bien feo, mejor preocúpate por eso
No disrespect to Casper but he's made a career out of being mediocre.
I can't believe he's been to as many grand slam finals as he has.
He does everything good but nothing really exceptional.
watch his forehand on clay.
I was thinking the same thing. Yes, he has a forehand, but outside of that, that’s pretty much it. And to have had a lot of success with just that, I’m surprised.
he’s a clay player
@ I think it's pretty damn impressive that he's solid in every dept, and has no glaring weaknesses in his game
A career out of being mediocre! He has 12 titles and 3 Grand Slam Finals!
/mensheek/
All the mens seeds are loosing at AO!
Ruud has gotten the most out of his career but mediocrity ahead to bad
Stop with the winner in the thumbnail for freak’s sake… like why is this so hard to understand … 😓😐😐
"
Of course, this is not an upset. Ruud is a poor man's version of Nadal, excelling on clay only through moon balling.
NO SPOILERS IN THUMBAILS PLEASE. downvote!
I think monfils is better than ruud
