Mike, Once in a moment of frustration I believe, I prayed and asked God, “Why did you create me?” His incredible answer, deep in my soul came, “I was so overcome by Love I had to.” That beautiful response brought me to tears and I realized that is the Truth for each one of us. That seemed to fit right in with your homily today.

Hello, Father Mike Schmitz and Front Pew Crew. Getting ready to renew the lease on the place that I rent. Things are financially tight, but survive-able. I joined a parish in my community, finally, and now my next task is trying to get used to the Mass times that are offered; I'm hoping to do some volunteer service at Mass and in the various parish ministries. I'm very grateful for Ascension Presents. I will probably always go to Mass online, because when I was in Kiwanis Survival Skills, my Spiritual Directors told me to at least go online so that I don't become a lapsed Catholic. I actually did go to Israel. We did eat those Magnum ice cream bars! They are yummy. I also found out that hummus is good for you and has less sodium and calories, if you want to have something more on the healthy side for a snack or lunch. Thank you!

I understand that you say that God loves me because He created me. Where I get hung up, is understanding that he also loves and created really evil people in this world. Serial killers, etc. God loves me as much as he loves a serial killer? Do you see why I find this confusing?
As a parent, if my child became a serial killer, I would still love him/her and pray for a conversion. We have a whole life to change our ways,,,,We are rewarded with either a good afterlife or a not so good afterlife. The Ten Commandments lays it all out for us. He gave us Free Will, and we choose our reward…..I must say I think in the last minutes of one’s life they are sorry for their sins and the Father will handle it justly.❤️🙏🏽

I’ll be honest, I wondered if God was angry and punished us too at one point. I was baptized catholic and began to question as a teen and young adult when my life took on some profound darkness. I questioned everything. Fast forward a few decades, and I was still questioning so I thought well maybe I should learn about the Bible before I write it off completely. So I did Fr Mike’s Bible in a Year podcast (it’s on Ascension on YT or anywhere u get podcasts if ur curious about it). I honestly thought I’d be listening to challenge and question it as a bunch of nonsense. But instead I found my questions answered. So whether you too might want to listen to challenge it or because you want it to challenge you, it might be worth a listen. If not, that’s ok too. If it’s ok with you, I’d like to pray for you that you know Gods love someday. I know when I realized God loves me for the first time I was a sobbing mess and then filled with graces I never even knew were possible. I went to confession and my priest asked me to do a month of saying thanks to God everyday. I ended up having several amazing things happen that month that I was struggling with and completely stuck on. Family members were healed of addiction, a family member started being open to faith not by anyone’s suggestion but my silent prayer for it, and I had $100k debt wiped out and won $100 in something I didn’t even enter but someone saw me and gave it to me. I realize this sounds like a weird ad for Jesus haha. Trust me, it’s not. I’m still shocked any of that happened bc I didn’t really ask for it. I just prayed for help and to accept Gods will whatever it might be and I was given those graces even more than I could have even imagined. Honestly, I’m not sure I had enough faith to even ask for those big things bc I didn’t think it was possible. I also felt very weird about talking to people about my faith. So I’m definitely not trying to push you to do anything or change your beliefs. I just know how you feel and I know I was one way and now I’m another. I’m at more peace now if that makes sense. I hope for your peace, happiness, and that you know you are loved too. Thank you for sharing your perspective. You helped me today find the words to express mine too.
