Don't forget to check bolt tightness, there has to be a lockwasher on each bolt otherwise they bottom in the hole and leave a dangling starter motor that strips threads faster. Chk starter frequently for looseness/wobbly install (loose or bottomed bolts). 2. U can use 9mm or 5/16 socket & hammer to tap the snap ring back in. 3. One guy showed how by turning the flywheel (battery disconnected) by hand he can get the pinion gear off & one without taking starter or flywheel off. Another guy showed how he with hand grinder, ground off about 3-4" length of top side of flywheel (don't get into the flywheel teeth) to make more room to get pinion gear off easier removal again w/o taking starter or flywheel off. Good video, thanks.
Hello good video, my mower is 24 hp 46", my flyweel is made of steel and the gear is 16 teeth, in briggs spare parts I only find the plastic gear and if I place it it will wear out quickly, where do I find the metal one or they no longer manufacture it ? Thank you in advance
You cannot flip gear over and expect it to work; that’s why one side of gear says this side up; it’s got a little bevel on it which allows gear to start into flywheel

How do you know what the Wright starter is for a huskee Supreme 22 hp with a 16 teeth
Is that a Briggs engine?
Just did mine. It was mounted with a t40 torx bit.
the dang bronze bushing in the top cap gets worn and every new bendix put in starts gringing away immediatly
IN A PINCH? TURN THAT STARTER GEAR OVER AND PUT IT BACK ON IT'LL LAST FOR A COUPLE OF STARTS OR MAYBE MORE. 🫡
